The same is with my piano playing. I’ve been playing for 8 years but I can only play infront of my teacher and little sister without getting nervous/shy/and even scared.
The younger ones make me smile so hard, because you just know with some practice and training they are going to KILL it as they get older. I hope none of them ever stop singing.
But on a saddening note voices go deeper when you mature. I have been a band singer for 5 years and on my 6th it just went downhill because my voice gone deep :

Two instances stand out the most though, 1-I was at church camp and one night only a few of us were showering in our cabin, the rest went to the poolhouse since there were more showers there. We were basically in a big building divided into 6 rooms that each had their own bathroom, three rooms on each side of the building that were separated by a big empty space. Well, I was BELTING OUT whatever came to mind (burning ring of fire was on the list) while I was in the shower, taking as long as possible to dry off and everything because the acoustics were just amazing, but I totally forgot I was not the only one around. Not only had everyone gotten back looong before I was done, they were crowded around the bathroom door, all 14 of them, waiting for me to come out. The second I opened the door they all started clapping and cheering and scared me so bad I screamed and just about fainted. The next morning as we were going to breakfast, the two cabins that bordered ours were waiting for us to come out, wanting to know who was singing last night along with several girls from cabins on the other side of the building that had been on there way back and stopped to listen. I wanted to disappear I was so embarrassed! The second time was just a couple months ago. I was visiting my grandfather and he lives within walking distance of a neighborhood poolhouse. I liked to go in the evening so I could have its lovely acoustics all to myself. But I got carried away and got caught singing by the security guard who'd come to lock up the pool. I literally ran past him all the way home, beet red. I also liked to shower there (unlimited hot water) and didn't realize that some elderly ladies had come to use the pool while I was in there, and as I walked out they thanked me for the concert. I turned beet red and ran away. They must have told everyone else in the neighborhood because it became everybody's mission to catch me and they ALL knew about me. Some people are just painfully shy about their voice.

I've been binging your videos and I've just gotta say you've got SUCH an inspiring personality. I love how you see the best in everyone, and even though you're a pro in the music field you are still supportive of every singer (I've seen so far at least!) It's awesome how you're so openly enthusiastic when they do something well and don't pick apart when they get pitchy. That's a really rare first instinct to have, and I think it says a lot about your character :) You're also incredibly patient, and watch everyone all the way through and don't lose focus or interest. YES exactly! I was bullied a lot in school, and I was early one day so I found an empty hallway and was singing some of what we were doing in choir while avoiding going to my locker as long as possible because I knew they'd be waiting. Some of the girls that hated me found me there and would have ripped into me for it but they backed off when our music teacher walked around the corner and saw us. She was a hall monitor so she walked me back to class. My bullies picked on me even more after that because when they tried to make me sing, I sounded like a squeaky chipmunk I was so panicked.

YES exactly! I was bullied a lot in school, and I was early one day so I found an empty hallway and was singing some of what we were doing in choir while avoiding going to my locker as long as possible because I knew they'd be waiting. Some of the girls that hated me found me there and would have ripped into me for it but they backed off when our music teacher walked around the corner and saw us. She was a hall monitor so she walked me back to class. My bullies picked on me even more after that because when they tried to make me sing, I sounded like a squeaky chipmunk I was so panicked.
