Getting more Filipino? Here I am thinking they had been one of us since three years ago! 😂 They are just like those Fil-Am who learned little Filipino but is trying to reconnect with their culture! 😅😂
Some reactors just react to filipino videos for the views, but these two actually know filipino singers and the lyrics to the song. I really appreciate them.
UPUAN is "chair" in English (sometimes "silya"), which comes from the root word, "upo" which is "sit/to sit" in English. The song refers to those who are seated in power, politicians in general. The rap verses tell the different stories of the plight of the poor and ends it with calling out those seated in power to give attention to the people suffering from rising poverty, implying that they are focused on less important things or even engaged in corruption. That's why it is sung/rapped with passion, frustration and anger. For the ska/reggae song, I am not familiar but it is a message about staying away from drugs and doing better in life. Love you, guys!
5:50 - 8:35. UPUAN by Gloc-9. This song was released in 2009 and the words and meaning still ring true to the Political and Economical standing of the Philippines today. Corruption is so engrained in the system that even though there are some people who are trying to make it better, it is not enough or they couldn't make that big of a difference because the enemy is at every level. It's crazy hoe this song was made 15 years ago now and still very very relevant. At the end I think they tagged another song, sort of like a medley., Or maybe the reggae version actually has that syncopated ending. I'm not sure.
waleska gets my respect, i mean they both already do but her humbleness not trying to act like "the girl who knows it all" as knowledgeable as she is, asking "somebody explain it..." she admits when she not know something! and i already learned a lot from her! WHAT AN HONOR TO BE ABLE TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS FOR FREE!
I know right, i think i had this same comment as you from before and this is what I observed from them. They really know what they are doing and I am so impressed with that like they really have the rights to react and give critiques about singing and music.
Loved that "upuan" cover... Honestly, most Filipinos, even those who don't rap, love Gloc 9's songs because how great it was written and delivered 🤌🤌🤌👏👏👏 Amazingly awesome!
Filipinos are good because even if it's already 12 midnight they can still sing, actually they can sing nonstop and make the neighbors wanna throw a grenade.
The song that starts at 6:40 is "Upuan" by our respected rapper called "Cloc9." It's actually politically motivated song. Its main aim is to shame and mock the corrupt and greedy government officials of the Philippines. It's a song describing how and why unscrupulous gov't officials are the main reasons why majority of Filipinos are poor and oppressed. It's actually a very good song with powerful message. Wishing for most Filipinos to finally be wiser in voting in the next elections though~ 🥰
7:20 ... its a masterpiece of a song, its an original song of GLOC 9 !!! its one of the most famous rap song in the philippines .. it has many version, covers of various genres! but reggea version is the most famous .. also one of the most covered GLOC 9 song ever .. one of many masterpiece of GLOC 9!
I’m Filipino and had been out of the country for over 40 years. Thank you for highlighting songs that are not familiar to my ears. Can’t believe that there are so many songs and singers that have been produced since I left. Proud to be a a Filipino.
"Upuan" cover are actually group of guys who are so talented..some of them are from Paniqui Tarlac....my son plays the beatbox actually😊 thank you for featuring them...
One thing a lot of Filipinos readily have at home is an acoustic guitar, since singing is a common pastime (usually partnered with inuman session) aside from karaoke, of course
For the UPUAN, they are referring to the rich and poor. As the rich ones is always seated very nicely while the rest or the poor is always standing, sacrificing and the like. While seated represents comfort and all

The song at 5:41 is called Upuan by Gloc 9 with Jeazell Grutas. I highly recommend you watch it since its a reality check song but i don't think there's a english translations on the youtube videos released here in youtube. you might be able to google translate/AI translate it to english.
@7:30 The half nude Guy doing the rap is singing a local OPM political song intended for a President sitting in Malacanang Palace (Seat of the Government) calling the President to stand up once in awhile and look into what is happening outside his throne.

(Magalona) who sang "Tayo'y Mga Pinoy", "Mga Kababayan Ko" and one of the best hit songs "Bagsakan" with Gloc 9 along with one of the best Filipino band Parokya ni Edgar. They were the reason why Filipino hiphop scene is flourishing as they brought it on the mainstream when they released their rap albums back in their days.
