This video is something that I always wanted to do, showing the "World", but I was worried of getting banned. However, after the shutdown and with the offline server I was finally able to record.

Sitting at the middle of the road while staring at the once, lively city I realized how lonely and abandoned NFSW went. From 200,000 unique vehicles pacing back and forth, the adrenaline cruising from one driver to another, the roar of engines in the distance, to 10 city vehicles slowly riding along the silent streets of World.
I saw their faces; sad, angst, disgust, despair, anger, negativity. They were all standing there one line with their loved vehicles, awaiting for that final "ping" of the server. A light flashes, and I was left alone.
It went on for years. Checking safehouses, passing through meeting places, calling anyone. But it was no use. World has been abandoned forever. The people from _above_ did this. They ruined the World. They ruined everyone's friendship, memories and hard work.
After years of waiting I decided to stop and realize it was useless. No one's going to hear the echoes of my engine, no matter how loud i step on the accelerator; the tire screeching from an endless drifting on a deserted road. I realized it would just be a waste of time.
But then, as I was about to hit the "Esc" button one final time, I received a message I never thought I would get:
"A player joined the server!"
"A player:"

it happened, just join soapbox race world discord. they making the game come back alive with actual online.

I think that goes for a lot of the NfS games of that time. This map seem to have included a lot from, or the entire map from NfS: Most Wanted. And that game had really dark, depressing graphics. The music made it more lively.

I know it wont be the same as being able to have friends and battle with diff people throughout the planet, but you can download an offline version of it, roam around and race with bots. It sorta soothed my immense feels of missing this game somehow :)

Akwesi Guity it washt having to pay money for getting a car they took grinding in this game way too far dont get me weong the open world aswell as visiting multiple locations in one game is brilliant but it wasnt really doing it. They saw it and they shut it down
Now that NFS World is offline, this game can now be modded! Hopefully the community takes over and makes their own servers possibly.
Sorry to burst your(and NFS community groups) bubble, but the game is not fully moddable, as EAGL(the engine that the game ran on) games are known to be very hard, if not impossible, to mod, and only certain aspects of the game(cars, vinyls, decals, textures etc.) can be modded.

What a wonderful era. Nostalgia makes me feel sad, but good at the same time. Not only for the game but just like it was the end for NFSW it also kinda represents the end of the "good old days" for me as it matches the period my adolescence was over. So many memories, the days were mild, EVERYTHING was a lot better than will ever be again. As I'm approaching my 30s I can now understand why people used to say growing up sucks, just wish I could go back in time.
Need for Speed World is huge better then NFS2015..
Steve didn't shut down need for speed world because of nfs2015 because that game has an "only online mod" and because ea needed servers they shuted down nfsw

+Banana Babana it was the same case for me XD. We were 7 years old and my friend and I would see who could have the longest cop chase without getting caught. He lasted 1 hour 14 minutes at one point XD I recorded it all on my potato video camera XD

1 Year Ago and still crying when I hear that ghost music from NFSW. Need for Speed World has something special about that map and city. Even if there were hackers still I loved it because everytime when I wanted something fun with my friends NFSW was the best choice.

I beta tested this game back in summer 2010 and since then watched the game fall over the years till her death, it had so much potential, but the devs just fucked it up, nothing but overpriced cars and barely any new map extensions or events.

i always check out these sorrowful moments of nfsw and i recall all my experience with the game with virtual friends with cops. now i dare miss it. I also have a offline mod nfsw but who needs it. 50000+ were playing now it is like a deserted place and i started to hate the offline mod. if anyone gets the idea of online or if anyone uploads an online mod it would be sooo helpful......i want my game even i am alright if i start first[demanding wont get me the game]..........i am starting to cry

NFS World was my first MMO. Although i didnt play much due to my internet, its still nostalgic to see it like this. once the lan server mod is complete, lan hosts will have fun racing these streets again.
and if i am right, Ghost Recon Phantoms too should get a similar revival just like this one.

NFS World already had an overall depressing vibe to its streets, colors, soundtrack, lighting, among others, and, after the game shut down, that ended up becoming 10x more depressing because of having to say goodbye, and because of the memories we all made with it.
Now, if this comment reaches anyone in 2024, I highly recommend downloading Soapbox Race World. A group of dedicated fans did an absolutely stellar job at bringing the game back to life and even adding some amazing new stuff, like cars, vinyls, performance parts, skills, aftermarket parts, events, weekly challenges, time trials, different events for the S class (which is now split between S1 and S2), new car brands that weren't in the original (such as Honda, Peugeot and Fiat), a new Misc performance part, and even a Drift class. You should definitely give it a shot and thank me later in case you never heard of it!
The dark setting, the music...it's just so sad. Goodbye NFSW ;)
