- Hello there! It's been a minute, unless you've been checking out my live streams. I thought today would be a good day to talk about some awesome Star Wars warships. The Endurance-class is the only "real" Star Wars vessel but considering Legends isn't Canon, the Impellor and Magister-class are equal in their validity. I loved the New Republic Navy sooooooooooooooo much... the Nebula Class, the Endurance Class... the New Fleet Modernization turned out some of the most aesthetically pleasing ships and fleets. They all felt like a natural evolution of the Republic's Clone Wars era military..
Yes, although Star War chemistry, design, and architecture leans towards Brutalistic and Monolithic designs that as a viewer u can sense the ancient vibes and aura when u see their ship's and building's to their technology. But the new republic ship's are certainly eye pleasing with their curved edges and almost smooth hull armor configuration unlike the Empire ship's which are blocky, with various degree of potruding elements in every corner of their ship's and how their hull armor arrangements are monoliths kinda arrangements.
Only if my garage had a fraction of that capacity xD

I really wish that the Impellor-class Fleet Carrier was introduced into one of the animated series, like The Clone Wars or Rebels.
Even a First Order version (Like the Colossus) for Resistance.
True! Would’ve been an epic introduction. I think it’s the best looking of the three main fleet carriers I discussed.

@@StarWarsOddball Yes, and maybe if the Emperor had actually listened to Thrawn about developing the TIE interceptors rather than the Death Star. As you mentioned, the Rebels’ starfighters were some of their greatest advantages. The Empire could have matched them with the TIE interceptors becoming the norm, as the rebel starfighters ended up destroying the Death Star anyway.
Exactly! Although Thrawn’s project was mostly focused on TIE Defenders, which is probably what you mean by Interceptors. He also advocated for more ISDs, and a larger Imperial Fleet, rather than the Death Star.
@@StarWarsOddball Yes, sorry! My brain accidentally did not brain. But under the TIE defender project, the Defenders would have been like the interceptors and the interceptors would have been like mainstream TIEs, if I remember correctly. The Empire would have had a much better chance in the war with a better navy.
Yeah, the Empire would be pretty overpowered with Defenders and Interceptors dominating the skies haha

I'm still quite partial to the Lucherhulk over other Star Wars carriers (or ships in general). I think it does the carrier job the best. Cool ships though.
I understand the appeal of the Lucre-hulk! It’s definitely a unique design and looks super cool. Although I find without its fighter complement it’s very vulnerable seeing that it was never designed to be a warship. But it definitely carries enough fighters haha

6:16 Weren't the vulture droids, actual droids? I didn't realize they were operated by a droid climbing inside of them.
Vulture droids are actual droids; which is why they are so easily compacted within droid warships, Lucre-hulks specifically. Sorry for any confusion in the vid!
What I would do to watch a Clone Wars like New Republic Edition series (+Thrawn and friends) with Nebula and Endurance Star Destroyers. Their dynamic would be like the Victory and Venator of the OG Republic, just more specialized (btw, I love all four of those ships).

Very similar! I believe its based on the Compellor-class however.
Same designer, Fractalsponge makes the best Imperial ship designs, he also designed the Endurance iirc.
@@StarWarsOddball other way around oddly enough, at least in terms of Fractal's designs, in universe that's probably true, he also made a version of the Gladiator called the Provocator which does something similar.
Interesting! Yeah, I love Fractalsponge’s designs, a legend for sure.
@@StarWarsOddball yeah Fractal's idea for the Gladiator and Impellor is that the Provocator and Compellor came first in universe, since it's easier to remove mass from a design than add it, shows how he's one of the few who REALLY Puts thoughts into the design from a realism standpoint given the technologies involved. He also desgined the Proclamator as a predecessor to the Acclamator and it's probably one of my favourite designs.
Fractalsponge's designs are what Star Wars would look like if it was more of a Sci-Fi/Fantasy mix rather than just Space Fantasy He's to Imperial fan designs what EC Henry is to Rebel. (though I really like some of EC Henry's imperial designs, especially the TIE Fighter Hyperdrive ring)

It can! I believe the creator of the vessel stated two ISDs could fit keel to keel, or something like that.
@@StarWarsOddball i believe it said two victory class no? i mean, if we put just a normal isd straight down. Can it lay there? Im tryna make a good guess on size for recreation purposes
The Setting's focus on big gun battleships over carriers has always seemed kind of dumb to me.
I remember hearing somewhere that George Lucas had deliberately made the ISDs and larger capital ships reminiscent of old navy vessels. Which is why they’re less like modern navy’s and aircraft carriers.
@@StarWarsOddball Probably why all the command officers are brits too. Where dose that imperial accent come from in star wars?
The core worlds typically. Which is why people like Director Krennic stand out so much. A lot of elitism in the core worlds, especially Coruscant.
@@StarWarsOddball Yet Tarkin and Palpatine where both firmly from the mid/outer rim. At least Leia grew up on a core world so her faking the accent half the time in A New Hope sort of made sense.
Most of the reason modern day fleet doctrine does not rely on big battleships is because fighters outrange shell range, which is the opposite in Star Wars. Also line of sight is pretty straight in space
i really do not like the defender starfighter. In what's a really good comprehensive upgrade to the clone wars republic military, it just looks so janky and out of place
