i really like ships like the tector because they are not do everything ships. Staw wars really lacks alot of ship variation in some places, especially in new canon.
It would have made far more sense for a ship like the Tector or Allegiance class to serve at the core of Republic/Imperial taskforces in the flagship/meatshield role, and be flanked by Venators in the support roll. But alas, the Tarkin doctrine.
They don’t suck, they are excellent carriers. However they aren’t very good battleships and when it comes to ship to ship engagements they aren’t versatile.
