  • Hello there! I hope you all enjoyed this discussion surrounding the Imperial Light Cruiser, I love the design of this vessel and shake my head at the fact that it had to be destroyed in the Mandalorian. However, we could be getting some other awesome vessels in future installments. If I missed anything or you have some other suggestions on discussions let me know in the comments section. Make sure to subscribe if you have not already done so and feel free to like the video! Have an amazing day and may the force be with you. #starwars #mandalorian #darthvader

Ah, Arquitens-Class. I love my ISDs but this little workhorse is under-appreciated.

The arquitens command cruiser is not the same as Gideon's. Gideon's is nearly double the length and is much more heavily arme. Also the imperial arquitens did not have the hangar

Yes, it’s a Class 546 Cruiser model. However it’s still an Arquitens-class Command Cruiser sharing the same design aspects and weapons placements. There are no specifics on its weapons systems. But it does have a hangar capable of holding TIEs and shuttles, where’s the smaller models can only hold a small number of TIEs within the spares.

The hangar is kinda lore breaking cause it’s not supposed to be able to fit. I think the commando cruiser did have a hangar we just never saw it cause no main character ever hung around this ship before the Mandalorian

YES!! My favorite ship in Star Wars, able to hold fighters, bombers and other nice things while also having nice weapons systems for its size. Although like someone already said, the lancer frigate from legends is an insane counter to the rebels, those and an interdictor-418 cruiser would and could crush entire rebel fleets by themselves.

All by themselves?! I don’t know much about the Lancer but I’ll have to look into it. The Light Cruiser is one of the best looking designs out there

Well they’d probably need supports, sorry I wasn’t really thinking with that one, but they could ruin fighters and would straight up stop the rebel fighter advantage.

Oh ok! Regardless I’ve heard good things about the lancer. The only downside I found was its speed, but I could be mistaken.

I love the Arquitens' versatility, so much so that in my Star Wars AU, I have my version of the Empire of the Hand repurpose them, specifically, to be exploration and scouting vessels, the *Explorer* sub-class. Honestly, the exploration of space is something severely lacking in SW. You can't tell me in a galaxy of literal billions of stars that everywhere has already been explored. A smaller ship like this class, but still able to pack a punch when needed, would be perfect for the role, IMO.
One Arquitens in particular, the "RRS Intrepid" (named after the premier class of exploratory vessels in a certain other sci fi universe), is commanded by Captain Mitth'shra'nuruodo -- Shran, the son of a certain Grand Admiral, and he and his crew get in all kinds of situations, like tricking a Yuuzhan Vong warship into getting itself sucked into a black hole.

I would love to see a story involving Captain Shran and the crew of the RRS Intrepid! I’ve also loved the idea of sci-fi exploration and I agree that Star Wars lacks in that department.

@@StarWarsOddball Wich do you think would win in a fight. 1 star destroyer or 20 light cruiser. Each have 50 tiefighters and 40 tiebombers and the star destroyer is command by Darth Vader and the light cruisers are command by Thown

    • @StarWarsOddball
      @StarWarsOddball  ปีที่แล้ว +1

That’s a crazy scenario!! Let’s see, the ISD would be out gunned and Thrawn is the most brilliant tactician. HOWEVER, Darth Vader is Darth Vader, he’s unbeatable. Whenever he shows up, it’s game over. I think the ISD would be destroyed but it would take out a majority of the Light Cruisers, if not all. At that point Thrawn would make the wise decision to retreat and Vader would return back to the Emperor.

Personally I'm more a fan of the Carrack-class, it's much better armed, versatile, and more useful than the Arquitens.
It's a pity that disney canon forgot about it. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised. 🤦

It’s a ship that began in Legends, it served the Republic, the Empire, and just about everyone who could get their hands on it.
It actually had two main configurations; an anti-capital ship load out with 10 heavy turbolasers and 20 ion cannons. While the anti-starfighter load out swapped out the ion cannons for 20 laser cannons.
Also while you’re looking up the Carrack, may I also recommend the Strike-class medium cruiser. That’s another really good ship that the Empire used and could be configured for various mission profiles.

Yeah the original EU canon (Legends canon) has a lot of good ships for the Empire, Rebellion/New Republic, and other factions of note in the pre and post Endor period
