    Hi Andrew, you’re doing great job. Back in my past I was using a backhoe to uproot trees with little effort, I would put the end of the arm of the backhoe about 4 feet off the ground beside the tree, with the bucket on the backside then push the tree to the side with arm, just far enough to line the middle of the bucket with the tree, then with bucket extended go all the way to to the ground until the bucket dig in a little, then curl the bucket inward while pulling the arm in. That has always uprooted the trees easily for me. Keep up the great work, hopefully this helps.

    You are doing great! I remember well the first time someone tossed Bobcat keys at me and told me to go do work. Let's just say nobody else ever ran it slower than me. Letsdig18 makes it look easy but he's been doing this stuff for like 20 years. Anyway there is one other reason your excavator makes sense: resale value. You are not going to put thousands of hours on that machine and wear it out. It is going to be low hours like-new forever. You can always sell it if you ever had to. No problem. So it is pretty low risk long-term. A wise choice.

    You are doing great Andrew. If you had an 8-inch or 10 inch bucket like for trenching, that's easier to dig out around the roots of trees. The smaller buckets you can get more precise around a tree without digging up a bunch of ground. I hope that helps.
    I still love that grappler in action.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've already bought a 12 inch bucket and a 36. Problem is the thumb pin is 15 inches wide. That almost eliminates any bucket smaller than 16 inches for true digging. I still think a ripper tooth is the way to go for trees and stumps.

    Dude, get out that welder and a few cylinders and build some retorts (and/or some wood gasifiers) -- would love to see some vids of that. Burning slash is such a waste. Throw that wood in a retort: 10x less harm to the atmosphere and you get rewarded with bio-char. The list is too long for what you can do with bio-char, but it's awesome for gardens and pastures. Provides mind boggling surface area for beneficial bacteria and other soil fauna,flora and fungi and it takes hundreds of years to break down (definitely a feature).
    A decent sized wood gasifier could easily heat your house durning the winter.
    These kinds of things seem like they'd be right up your alley, in addition to being content-crack -- especially in the hands of someone w/your array of skills.
    Don't waste that slash -- look at every output as a potential input.
