Coming from the future. Botan just revealed behind the scenes about this tournament. Apparently botan got extreme major hate after losing the first 2 cr cup tournaments to the point she said she might die or hate sf6 completely. Acqua san and Korone both talked to her with Acqua saying she should withdraw from the tournament and later Botan talked to Korosan upon a chance message sent by Korosan. Botan let her tears out and cried to Korosan who then said if Botan would chose to continue to enter the 3rd tournament Korone would do a mirror stream and cheer for botan. Botan said she forgot about the people who supported her and only saw the haters but her talk with Korosan reminded her of the support and gave her a reason to participate and get her first win
Even though she's hyper-specced and generally incredibly chill and cool, as Subaru has pointed out, Botan still has a childish side to her, and while usually that's a huge point of gap-moe, in moments like this it definitely just reveals how precious she really is.
Ever since her debut there is her soft side. Sometimes it is during unfortunate events (Aloe, Coco), sometimes you see how she really loves her gen mates, (which is why lamy loves her. She also does a lot of sweet things during her anniversaries for her gen mates, like making ramen for them from scratch.
_This_ is fighting games. The story of taking a loss hard, and then coming back later to get a big win is something I'll never get tired of. It's always great to see someone put in the work and improve.

She's been to 2 other tourneys and lost all of her matches, although she won a few sets, and she also lost her other 2 matches this tourney. So this win was big for her, especially after how crushed she felt following her previous tourney.
After the last CR Cup where both Botan and Korone cried tears of sadness over the former's loss, it's amazing that we now have an uplifting parallel situation a few months later. Big congrats to Botan for a hard-earned victory!

Joining her streams to train with her outside of the Cup practices, putting her in his team every CR Cup, despite his silliness and antics Dogura’s truly a great guy. As he said before the first cup, more than him winning he wants to see his teammates succeed.

She said she had received invitations to participate but turned them down because she did not have enough time to practice. She herself mentioned during the streaming that the level of the participants had increased and that it was difficult for her to keep up with them because she had not played Street Fighter 6 recently and was rusty.
She did so well, I'm so proud of her! Hearing her cry after she lost last time broke my heart, but hearing those tears of joy now... very proud of her!
After that first round loss, she found her pace and absolutely crushed it. She may not have won every match after, but she should be damn proud of how much she's accomplished. I know I am.

Botan puts so much pressure on herself to do well, probably because she knows how skilled she really is. Add the pressure of a team tournament and its no wonder she gets overwhelmed with emotions during these events.
It is surreal seeing this after her previous CR Cup fights. Like she went from two extremely tense, narrow defeats to this commanding victory. Though also Botan's Lily really feels like they gave her a cannon when compared to her very defensive and calculating Marisa.
Damn, I am super proud of Botan! I knew she could do it. As a Marisa main, it makes me a bit sad because I wanted to see Botan winning with her, but Lily is definitely more her style because she can "snipe". Her gameplan was done really well, she didn't waste any movement and her meter awareness was fantastic.
Fighting games are so hard, it takes practice and a TON of losses to win. Botan practices and put in the work and sets to come out on top. I’m so happy for her she deserves it.
Tbf playing at a pro level is something most people don't get to experience - that feeling of trying your best and falling short isn't something a lot of people experience. Faker or Keria crying at LoL finals doesn't make them weak. Most people don't have the context regarding the effort needed to compete at that level.

Yeah that might have been the most impressive part. That and overall discipline. Played very patiently, chose jump ins well, walked back a lot but knew when to hold her ground, didn't panic in the corner. Clear results of practice and poise.

I couldn't bear to see Botan cry when I found out that she lost. The last time I saw that was when Coco was graduating. Here, she improved tremendously and got a win for her team. This doesn't feel hard to bear at all. More of a "yatta" moment for the lion.

She's learned how to pressure after plus frames as well as reacting to DI. Imagine if she also learns how to consistently anti-air with Spike (the DP move). I'd genuinely be scared to face her on the ranked ladder.
