Some analysis in simple terms for people who don’t play fighting games:
The idea behind K4sen’s “grasshopper” fighting style is that Dee Jay has a unique jumping light kick attack, the one you see a lot in this video with his knee sticking out. This move doesn’t do much damage but is an effective way of closing in on the opponent. Its hurtbox is active for a long time, it does weird things to Dee Jay’s air momentum, and it will always allow Dee Jay to act first if it makes contact with the opponent on the ground, regardless of whether it hits or is blocked. However, Korone does a good job of staying active and constantly fighting back, using a mix of jumps and attacks when K4sen jumps in, making it more difficult for K4sen to land this attack cleanly and maintain offensive pressure.
At 5:40, Korone makes a huge comeback by piling on damage from projectiles. As pointed out in the last section of the video, K4sen appears to lack matchup knowledge and doesn’t know that JP has multiple kinds projectiles that have to be blocked in different ways. K4sen is blocking while crouched, which normally is a good way to defend against projectiles without moving backwards, but Korone is specifically using a projectile that can’t be blocked while crouching, which is why K4sen keeps taking damage. That’s not to say that Korone isn’t doing really good work here, she’s perfectly timing the projectile and spike follow-up to force K4sen to stay on the defensive and not allowing him any time to realize his mistake.
At 9:03, Korone tries to combo into JP’s Level 3 Super Art but misses. However, the combo she did was actually correct! The reason she missed is because of a very small timing mistake on her part. After Korone lands the big Drive Impact, Dee Jay starts to crumple before she follows up with the combo, and if you look closely, you’ll see that Dee Jay’s knees touch the ground. This is significant because when a character reaches that point in the crumple animation, any hit will immediately render them airborne, which will knock them slightly further up and backwards than normal. As a result, Korone’s combo knocks K4sen just a little too far backwards and the Super Art misses.
Broadly, I think it’s really awesome that Korone has been working so hard on Street Fighter, I really admire how clean her inputs are on an arcade stick.

For context: Nanai is a commentator and a Master rank JP that Kazunoko brought on to teach Korone (and he helped her a ton!) and Kazunoko is literally one of the best players in the entire FGC, period (in multiple games too). So it's some of the best players in the world praising Korone's progress (yes, she's still a relative newbie, but the point is she's growing super fast as a player).
Also, Karubi's matches were extremely hype to watch as well (I won't spoil the results!), so I suggest you watch them to see the team going crazy there too (and Korone lost her other match, to a Blanka, but mostly cause she didn't know the matchup, but she got some practice and tips from Nanai afterward).
Basically, Team KaZOOnoKo ("children of ka zoo", with "zoo" written in English lol and obviously a play on "Kazunoko") is looking pretty damn good all around.

No, Korone actually knows about the Blanca matchup, thats why the day before this Day1 scrim, she specifically asked the coaches to teach her how to counter/defend against Blanca’s rolling attack thingy, cuz thats the part that shes having a hard time with, thats why Nanai trained her prior to this day, they also had Shaka-san to play as Blanca to have a match with her so she can practice parrying Blanca’s rolling attacks.
Shes just not used to the timing yet, shell get right consistently soon enough considering her pace in learning.

This Street Fighter arc has been amazing to watch. Seeing Korosan interacting with her teammates for the first time, receiving advices from her coach and implementing them during the matches, you can tell how much effort she's seriously putting into this tournament. Her team's atmosphere is great too, with everyone cheering on each other, it's really what fighting game is all about. She just needs to improve on her guard in the corner. Daigo said Korone's JP seems really strong with range attack but appears to struggle with in your face approach in the corner.

    • @kinoleogeo7998
      @kinoleogeo7998 ปีที่แล้ว

It makes sense, zoners are often weaker at close ranges. It’s part of the archetype like grapplers being weak at far but scary close. JP however has a strong counter stance and pretty strong normals that lead into get off me specials. Koro-San just needs to use her fast normals (ex. Crouching LP) to check opponents during scrambles and remember to jump over opponents when cornered.

Reminder to people this is scrims aka practice. For tournaments like these it's fairly known that competitors turn it up to 20 when it comes tournament day

Man, look at how much she's improved in just a short time. Crazy! She has a really good team with her.
Also love how you can see chat go absolutely wild when she got the Perfect K.O.

Ngl those ranged spam attacks look super annoying to fight against.
Still super impressive what Korone did.

I guess I've watched too much Darksyde Phil that I find it SO refreshing to see and hear someone playing an SF game and not complain when a round goes badly. I mean, when Korone misses, she says *"I MISSED,"* instead of *"SHIT, THIS GAME IS GARBAGE!!!"* or *"SHIT, WHAT'S WITH THIS LAG???"* I hope Korone does well in the tournament.

That's our Precious Dogg for you, no matter the struggles and the trial and errors that she faces, she keeps positive, learns from her mistakes and triumphants in the end. Congratulations Korone! You deserve it. 👏

As a bronze level player, she beat a gold rank, playing a character that isn't newbie friendly. Being thrown into the corner in this game is even worse that previous Street Fighters and JP doesn't have as many tools as other characters to escape it. The corner pressure JP offers is also a blessing in disguise - a secret weapon for Korone to lean on when she's been over-matched. sasuga doggo

Karubi POV link currently opens the wrong stream from 2 days ago instead of this one about 15 hours ago. Timestamp on the right stream is about 2:35:30 for anyone wondering.

If she can be consistent with the zoning, then it's certain that she would win. She still has issues with dealing with pressure, but she's getting good. I hope she sticks with fgs.

From casual playing SFV to tourney ready SF6, so proud of Korone indeed.
Also her teacher vs Daigo was too good, his Cammy skill moves is very solid.
