Love this guy's enthusiasm! Hahah great review! Very good camera work, very in-depth, and we can see that you're truly passionate about what you do. I'm definitely considering buying this.
If you need to go fast on a budget. You buy a Honda. Slap a turbo kit on the K24 and it'll make 400whp easily. The engine is the best thing about the Si.
A cheapo 3.5l v6 from nissan would make 300whp with just boltons. Do you realize what would happen if you did a big turbo+injectors? around 600hp. Oh wait, you just made yourself a GTR using an altima engine.. hmmm A civic with a turbo wont make much more than 350whp, not to mention it will have HALF the torque.
shadoDaishi A Civic can make 400whp... That being said, you can't do it for cheap. You would need forged pistons, full exhaust with high flow cats, intake, a professional tune, and many many more reinforcing parts to keep the engine reliable. Youd also need a host of suspension mods, great tires, and a front strut tower brace to keep the thing from wheel hopping like a maniac instead of accelerating. If you wanna do it with stock internals the most I'd recommend putting is about 8psi of boost, which wouldn't yield more than 250-280whp. No point in putting in that kind of money and time to a civic imo but some people really love tuning cars and the SI is a fantastic starting point for sure, so more power to them.
vlegaspi I was saying only with a turbo kit, u can make it faster, but only a turbo kit would not have 200 hp gains, which is what the guy I was replying to said
I test drove an SI coupe and ended up getting the sedan. The coupe is awesome, but the sedan is just amazingly practical while still being just as fun. Good review, I agree about the radio touch screen, but once I got used to the steering wheel buttons, the radio controls are much easier. It's definitely a driver-centric console.
I have a 2020 Type R and I’d honestly go for a 2014 si couple over the 10 gen series. I love the 8th gen, but I give the slight edge to the 9 gen because of the torque. I love the higher revs of the 8th, but it doesn’t do me any good when that’s not my style of driving. Very close matchup, but 9>8. My rank would be 9th, 8th, last 10th. Love my Type R though.
His enthusiasm mirrors what most of us would be acting like if we had a chance to drive this car. Nothing he said seemed to be inspired by anything other than the mere experience of driving this car and this is how it should be.
I traded in my EVO X for the 2014 Si and I have to admit that I am happy overall. I was picking between a GTI, Si and Genesis. The transmission and overall features sold me.
+Clinton Coleman I just traded my 13 GTI that I K04d for a 15 SI coupe and im loving it. Previous car before the GTI was a fully bolted 370z check my channel if anyone doubts me. My RSV4 is my race machine and I got tired of driving around harsh sports cars for dailys. The SI interior and features are really good and only my A4 had a higher quality feel.
I just traded in my 2012 Si Coupe for a 2015 Si Coupe. I know not a lot of people disliked the styling of the 2012 Coupe (inside and out), with mass hatred it seemed. But for me the 2012 was one of the best Si styles of them all, for my tastes. It was sleek, more mature, and less gaudy. It's still my favorite body style out of all of them, from '89 to '09. I thought the 2012 looked more refined, with perfect lines that all had purpose around the entire car. But I'm also a little older than your average Si owner. The 2015 is much more aggressive looking (obviously) with the "Transformers" looking front fascia, and a steroidal rear-deck wing. After coming out of the more elegant 2012 coup design it's a bit odd. But at the same time it's also a nice change I guess. If I could have the 2012 body on everything else "2015" then I would have my personal favorite Si. But regardless of the current body styling (which is growing on me day by day) I am really loving my new car, for so many different reasons. The things that really matter (to me anyway) between the two cars are the vast (and extremely noticeable) improvements in the '15's overall handling characteristics, the suspension stiffness while under pressure (centrifugal forces & exchanges in weight), it's overall responsiveness, balance, throttle, and sharp steering. The differences from 2012 to 2015 (2014) are quite extreme. The 2012's rear-end was much to soft and gooey, it's body-roll was down right atrocious, and the throttle response (or lack their-off) was really annoying, in the way it would "Rev-Hang" during clutching or when off the gas. It had no engine down pull, or reverse torque pull. It was bad, and I notice now that I have it again. It's a debilitating issue on the 2012, especially when coupled with the other things I mentioned. But that's not to say that I didn't have a lot of fun in that car. Because I did. I just didn't realize it's flaws until I got a 2015. This 2015 has a much stiffer rear-end feel, and it tracks around corners very well under high-speed and through peak torque & shifts. It's rear doesn't sag or lift while accelerating through an apex, which vastly improved it's overall balance during hard weight exchanges (from side to side, front to rear/rear to front) The "12's rear would sag under hard acceleration, then bounce up under deceleration or at a shift point, which would throw off the pitch/weight. This monumental flaw in the 2012 (coupled with the rev-hang) made hard pulls through single (and/or) multi-cornered lines. Driving the 2012 hard, and at high speeds/weight exchanges was a very unnerving experience most of the time. I never did find a workaround that helped, not that I'm a race car driver or anything. But I've been driving "fun" for a long time. The "12 lacked even decent balance, tracking, and most of all "vehicle confidence" through twisty exit/entrance ramps or desolate back roads. The '99 Si tore through exit ramps and corners with a $40K car feel, it just felt really confident. The '12 lacked so many of those past Si handling traits found on the '09 and '99 Coupes. (I can't find anything exciting about the sedan/4 door. It's just a personal thing I have for coupes, the two longer doors, and less cuts and handles. Much nicer, cleaner quarter panels and lines on coupe, in my view But the 2015 Si's handling improvements alone make for a completely different car from what I was just driving last week. It's a lot stiffer/sought under harder pressures & forces, it doesn't fish around in the rear, or lump up and down while on/off the acceleration @ peak torque through corners, and even straight line pulls. The '15 is just so much better because of handeling alone, especially at the rear. It's the ride is actually smoother during normal cruising/city driving, and the car feels just a hair larger, or might just be tighter overall. Speed and cornering is much more nimble, and it just feels well built from the 2012, which felt loose and less refined in it's road characteristics. The 2015's standard tire & rim combo adds an extra inch in diameter (18" rim) and a bit wider tread (at +10mm) with 225/40/18 Continentals, over the lesser performing Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 (215/45R/17) on the 2012 standard package. It's a difference that certainly helps matters for the newer Si, for sure. Couple that with the larger rear-sway bar, better around suspension and dampening, a lot less play in the steering, and much quicker response of the "by wire" gas peddle and throttle responsiveness. No more "Rev Hang" which makes the '15 a pleasure to drive each day. I like to feel the car pull me forward when I left off the gas. Not waver back and forth for 3-4 seconds. I didn't realize how much that Rev Hang screwed up the '12's pull and push response (or torque bump) when trying to stay on/in that peak torque area while through a hard corner. Plain and simple... The 2015 Si coupe is probably the best Si that "I've" driven so far. Others may disagree. I've lived with quite a few over a few decades, and this is my favorite (from a driving standpoint) after just a week and a few days of owning it.
Jarret Holy long post! I agree the 12 si looks the best, I have one as a beater 3rd car. Simple tune would have remedied the rev hang and you can easily beef up the suspension and tires.
What I love the most of Honda (specially civic) is that keeps up with its direct commpetitors keeping the N/A setup instead of those models who need to turbocharge to get proper numbers I think thats amazing of this cars and also Unique nowadays!
My 2012 lease is up next summer and I'm really hoping Honda doesn't step backwards between this and the 2015. I love my 2012, but the refinements they've made since then, plus the added HP and torque really have me drooling to upgrade instead of buying my 2012. Fantastic review. Loved your enthusiasm.
Couple things to note from a 2012 Si owner- The wheel is fine, but there is no place to put your elbows and still reach the wheel. You are left with your arms hanging always. Visibility is fine EXCEPT for the drivers side A pillar. It is a real problem on tight left hand turns. Several times I have had cars over the line obscured by the A pillar. Your comments on Torque steer are interesting. I don't notice it much in my '12. I'm debating on keeping my coupe, getting a '15 Si sedan, or switching to a WRX next year. I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts comparing the '15 WRX to the Si.
To be honest, Honda's new cars are really good looking and spectacular. The new Accords look really good and even the lower trims of the Civic are really gorgeous. Btw great video matt! :D love your reactions and your enthusiasm!
lol i own a 2015 civic si in taffeta white and its so much fun i never want to get out of the car. i did my own 0-60 time and i did it in 6.2 seconds. and i did top speed i was able to reach 145 while being 500rpm away from redline.
The shot of the shifter at about 5:47 looked like you had a the emergency brake on. Probably did and edited it in, but it just looked like you were driving with it on.
Woah 2009 Civic Si is a bit too sharp? Isn't that supposed to be good? I know about street practicality, but still, buying a Civic Si for its sharpness is what it is all about in my opinion. Having the latest model being softer sounds like a downgrade to me.
thaik56 I have a 2017 Civic Si and it’s still a blast to drive it doesn’t sound anything like the previous gens sadly but it’s definitely the fastest Si ever made which to me makes up for sound.
Was never really a big fan of the Civic. Last one I liked was the late 90's ones. Wanted to get a tC when I save up but I'm considering this. Really impressed
Kirei Edwards For the price its the best option. The tC has a lot of features that I'd have to pay atleast another 3-4k just to have. Plus with the Si, I'd need to put Premium in it and I dont want to spend nearly $4/gallon on it
I have a '13 Si Sedan... I'm so jealous of the updated interior, touch screen, and push to start. It took me a while to grow on the looks of the exterior, but it sure is a great car. I'm glad you enjoy the Si.
HDMI port is not for videos... It's for the iPhone navigation app. You plug your iPhone through that port and the car screen turns into an iPhone screen with certain apps being displayed. Mainly for navigation.
I had an 06 civic and was lookin into a 2014 si. I tested one out and I was EXTREMELY underwhelmed with how slow it was, I really wish they would use a turbocharged engine
rjkpogii I believe the Si will not be turboed honestly. If a civic Si cost around 23k, and its turboed. Why would I get the civic type r or civicx for 30k? Ill probably lack 50 HP if the Si is turboed, ill give it a nice intake, nice down pipe and exhaust, plus a tune, ill probably get the "turboed Si" close to the type r's HP. Then Itll be pointless to buy the type r. Then why would Honda make the type r?
mmhh Thats true, I vaguely remember something about the new generation of Si being boosted, but I forgot where I read/heard that. We'll see in the future, hopefully it could keep up with the Type R and other competitions
It actually really does! It even has a shift light that builds from yellow to red :D Also, gotta say I love your video review of the GT86. I favorited that video and every time I re-watch it, I want to just run out and buy one an FR-S or BRZ!
Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate anything with an engine, its a good looking car and I'm sure it's fun to drive, but so many people talk about them like they rule the road or are kings of racing, those people clearly haven't owned or driven a truly fast and high performance car.
subaruwrxfan I always jerk when i shift from 1st to 2nd. I was wondering what would help to stop it from jerking all the time. I been driving manual for a month now.
You should let go of the clutch slower so it won't jerk, to start from 1st gear release the clutch slowly when your car starts to move. For up hill brake, and shift into neutral to leave from a uphill just accelerate and let go of the clutch a bit faster then normal.
+Erikc K20 Continue driving a shift. The "jerking" problem you're having is that you don't let the clutch slip enough: you need to release the clutch pedal progressively. At first, your left leg will hurt but with time, you'll do it like a champ! Keep in mind that manuals are cheaper to maintain, replace, are lighter, more sturdy & reliable than autos. Also, when pulling heavy loads, you're more in control.
I like the 2013 So better then the 2014. It looks not vary good in the front. I would buy the sedan over the could for 2014. This is coming from a die hart Honda fan. It was a vary good video.
I like the interior more in the 2014, but the whole touchscreen system/keyless entry isn't doing it for me. I have a 2013 Si myself and I'm very happy I have it over this.
This was the first of your videos I ever watched back in Spring 2015. Matt Maran is the only one who can turn SubaruWRXfan into one syllable. Scrolling back to old vids just to hear it again hahaha. We love your vids! You’ve come a long way!
really wish that there were an automatic transmission option, love the car look the only thing is I can't drive manual though I could learn but sometimes my family may borrow the car and they can't drive manual either
Please don't add the automatic Honda! If you want auto, get the regular civic coupe. This car is meant to be driven with manual. Auto takes away the soul and fun of it. Auto = not real driving.
With all the new cars coming mostly with auto, i'm glad atleast Honda is keeping the SI's manual only. If you want a sporty, fun car like the SI you should learn manual, it would just take all the fun out of the SI if it was auto.
I must say I have come to love your reviews. You are clear and concise with how you speak and you do your reviews at a very good pace. Your comments are also very good. And what I like most is how genuine you seem and the fact that you have an appreciation for everything and an overall positive attitude. You are a true car lover without bias or prejudice, who understands how to view cars for what they are. Nice to see. Keep up the good work.
Great review. I traded my Acura MDX lease for this car but the four door (Dyno Blue Pearl). Saving a lot of money in gas. The car drives super nice. The engine has a lot of pull and sounds good (specially when the vtech kicks in). I owned a G35 and Integra GSR a few years ago. I have to say, this car feels really sporty but yet comfortable for my daily commute. The trunk space is fantastic. The stock radio is very user friendly and it sounds good.
I love the new Si, Honda has a package you can get for them called the HFP or Honda Factory Performance package. It adds a nice sporty body kit and lowers the ride height by an inch and a half, it does the car very well. I think its damn near perfect with the HFP kit.
I like watching your videos and you talked about what you doing clear but you only show yourself when you driving, i believe that some time the viewers want to see the view of what you look at when you test drive.
People, don't buy a FWD car to mod it to go fast. For a bit more than the 23-25 grand for this civic SI, you can get a WRX. It's just as easy to mod, and is AWD, so you get none of the downsides of a FWD system. No torque steer, no loss of grip, less chance of wheel hop, and it already has a turbo on it. Another choice is a BRZ if you can afford a bit more a turbo it, it will put down the power much better than a civic.
Insurance for young drivers is a b*tch though... I want a wrx but my dad thinks that a Dodge Dart would be good for me (hell no!!!). In the end, a used focus ST would be way more cost efficient, and have 252 hp.
An FRS/BRS makes around the same power as an Si. And a turbo isn't the best option for one, the 86 lacks low end torque, so a supercharger would be a much more appropriate option.
Awesome Review!!! You may attention to all the things I care about. And I love how you mention the little things like storage space and the induction noise. This is way better than other reviews from companies. Keep up the great reviews!!!!!!!!
first review ive heard from you and i have to say im very impressed with your presentation. very very thorough and you get straight to the point. and i like how you explain things quickly but very simply so the information you cover is detailed but not too drawn out. keep up the excellent work!
man that new interior display is a fingerprint MAGNET! that would drive me nuts. Im still totally satisfied with my 13 si sedan. Good review though as always man. I like the new dual camera transitions while your driving, that was an awesome touch!
I love watching your reviews. Your points are right on, but also it's obvious you really enjoy driving a car in general. Joy is a great thing :) I own a Honda Civic coupe and I smile every time I drive it!
Fantastic job with all your reviews. Been shopping around for cars and you have been the most helpful in me making my decision. Keep up the excellent job and pursue what you love!
That would make you one of the lucky few. Even if we assume build quality is comparable, (which I don't think it is), the GLI is still $6000 more expensive at best. That's /way/ above the $25k price-point.
don't get me wrong, i love honda civics and I'm well aware they're one of the toughest cars on the road. but equipment/tech you get nothing is touching that VW... i mean you can't even get an SI with leather seats
Ben Dover I paid 21k for a brand new 2014 Civic SI with 3 miles on the odometer. I'm not sure what "equipment/tech" I'm missing. 7 inch touchscreen, 7 speaker with 360 some odd watts and sub-woofer, back up camera, lane camera, two usb ports, and hdmi ports STANDARD. What exactly am i missing from the GLI. I hope it's ALOT considering the price difference.
Can you tell me where the road is at 7:45? It looks very familiar, it actually reminds me of Gilkeson Road, if you know it. Great review overall, my dad lives in Pittsburgh and just today bought a 2014 Si sedan so he didn't have to drive his FRS in the winter.
Dea Garic HID's our outdated now and they still don't have them. Even the Corolla has LEDs. It is close to a dealbreaker, since I'd have to fork out 800 to retrofit (if I don't want to do it myself)
If your talking about hid kit then theres no reason to be dissatisfied. You can grab one for $60. Yea i would like to see a projector headlights on civic but a big no for led's, halo/angel eyes ricey shit. Who needs that
Hey subaruwrxfan I just want say thanks! I just bought this car last month and it's certainly a fantastic car! I'm glad I found this video and channel, it's very helpful! Also, I wanted to say that keep doing what you're doing because you make great in-depth videos! SUBSCRIBED! :D
The 06-11 8th gen civic si is superior to the new one. Revs higher, better looking, responds better to mods, and it's cheaper. The only good thing about this one is that it's newer.
A v6 Camry would take the civic Si very easily. In a drag race. but when you put the Camry in a small track against the Si, the Si would probably win. The Si has a pretty good suspension, and the steering is very solid and let's the driver feel the road so much better. That's why the Si is more of a sports car than the v6 Camry. But then Camry came out with a sports edition with upgraded suspension and its a v6, but ita well over the Si's price.
I thought this was actually a very good review, and it is consistent with what I would expect from this new model. Having owned '08 and '11 Si coupes, I really like what I'm hearing. Thanks for the review.
8th gen is way better looking IMO. The red seats are tacky and so are the wheels. I can't believe I'm about to say this but it kind of looks like a fucking Tiburon.
Barry Lee 4th gen are prob. my all time favorite---The driving experience is so raw compared to the newer Gens... but they are much harder to find. My current DD is an RSX but I would pick up an 8th Gen coupe in a heartbeat.
Reverend Green That's even worse than comparing it to a Tiburon, and I agree. This is the redheaded stepchild of the Si. First they embarrassed themselves with the CR-Z-- which doesn't deserve to even be compared to the legendary CR-X. Then they made the 4-door option on the Si... now this fugly monstrosity. Honda is getting soft lol.
Hooning STi i dont care about the 2000 honda integra type r i hate hondas..... i hate seeing them being customized by people who thinks that they are fast! when customizing hondas you always get a ricer look!
ps31871 Hondas are fast. You just don't realize it. It's not fast in a straight line. NO! But in the corners. :D That's where you get the advantage. Real car people respect all cars! (Even Pruis's) It's your loss that you don't understand hondas.
Hooning STi muscle cars not able to corner is just one of those things in the past! most muscle cars have better lab times than other Europeans and Japanese cars! the new camaro z28 bears a gaytr!
This kid is really fun to watch. It's great to see someone doing what he loves. Kudos for staying positive and sincere and avoiding the snark that's so easy to fall into when reviewing a car.
Holy crap, Honda just keeps getting worse every year. When is that partnership with BMW going to happen? They seriously are lacking in the fun and beauty department. The civic SI looks like a freaking clothes iron, and that black grill is really ugly. Wth is wrong with honda?
Ryan Lohrenz Gotta admit, the front end of the coupe is pretty hideous though. I'm overjoyed with the fact that they didn't touch the Si sedan for 2014.
Eric Mulligan who r u kidding JDM fanboy?? The last 1 M was a hit and will go down as a classic. Currently them have the M235i and the M3/M4 are gonna dominate once out. Hell even the regular 3 and 4 series are astonishing in all departments of performance. The designs on them look great as well, ignoring their stupid SUV's and gran coupes. Be a bit more open minded pal, i'm a honda fan too but a partnership which they HAVE with BMW already in the works, is due real fast. They need to come up with an awesome product. Go read up on BMW and Honda's plans to create a sportscar. If Subaru and Toyota did it with the FRS/BRZ, why not give BMW and Honda a chance. Both amazing companies that can give and take a lot from each other. End note- this civic SI is FUGLY like everything else honda has right now, except the Accord coupe, which desperately needs an Acura badge on it.
I have read some of the comments below and that being said after owning several cars from BMW's to Mercedes Benz's as well as Hondas, Ford's, Lincoln's, GM's. I can honestly say best bang for the buck considering this is my daily driver. I agree they have come along way and do need slight improvements I think with seating. After driving it for 3 weeks now definitely agree making the right choice
I recently got this car 4 months ago and im in love. I do wanted to get a White colored one but the dealership only had a black one so i settled for that. I shouldve been patient for a white one.
Really well put together review. Probably one of the best I've seen on youtube and I've watched over a hundred easily. Keep up the excellent work! I own an 08'SI and prefer the screaming 2.0L...Test drove a 2012 coupe I prefer mine :)
The torque steer you talked about is not your normal bad torque steer. It has an LSD stock. It doesn't pull to one side like an open differential. When you're going straight, it keeps going straight through acceleration. When you're taking a corner and give it gas, the LSD tries to straighten the wheels no matter if you're cornering left or right. That's the torque steer you were feeling. It happens with RWD LSD too but not nearly as profound.
I love when a Subaru fan/driver reviews a Honda and loves it. Huge props for this video Matt. There is great info and a nice long drive.
this guy has the best reviews. he always gets so excited lol
only thing is, he says 'nice' a LOT hahaha
IMO, he could take it down a notch. Too much like a 13 year old. Slow it down a touch, stop slurring, and the professionalism goes way up.
Too excited he couldnt even pronounce his user name at the beginning. "Whats up everybody its subaruthurxfan here !!"
Bill Hetherington that's the true heart of a car enthusiast
bruh this guy does the best reviews on TH-cam
Love this guy's enthusiasm! Hahah great review! Very good camera work, very in-depth, and we can see that you're truly passionate about what you do. I'm definitely considering buying this.
Hey man. I'm subbed to you haha.
Alex Cantú Hahah small world!
Gtchy1230 ahah i watched some of your gta reviews like half a year ago, i may sub!! ;)
I have a 2013 Civic Si Sedan and I couldn't be happier with it! Its fun to drive and it only costs $40 to fill it up!
Love your vids gtchy
wow, I was waiting for someone to review the 2014 civic si coupe. To have subaruwrxfan review it so quickly is awesome!
If you need to go fast on a budget. You buy a Honda. Slap a turbo kit on the K24 and it'll make 400whp easily. The engine is the best thing about the Si.
it wouldnt make 400whp maybe 280-330
Brofessor G
Yes it can and would make 400+ to the wheels. There's a couple already here in youtube
It's definitely a driver-centric console.
you should start doing 0-60mph in your reviews. Love the channel and great editing!
My mom was considering getting a 2014 Civic Si. I will definitely send this video along to her.
I traded in my EVO X for the 2014 Si and I have to admit that I am happy overall. I was picking between a GTI, Si and Genesis. The transmission and overall features sold me.
Wow crazy, what made you trade it? Sold my g35 coupe and bough an 8thgen si. I am saving more money now
+Clinton Coleman I just traded my 13 GTI that I K04d for a 15 SI coupe and im loving it. Previous car before the GTI was a fully bolted 370z check my channel if anyone doubts me. My RSV4 is my race machine and I got tired of driving around harsh sports cars for dailys. The SI interior and features are really good and only my A4 had a higher quality feel.
Ima end up trading my wrx it gives me to
Much problems
Clinton getting rid of the Evo x for this is a HUGE downgrade
What drugs were you on??!?!?!?!?
I like the display pointing away from the passenger. Anything to keep their hands off of it. My car my music! Don't be touching my radio!
The gen 9 civic coups are the most beautiful of the whole lineup, in my opinion. Too bad gen 10 looks the way it does /:
Agreed. The front end of the 9th gen coupe is the best looking civic front end IMO.
I agree. 10th gen is hideous
not only that, but V-TEC is no longer a thing with the 10th gen civics.
Gen 8 is the besto
The 9th gen civic coup is also the BEST looking in the back too!
Much nicer, cleaner quarter panels and lines on coupe, in my view
But the 2015 Si's handling improvements alone make for a completely different car from what I was just driving last week.
Jarret
Holy long post!
I agree the 12 si looks the best, I have one as a beater 3rd car.
Simple tune would have remedied the rev hang and you can easily beef up the suspension and tires.
Omg nobody wants to read a novel
@@jonmcclane7433OMG.... I don't recall asking for your opinion on my posts. But thank you for this unrelated addition to the conversation.
Jarret no problem, Boomer 💥
I know this is from forever ago but thanks for the very detailed comment, I’m soon going to get a 2015 si!
What I love the most of Honda (specially civic) is that keeps up with its direct commpetitors keeping the N/A setup instead of those models who need to turbocharge to get proper numbers I think thats amazing of this cars and also Unique nowadays!
Subbed, amazing review bro... Great enthusiasm... You make me wanna buy every car you review lol
This
My 2012 lease is up next summer and I'm really hoping Honda doesn't step backwards between this and the 2015.
I love the high quality editing. Great review!
Thank you!
Was that going at a decline because these Si's max out at 135 unless you have a tune ... I own a FB6 crystal black pearl
The shot of the shifter at about 5:47 looked like you had a the emergency brake on. Probably did and edited it in, but it just looked like you were driving with it on.
I love his enthusiasm. He smiles like I do when I get on the throttle LOL
I just recently got the coupe si 2015 in blue. Best investment I've made so far. I can't seem to get out of the car. Its so fun to drive around town!
Brought the same exact car blue couple 2015 and I'm very satisfied
Matt Edmonds Never consider a car an investment.
***** the 2015 si's only come in manual
***** si's only come in manual.....
Matt Edmonds Just got my si sedan in Modern Steel... great car can't wait to experience it more
The wheels surprised me and the red for the inside good job Honda!
Trading in my 2013 Honda Civic for this car it so beautiful and I know I won’t regret 10/10 review mate !
Nice Review this is Actually like My dream Car planning on getting it in the not so distant future and your video just really helped
I'm really impressed with the video quality, editing and enthusiastic review. You keep getting better with each edition. Keep up the good work! :)
I recently purchase a 2014 Civic Si. I love it! its a huge head turner as well!
Was never really a big fan of the Civic. Last one I liked was the late 90's ones. Wanted to get a tC when I save up but I'm considering this. Really impressed
If you do get a Honda. Please don't rice it. :)
Hooning STi Yup haha
Kirei Edwards For the price its the best option. The tC has a lot of features that I'd have to pay atleast another 3-4k just to have. Plus with the Si, I'd need to put Premium in it and I dont want to spend nearly $4/gallon on it
NOLAItsNotOva Any new car within the 22-25k price range is trash. Shell out a couple more and buy a wrx.
Kirei Edwards Perhaps your sugar daddy brain washed you thinking everyone has big bucks to pay for vehicles.
I have a '13 Si Sedan... I'm so jealous of the updated interior, touch screen, and push to start. It took me a while to grow on the looks of the exterior, but it sure is a great car. I'm glad you enjoy the Si.
Been waiting a while for this
by far my favorite car reviewer appreciate your videos man
How many triple lattes did you have buddy
Great review
HDMI port is not for videos... It's for the iPhone navigation app. You plug your iPhone through that port and the car screen turns into an iPhone screen with certain apps being displayed. Mainly for navigation.
I had an 06 civic and was lookin into a 2014 si. I tested one out and I was EXTREMELY underwhelmed with how slow it was, I really wish they would use a turbocharged engine
RakanWD I ended up getting a 2010 g37s :)
RakanWD Sorry still slow.
MrTalkingturtle New generation of the Civic Si will be turbocharged since the Civic Type R is turbocharged
rjkpogii I believe the Si will not be turboed honestly.
Just want to say thanks for this in depth review. Went out and test drove one. And now i am Happy to say I am now a proud owner of a SI.
Does the Power Meter tell you when VTEC kicks in ? :D Just kidding, another great review Matt ! Please keep them coming !
actually there is a vtec meter
It actually really does! It even has a shift light that builds from yellow to red :D
Also, gotta say I love your video review of the GT86. I favorited that video and every time I re-watch it, I want to just run out and buy one an FR-S or BRZ!
vtec meter/shift light combo :o
Translation... Not fast. Why do people think this is a sports car/race car, it isn't never has been.
Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate anything with an engine, its a good looking car and I'm sure it's fun to drive, but so many people talk about them like they rule the road or are kings of racing, those people clearly haven't owned or driven a truly fast and high performance car.
Nice review like always, I was wondering if you're going to do a part 2 on how to drive stick shift?
What else would you like me to cover?
subaruwrxfan I always jerk when i shift from 1st to 2nd. I was wondering what would help to stop it from jerking all the time. I been driving manual for a month now.
subaruwrxfan Also, how to drive in traffic, starting up at a steep hill. Is it better to downshift or just use the brakes to stop?
Looks spectacular. But you don't realize how much torque steer sucks until you've driven a Subaru.
The only bad steer I get in my subaru is understeer, never had any torque steer
***** I see. That makes sense
This review led me to buying a 2014 black si coupe and I love it, thanks for the review and keep up the great work.
I like the 2013 So better then the 2014. It looks not vary good in the front. I would buy the sedan over the could for 2014. This is coming from a die hart Honda fan. It was a vary good video.
I hate spell check :-(
I like the interior more in the 2014, but the whole touchscreen system/keyless entry isn't doing it for me. I have a 2013 Si myself and I'm very happy I have it over this.
They have the lane watch camera on the 2013-2014 Accord as well.
cant wait for the new 2016 civic coupe
there not making any more si after the 2015. they have a new one there coming out with
+christian mbabazi civic type r u mean
yes
+christian mbabazi they are not getting rid of the si. It will be released later this year as a 2017 model.
+Chris Correa ok keeping the same name or something new
This was the first of your videos I ever watched back in Spring 2015. Matt Maran is the only one who can turn SubaruWRXfan into one syllable. Scrolling back to old vids just to hear it again hahaha. We love your vids! You’ve come a long way!
Haha thanks Ryan, really appreciate the support over the years!
really wish that there were an automatic transmission option, love the car look the only thing is I can't drive manual though I could learn but sometimes my family may borrow the car and they can't drive manual either
I think the SI is marketed towards a specific enthusiast group so they won't add an auto tranny... It never hurts to learn stick though!
You're not a real man.
Please don't add the automatic Honda! If you want auto, get the regular civic coupe. This car is meant to be driven with manual. Auto takes away the soul and fun of it. Auto = not real driving.
Looks like it's time for you and your family to learn how to drive stick!
Keep up the good work.
really hate the new front end :/ my gf has a 2012 and i think it's much better looking, though the changes are just subtle
Is it me or Dont Hondas look like they are made by Nintendo?
It's you.
Not even. I think they look really good.
hahahahahahaha omg you are right
Exile well they're both from Japan so
Yeah, it's just you, dipshit.
I love the new Si, Honda has a package you can get for them called the HFP or Honda Factory Performance package. It adds a nice sporty body kit and lowers the ride height by an inch and a half, it does the car very well. I think its damn near perfect with the HFP kit.
Used to like the sedans more but not anymore.
Ringland failure too
Its all about different tastes and preferences. As a daily/family car the civic si seems really cool.
A Mazdaspeed 3 it's definitely the way to go. It'll probably beat a manual WRX. Hell the Mazdaspeed 3 looks better to me than the Subaru.
This review is what ultimately sold me on buying this car. Thanks Subaruwrxfan!
girlfriend? so that's why he has to sell his brz
where in the video does he say that? i wanna hear him say it hahaha
Awesome Review!!! You may attention to all the things I care about. And I love how you mention the little things like storage space and the induction noise. This is way better than other reviews from companies. Keep up the great reviews!!!!!!!!
Thats a nice car. Honda copied VW's new Golf GTI alloys I see :P but they look good.
I agree with the alloy but it is just the wheel design that is different but still with alloy from VW
and shittily copied the front end
first review ive heard from you and i have to say im very impressed with your presentation. very very thorough and you get straight to the point. and i like how you explain things quickly but very simply so the information you cover is detailed but not too drawn out. keep up the excellent work!
torque steer ? dont you remember driving the focus st?! that's torque steer lol
Yeah the Focus ST definitely had it worse, it wasn't as bad in this car.
omg you replied on my comment=O
Going to get one tomorrow. Can't decide on colour. Black is my first pick. Then the Grey followed by white. Great review.
7:15 LMAO...this guy
man that new interior display is a fingerprint MAGNET! that would drive me nuts. Im still totally satisfied with my 13 si sedan. Good review though as always man. I like the new dual camera transitions while your driving, that was an awesome touch!
Do an Infiniti G35!!!!!!!!!
Thank you omg
im pretty sure, he's not going to do that car.
what makes you think that?
Why not RayzaBlayz ??????????
He reviewed a Civic for goshs sake, I think he can do a Luxury Sports Car
I love watching your reviews. Your points are right on, but also it's obvious you really enjoy driving a car in general.
Joy is a great thing :)
I own a Honda Civic coupe and I smile every time I drive it!
I hate the word "cubby" lol
hahah
as do I
I forget what to call them now....
+M&Z CarLife compartment now lol
I just went from a 2005 Civic Si hatchback aka the EP3 to a 2015 Civic Si coupe. Not sure if I’ve upgraded yet… lol.
So it's not good?
I wish the red seats were available in black/red leather instead :(
Rare Hunter there was actually an option to get it replaced for leather. Not sure why many people didn’t know/do it. Mine has leather!
Fantastic job with all your reviews. Been shopping around for cars and you have been the most helpful in me making my decision. Keep up the excellent job and pursue what you love!
3:54 "much better than anything else you're going to get in this price range" wrong. Volkswagen Jetta GLI
Yeah, that's what I want: an overpriced German rattle-box for an extra 6-8 grand.
No thanks.
Garrett Theoret I've never had any rattling problem with any Jettas that I've owned
Great review man! Super thorough and I loved the angles. You flowed well!
sometimes i just watch your videos to see if you breathe dude. run on sentence after run on sentence
...you just made me hate his reviews...thanks
Seriously, commas arent used in actual speech anymore. People need to realize that speech is not rushed, take your time, relax, and speak.
Can you tell me where the road is at 7:45? It looks very familiar, it actually reminds me of Gilkeson Road, if you know it. Great review overall, my dad lives in Pittsburgh and just today bought a 2014 Si sedan so he didn't have to drive his FRS in the winter.
STILL NO HIDS smh Honda
HID kit.
Dea Garic HID's our outdated now and they still don't have them. Even the Corolla has LEDs. It is close to a dealbreaker, since I'd have to fork out 800 to retrofit (if I don't want to do it myself)
True. It would have been nice to have Accord-like lights with the projection and LEDs. Sigh.
lmfao the Toyota Prius has H.I.D/Projector head lights smh
If your talking about hid kit then theres no reason to be dissatisfied. You can grab one for $60. Yea i would like to see a projector headlights on civic but a big no for led's, halo/angel eyes ricey shit. Who needs that
Hey subaruwrxfan I just want say thanks! I just bought this car last month and it's certainly a fantastic car! I'm glad I found this video and channel, it's very helpful! Also, I wanted to say that keep doing what you're doing because you make great in-depth videos! SUBSCRIBED! :D
vtec kicked in 😂
The 06-11 8th gen civic si is superior to the new one. Revs higher, better looking, responds better to mods, and it's cheaper. The only good thing about this one is that it's newer.
2 days old? What happened to break in period? In the manual I recall it saying to not race it or rev it high before x miles...
Exactly. Poor guy lol. But then again, its a honda. Not easy to kill. Unlike my new 2015 sti. Break in soooo crucial
How is this a sports car when a V6 Camry destroys it?
Edward Boster Contrary to what some might think, just having an S or SI at the end of a car's name does not make it a sports car.
Speed does not make a sports car, otherwise, Range Rovers are sports cars.
It's not a sport car. It's a sporty car..
Edward Boster in a straight line maybe but who cares about that
I like what you did with the corners, showing us a view of the road. Just wanted to show you some feedback
Nothing like the 1999-2000 SI
Thank god! That shit is garbage
I have the 14' in a sedan dyno blue pearl. Love it!! But my tires blew twice on my way home from work. The contipros are hard to find in V rating.
Rather have a GTI
not very good reliability. there's a reason why people buy Japanese cars
What's not good reliability? I've had my Gti since 08 it had 19miles on it, never had aunty reliability issues, what are your talking about?
AR Taken german cars can't last very long. better sell that old car quick before it breaks down. it's 6 years old already. yikes.
AR Taken
19k miles is nothing dude. Come back when it has over 200 k miles on it.
130k Miles right now, from 19k to 130 is a good haul
I wanted to see a review of the refreshed SIs for a while, thanks for the post!
fiesta st is a better buy for this price
Luke Luke not when you factor in reliability..
I thought this was actually a very good review, and it is consistent with what I would expect from this new model. Having owned '08 and '11 Si coupes, I really like what I'm hearing. Thanks for the review.
These cars are hideous! anyone that thinks these cars are better looking than a RSX has the worst taste ever. Honda went to shit!
The Accord is bae though
So are many companies like, hmmm... where do I start? Oh yeah, TOYOTA! But lexus is so OP
Lexus is basically Toyota
Ik toyota uses most of their money into lexus so they are sorta loosing money(same thing with honda)
Christopher Palmer Acura is the Luxury version of Honda...
Your reviews get better and better every time! Great video as always man! Keep up the good work!
8th gen is way better looking IMO. The red seats are tacky and so are the wheels. I can't believe I'm about to say this but it kind of looks like a fucking Tiburon.
Fucking right man... The 8th gen is still my favorite Civic.
Barry Lee 4th gen are prob. my all time favorite---The driving experience is so raw compared to the newer Gens... but they are much harder to find. My current DD is an RSX but I would pick up an 8th Gen coupe in a heartbeat.
It looks like a Saturn.
You guys are never happy -___-
I plan on getting a 2015 WRX next but Honda keeps trying to draw me back. The interior is amazing on these and it looks so much better.
honda ha gayyyyya!
Nope. Takes respect and responsibility to realize a Honda is a car. A Ricer is a Ricer. :) Lok up a 2000 Honda Integra Type-R
***** i can agree on that!
Did you watch the review at all?
Ryan Lohrenz Gotta admit, the front end of the coupe is pretty hideous though. I'm overjoyed with the fact that they didn't touch the Si sedan for 2014.
Yeah I agree. But I also agree it looks way better in person. Especially the back.
The last thing Honda needs is a partnership with BMW. BMW's completely lost its way. No thanks.
Nice review I own a Taffey 2012 Si coupe with a Takeda Cold air intake and Hondata reflash. I am jealous of the turn signal and backup cameras....
