For a five minute clip, the Adams couple had great chemistry. They were adorable. And Mr. Caine was a horse's ass.

This is good advice. Conflict is inevitable and I like these guidelines for dealing with it when it arises. It makes me feel a little bit less afraid of it.

That's usually the case with these vintage things. Honestly the average woman had it pretty good back then. We weren't just pushed around, woman weren't weak. They were strong and stood up for themselves just like Mrs. Adams did here.

Lisa Ylot There weren’t enough medical studies on the affects of smoking near children and pregnant women at that time to know it was harmful. Good try at the “oh but he did this”.

@@Saint-Johnn I wasted two hours of my life with a woman who had that attitude. Now she's pissed of at my husband and I because we are refusing to take sides and point out that no one is right, no one is wrong, attitudes towards each other needs to change. She wants us to keep what she says confidential but expects us to tell her what her husband said.

Excellent advice..but what do you do when one half of the couple cannot accept true responsibility for saying vicious, cruel, and hurtful things? Who ends up making his wife cry during every argument, and, though he apologizes when it gets to that point, he still denies any wrongdoing and turns it around on his wife, claiming she's too 'weekend's and, when she tries to explain what he said that hurt her, he denied saying it, accused her of putting words in his mouth, and goes on a half hour rant about how she can never shut up and has to have the last word. (If anyone does have a true and helpful comment, please offer it. It will be appreciated by this wife I speak of, I know her well and I've no more ideas or advice for her)

How do you avoid conflict in your place of employment? Also it must be nice to never have conflict with your friends, family or whatever community or church group you belong to.

Maybe if the husband's employers paid their workers a decent wage, there would be a lot more happy marriages. The employers were greedy even then.

Oluwapolola Lamidi Also divorce was very rare back then but only necessary in the case of abuse, neglect. or drunkenness.
Jackie Kennedy is a really good example because President JFK cheated on her all the time, even with Marilyn Monroe. Jackie's only rule though was "Don't embarrass me in public."
