"Calm down?" The part where she turned all docile and sweet and amazed at how smart Alex is was the height of her manipulation. That is classic, textbook, "Feminine Wiles 101," right there. I never use those tricks because 1) I have too much ego, and 2) I'm still in shock that they work, to this day. Men will happily give you everything they have if you let them think they're smart and impressive and have the answers to your problems. I'm not denigrating them - it's just human nature. Men want to help helpless women the way women want to help helpless animals. It's why women can manipulate men in that way and my cat gets everything he wants.
And then at 6:22 Alex asks Bob in the shower: "You're not running out of hot water, are you? I stayed under quite a long time." So I guess that means Bob's the pitcher & Alex is the catcher. (His name should have been Neal.)
At 75 I can remember 1952 when the appliances were affordable and first came out! It was less work for the housewife's but they were still exhausted at the end of the day. Back in the day before all these modern appliances came out, the cloth's were hung in the basement in the winter. In the summer they were hung out to dry! Those were the days when people seemed to bit more happier than today. Our country was not that deep in debt. Americans only used cash to purchase items, and did not use the charge cards, and go in debt!!! People bought things only when they saved up and had the money!! Great video that brings back memories of the 1950's. The young generation today will never know what it was like. Anthony Joseph Lucchese
Anthony Lucchese I wasn’t born until the 80’s but I’ve always found the 50’s interesting. I do believe that there’s “nothing new under the sun” and that people were unhappy too back then just as much as any other time, but no social media to constantly rant on, and people kept their problems to themselves. I do wish we had the prosperity back that we had in past decades. I know everything goes in cycles though... Great Depression, WWII, prosperous 50’s, crash in the 70’s, booming economy in the 80’s, etc.
Women cooked a delicious dinner from scratch. Every day! That kept guys straight in those days (an occasional BJ at the rustic roadside toilets or the bath house, or rarely, a ho at Rocking Chair Helen's) but no "gay" stuff. Those were good days for men..
Nice for you. What generation Italian descent are you? Do remember that at this time your parents weren't redlined out of more promising real estate, as were the sons and daughters of enslaved people? Your parents, or their parents, may have seen signs like "Italians need not apply", as did the Irish immigrants of the turn of the 20th century. Black people, slavery's children, just assumed that sign was up, unless they had some sign from "The Green Book", letting them know where they wouldn't be spat upon, refused, hated.

I’m 63 and ironing an apron is something I watched my grandmother do often. She wore a fresh one every day, made them herself. I still have a few of the ones she made. Nice memories. The black and beige tile in the bathroom was just like ours, also black and pink tiles in bathrooms were popular.

The year is 1952. I am guessing that Alexander Phipps is supposed to be about twenty and Judy is 17. Alexander and Judy will get married in 1953 and will have their first baby (a daughter named Francine) in 1954 When Alex is 22 and Judy is 19.
In 1969, Francine (the daughter) will be sixteen, Judy will be 37, and Alex will be 40. Francine will love the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, will wear mini skirts and will do drugs behind the school.
Actually after their dreamy date of "dancing", Alex decided to try the other white meat and10 weeks later Judy and Alex get married and have an 8 pound "preemie" on their 7 month wedding anniversary. Alex doesn't mind because he loves his brother in law. Really, really loves him.
Along the way they got a Crockpot, microwave, blender, Cuisinart and toaster oven.

Yes take notes. Here’s one: load the dishwasher correctly and without us having to tell you to do it. Just do it especially if we cooked the food. Also the counters and stovetop, front of microwave and front of dishwasher and fridge gets wiped down as well as the sink when cleaning the kitchen.

Synopsis: Judy is thirsty, manipulative, and knows what she wants.
Yeah but she starts to calm down in the end. She'll lose Alex if she doesn't. And Alex's don't grow on every street corner.

@Random Hughman Blushing
