  • DCS: F-16C Viper | Visual Initial and Reference Points
    COMING SOON
Hey everyone, Wags here from Eagle dynamics.
In this DCS: F-16C Viper video, we’ll discuss Visual Initial Points, or VIP, and Visual Reference Points, or VRP. As we discussed in a previous video about Offset Aimpoints, each Steerpoint can be assigned two offsets, or OA, points, a VIP, and a VRP. These are all valuable tools for setting up your attack on a known location or an offset location from it based on a bearing, range, and elevation.

As always, these videos provide a preview of an upcoming feature to assist you in understanding a new feature. Later, it is quite possible that the feature will change, and the feature functionality has changed. As much as I’d like to, I lack the time re-record these videos.

I can totally see this being very useful. Now let me watch it 20-30 more times to understand it. :)

This is a great and quite positive add functionality to the Viper, very appreciated, the module is getting love, thanks for that, this functions are quite suitable for interdiction missions I guess, and VIP looks quite useful for CAS. The FM tweeks also were really very appreciated, Viper slowly is taking his place. Best regards.

In this video, I often refer to the Steering Option, officially, this is referred to as the Sighting Option.

"You have to hit M-Sel" - thanks Wags, I look forward to wondering why the bloody thing won't work in the future. You've done your best.

Excellent, thanks for showcasing this feature. The more advanced planning and Setup features for strike missions are always fun.

Well presented Wags! It's great that what you need to enable in the DED won't be highlighted with a background until you hit your M-SEL, a nice little reminder for you to do that. Very cool. Thanks Wags 👍

This reminds me of doing "running fixes" in navigation lessons in 3rd Form Tech' Drawing classes. That being said, this is going to be mighty useful for off-set pop-up attacks where visual cues at high speed are challenging to tune into, especially in threat hazard environments.

Wags, great video as always. Low and fast doesn't leave a lot of room for error when trying to line up for an attack so this feature is going to be very useful for me (and others, obviously).

Great stuff! Are they any plans to add a way to get more precise bearings in the F10 Map? Also quite difficult to use the IP bombing in the M-2000 with only getting whole degrees on the map.

I took a lot from this video, new Viper features look great. But finding out the middle mouse button gives the ruler tool! You never stop learning 🤣.
