This video was delayed by about a week, and now with the incoming Nintendo Direct it probably won't be super "current" for too much longer. But it's a video we took the effort to make, so I figure it's still worth posting. And really, if some big new stuff gets announced the point will very much still stand!
Also for those wondering, Patrons have had access to this for six days, thus the old comments. There was a thumbnail thing and I didn't have time to finish it all up and post it.

I’m not excited for Monster Hunter. I’m not excited for this direct. They’re just gonna give dates on games that will coming out this first half of the day and more on games we already know about. I am not expecting anything exciting. I don’t want to get my hopes up.

@@Antasma1 Potentially. It depends on if it's a 2021 title, or if Nintendo wants to do a Zelda Direct this year.
The direct description states “games coming to the Switch in the first half of the year.”
Along with that, e3 is going to exist this year.
So unless BotW2 is set to come out before June, I think we’ll probably get an announcement at e3.
And if it does release this year, it’ll probably be the holiday title.

Like a few of the rumors say, BotW2 may be Q2, and if that’s the case, they may show a bit off in the Nintendo direct 🤷♂️
I'm also very optimistic! about the year! Knowing that Nintendo has a variety of great options to use as their "trump card" for this holiday season is incredibly exciting! I mean, we're currently in the same year that Pokemon Snap is getting an official sequel, so the year can't be THAT bad, right? =P

I was playing the monster hunter demo last month and I had a similar realization. Like “Wow... there are already a lot of releases I’m really excited for coming out in the next few months.”

honestly I hope we don't get a major pokemon title this year, the yearly release schedual is puling down the quality and I wish they'd just send longer finishing them
New entries are not, and have never been on a yearly release schedule. Half of the games are either a deluxe edition or a remake. They do not get the same development as a new game.

A Metroid Prime Trilogy (port) for Switch is all I'm asking for.
For me, everything else (Prime 4, a remake/remaster or a new 2d Metroid) would be just a nice bonus.

Great video! I'm also optimistic about it, especially what with the anniversaries aligning, not that I'm expecting too much out of each of those. My biggest worry is that by the same token, we'll see more of the temporary release situation we have with Mario and Fire Emblem.
Then again, SURELY they wouldn't do that with ALL of these anniversaries if they all get some kind of release...right?
EITHER WAY...yeah, I'm optimistic. But I think that even if all we get our what we know about, SOMETHING Zelda (if not BotW2), and SOMETHING Pokémon, I'll be satisfied with the year, as long as we're counting what they're publishing, not developing.
I'm so glad that we can have hope for Nintendo's 2021! I was worried this would be the year I would have to finally play through my backlog. Maybe next time.

@@Mamaluigi64 Sorry Nintendo can't give you 5000 heavy hitters every year. You realize big games take time, right? I don't know why people get so upset when Nintendo chooses to do a port, companies port games all the time and don't usually get shit for it (Dark Souls remastered, The Last of Us remastered, God of War 3 remastered, the Master Chief collection, the dozen Kingdom Hearts rereleases). If the games aren't for you that's unfortunate, but there's no need to be annoyed with the company that provides you with so many games that people love.

I admire your optimism that _Donkey Kong,_ or indeed any Nintendo series that isn't _Mario_ or _Zelda,_ is near-guaranteed to see a release honoring its anniversary. _DK_ is Nintendo's best-selling series of all time after the aforementioned two and of course _Pokémon_ (or was, anyway; I assume _New Horizons_ has catapulted _Animal Crossing_ to that spot now) but you... wouldn't really know it based on how Nintendo has historically treated the franchise - though with it getting its own section in Super Nintendo World and of course King K. Rool's resurrection two years ago, hopefully that's changing. Fingers crossed.
I'll tell you what else my fingers are crossed for, though: _Kirby._ Speculation abounded following the release of _Star Allies_ that after a decade HAL had finally wrapped up all they had to say with the gameplay style they'd established in _Return to Dream Land_ and were setting up to take the plunge and bring _Kirby_ into 3D, which is an idea so rife with possibilities as to be _beyond_ tantalizing. And with that game fully three years behind us now, the timing lines up just about perfectly....

I still have a good feeling about something Donkey Kong this year. Donkey Kong is Nintendo's first child, without him there probably wouldn't be a Nintendo. It's all but confirmed he's getting a section at Super Nintendo World; there's currently a gate that's closed off with palm trees and jungle-looking area behind it peeking over the wall. Other than that, I have hopes a new game will come out. Whether it's Donkey Kong Country Returns 3, DK64 remastered, or maybe even a new DK game entirely (I think a 3D beat-em-up or hack-n-slash would work well with the style of DK; maybe something more open world like BoTW or Mario Odyssey, but I might be too ambitious; but who knows, maybe Nintendo has something big planned for their oldest child).

Since they remastered pokemon red and blue. How about remastering time, darkness, and sky in one. Since sky were the updated one with more content in it. I know about the diamond and pearl remake. But still. They both will come eventually.
