  • Virtual Reality games are more popular than ever. Here is why they are not the future of the industry. This video also discusses some of the best VR games I have played.
Games Featured Include: Asgard's Wrath 2, Walkabout Mini Golf, Eleven Table Tennis, Ragnarock, Floor Plan 2, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

I can agree with your points but i feel like you're catastrophizing quite a bit throughout. I don't think anyone really expects vr to replace consoles, ever. Except *maybe* in the sense that we might one day just play using screens in vr to play console games. That's a while in the future though. VR is more of a genre than it is a replacement for gaming as a whole. As you mentioned in your video, VR has its limitations. You have to wear a headset, you have to physically move around, you have to be able-bodied, you have to be in first person, and so on. All these limitations mean that you can't really go buck wild like games on pc or console. I cannot for the life of me imagine trying to play a game like Ori and The Blind Forest in vr. The "way of consoles" isn't going to go south, in the same way your iphone didn't replace the xbox. At worst we have xbox going out of business for reasons unrelated to vr and we all switch to playstation or pc. And immersive action games like pavlov or blade and sorcery aren't going to replace cute puzzle games, in the same way shooters didn't replace fighting games. They're too different to be "replaced" by each other. People just like having options, but it just happens that more people like action than puzzles yk?

Very fair! I agree, I probably did exaggerate a bit for the sake of the argument, I love Ori btw! I need to play Will of the Wisps soon. Thanks for watching!

Great video/essay! I had the same feelings towards VR but am slowly coming around much in the same way as you've laid out. As just another means of gaming. Thanks!

i own a quest 2 and its not replacement for console vr is just making you feel youre really there like gorilla tag recroom job simulator games like these are based on fun and beat saber or another rythim games like theyre made for another way gaming some games like gorilla tag job simulator are made for vr and if you play on another device its not the same feeling job simulator is showing you how the jobs are and you just play it and gorilla tag u are an legless gorilla moving with arms trying not to get tagged these games are losing there experience on other devices if gorilla tag was on pc its just roblox then gorilla tags and other vr games are made for vr like theres an doom 3 port of vr and its pretty cool but hard in other way that game was made for non vr devices

You've never read a william gibson book have you? VR absolutely is the future. It just has to get good enough.

VR is good for giving freelook, depth perception, and immersing players beyond a monitor. VR games are gay but using VR to augment non-VR games is great.
