@@TealWolf26 Not really, that "target demographic" already owns an Xbox or Playstation, which can play the games better. The mobile option is a sham too, if you play stadia on mobile data you'll go bankrupt when your cell bill comes in, and public wifi would probably stream in 240p at best if not just kick you off for bandwidth hogging.
I don't think this is fair. This clearly means "free-range humans" as in "average people." Expanding the accessibilty of high-end gaming to where all you really need is a television and an Internet connection. That isn't what it actually *_does,_* but let's not cause undue and unnecessary backlash that obfuscates the actual issue. The Internet likes to nitpick things they don't like or disagree with to where every minor thing gets blown out of proportion and every allegation is taken as fact regardless of evidence, and that isn't productive. Counter-productive, even, because it gives the subject an excuse to *_also_* ignore the actual issue.
I don't know... it kind of reminds me of those old console commercials from the 90s, specifically the Turbografx ones with Johnny Turbo that followed a very similar premise of a "cool" guy initiating an uninformed potential customer into the fold. If it really was a homage to these to give the commercial a nostalgic "retro" feel, I can kind of see what there were going for, it's just too bad we live in the age of subversion where such commercials no longer work.

M00rtin I sure as hell wouldn’t have expected them to be selling 1-2 year old games for full price. If you have to pay they should be heavily discounted because you’re paying for access to games within a service so if you stop paying for the service there goes hundreds of dollars worth of games you could have owned. In the long run, it would be cheaper to buy a proper console or PC.

Space to put your console(s) is actually a problem for a lot of people. That's why we have seen slimmer version of the previous generation of consoles. Also the asian market has a different look on these things.

So here is the thing, it looks like the service is appealing to people that cannot afford a pc or a console, but usually that same kind of people does not have access to high speed internet+are located far away from google servers(myself for example) Like it targets only a select group of ppl that want to try out new tech and that's it. Is the kind of service that is for no one.
I think it's the opposite, it seems to appeal for people who are middle to upper class people who want to play games wherever, whenever. People who don't want to be held back by console limitations who also have good internet. But which ever way you look at it you're right, this seems to be targeting a select group of people. But the problem with stadia is even if it works correctly you can get a better, less expensive experience by just buying console, or PC.
@Gus Gang yeah I can't see stadia having any success at all, especially with their competition being Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo who essentially have a monopoly in the console wars. It's gonna take something revolutionary for anything to test the big dogs, and stadia definitely isn't it.

Lets look at the target users: - no one complains about the consoles taking up space. - no one complains about consoles having a smell. - no one complains about owning their games physically. Actually, many of us WANT to have our physical game collection. - pro-gamers play their games in their setup, and play for a long time, they won't be playing everywhere else. - casual gamers expect games to be free or almost free. They play for a little while on the go and then forget about it. It sound like a product no one asked for. A solution for a problem that doesn't exist.
I generally agree, aside from the last bit...even casual gamers expect to pay for their games. If you expect games for free, you are either using GooglePlay "mobile" (as in phone) games, or are a complete moron with NO idea how commerce works. NOTHING casual about that; TLDR: expecting free games is the mark of a bona fide idiot~
@@blemishednicely8402 there are decent free_to_play games on steam and the play store(I don't play on my phone because mine is too shitty to do that but there are decent f2p games there) so you can play f2p games and have a lot of fun, I enjoy doing that like making a chalenge to find a worthwhile new f2p game on steam and a lot of times I'm not disappionted, so stadia sucks even more!

@@mattias1099 I pay 10 bucks a month for GamePass PC. I can play the games offline for up to 30 days, no worries of latency spikes, connection drop outs etc. Data usage isn't a problem since I'm lucky enough to have unlimited but even if I didn't once a game is downloaded that's it outside of updates. Have had great games available every month including some I probably wouldn't have played otherwise. Outer Worlds, Gears 5, Blair Witch, Age of Empires I & II Definitive Edition, Bloodstained etc, Halo MCC for PC will be on it as those games release. It's more than paid for it's self each month.
Yeah, I thought the same. Visual effects were like cool and all but the script for the trailer was cringe worthy. Although, I liked the dog, it was the true MVP of the trailer. Funny thing is that I wasn't interested in getting Stadia before (not that I could really afford it) and the trailer actually made me even less interested in getting it.

Yep, streaming at its very core is a TERRIBLE idea. And I'm glad Google is doing it and failing, because that will discourage others from trying it. Streaming is a major threat to gaming and needs to be fought.

@@hellodumplings8564 Yep. Gaming isn't like movies, where most people watch a movie or series once and that's it. Games are something you play over and over. Games should ALWAYS run locally. Having to be dependent on not just internet but some service staying in business to have access to your games would mean the end of gaming.
@@StormsparkPegasus Except it's a great idea as a feature at its core and it was executed terribly by Google. Being able to continue play sessions on the fly without lengthy downloads, not NEEDING to upgrade your PC every few years to accommodate for increased requirements due to lack of optimization on developers' part are great features. However, a streaming platform would need to, at all times, offer you the option to also download your games and play them offline.
Dont need, dont want, i rather own my games instead of paying a licence fee to access a game as long as google deciedes to keep them on their servers..Also i rather play offline then suffer from input lag, stutters and freezes while playing... I really want this to bomb i dont want a future where i have to stream games instead of owning them.

I really like having physical copies of games. Like with the Wii I own plenty of games in physical format. The Hard Drive on my Wii is not big enough for all of the games, so if I had bought them digitally I would have lost them when the shop shut down. With streaming, the same thing will inevitably happen.

I'll stick with consoles and pc, where i can play MY games that i physically and permanently OWN. I have no problem with the little space being taken by said pc/console. I don't have lag probblems. I'm not 100% dependant on Internet connection. So, no thanks Google.

The original stadia trailer said "play all your favorite games on stadia" whos favorite games? My favorite games? I don't see Skyrim or Witcher 3 or Breath of the Wild on there... it doesn't have any of my favorite games... I hate being told by companies what I'm supposed to like instead of them listening to what I like. This is very unappealing to me.
Not to mention you have to buy all your favorite games... again for full price, despite you already owning them at least one time. Why would I pay THAT much money to access to play agame I don't even get to own? What if, for some unspecific reason, google decided I "violated" their ToS and suddenly "poof" game, money and access all gone. I rather pop a disc in my console/pc or select a game. I actually own from my harddrive.

In the USA you can not be hit with false advertising if what you are advertising can be proven even 1% true. Like lets take the 4k 60fps claim, They can advertise that because you can get it with the Chrome Cast Ultra. So yes even though not everyone can it it is still possible it doesn't matter that it is only with that certain hardware. US Law has so many loop holes in it that you can get away with anything.
I saw a commercial on TH-cam that said Stadia takes up less space than a console. Then I looked at my switch and ps4 and thought, "how much space do they think they take up? How does this push your platform?" and all the other commercials I saw didn't do anything to even really explain what it did.
The only justification for that I can think of is that you won’t need to hold onto last gen consoles when backwards compatibility isn’t supported. And even that is a piss poor excuse since having a console ensures that the games will be available, especially when you have a physical copy, and Stadia doesn’t have a library large enough as of now to justify using it just so that I can clear my PS3 off my TV stand if they get something like Mercenaries 2 or MGS onto the service. Never mind the lack of exclusives.

@Han Lockhart well with game pass you get over 200 games to play just for $10 a month and it has really good games. Its when it charges you for access to then spend more money that subscriptions are predatory
@Han Lockhart its only bad when companies get greedy. Subscriptions like game pass that give you access to freely download any games out of their game catalog that keeps growing and growing can be a great thing for the consumer.
You don't need a subscription to it for it to work though; this makes it a lot better than that Netflix analogy implies but it's still fucking terrible for many other reasons.

Or in a cooled room, while some people are bound to live in warmer places, or in free areas, while some people have it cramped into some cabinet, there's tons of factors that could play into this that Google probably didn't account for during testing that the mere assumption that it not happening to them means that it won't happen at all is a joke. If people report a problem on mass then assume that testing failed and do somehing about the problem Google.
Seeing what the consensus is right now... we will never know, really... I saw what money does, people criticize Epic but I don't mind free games. We're so different. Developers will help Stadia if they want... i mean, that is the reality, it's like Sony games being ported to PC: things happens when these people have a reason to make it happen. If I can stream Red Dead Redemption, I can stream anything and Google can write that check. I don't think Stadia is a bad idea per se, just not well thought enough. There's something really naive about how they do it. Many Nintendo ideas have already been tried by Sega back in the day, the technology wasn't ready but they tried even if they failed. Nintendo used that template, refined it and people love it. Maybe it is what we're seing here: a necessary fail.

I'm actually not sure what bothers me the most - how arrogant they act, or how incompetent their product development and marketing behind Stadia is. I mean it's one thing trying to sell some shitty product to the people by creating false demand through vanity - but they suck even at doing so. It's honestly mind-boggling how they can fuck this project up on basically every single level.
Why is everyone acting like this is new technology? Like OnLive didn't do this 10 years ago? Saying "That's certainly new" to the game instantly starting is certainly not.
@@blisterfingers8169 i personally used LiquidSky which used nvidia vGPUs to allow you to access a full windows 10 desktop experience with your Steam games. it was pretty cool until one day they just announced they're shutting down for "Something Big..." with purchases only within last month refunded and the virtual currency (SkyCredits, where 1 credit = 1 minute of gameplay) announced to not be transferable to their "Big" update that still has yet to release. it was essentially a scam and millions of people, some who have even invested thousands of dollars into SkyCredits using it as an alternative to a gaming PC just lost everything
Its new technology that CAN work in todays modern and its modern tech so in simple terms updated and new means of improving technology made, Unlike the past when it wasnt ready for this kind of gaming and its still a developing tech 4k and 60 fps is not easy to achieve cause its not a console with ready set hardware its a server processing and taking in input to put out a perfect instantly reaction to your actions and that image output has to be perfect too but its not being done right with what Google's doing but u don't like cloud gaming at all I like to own my games physicaly in my hands on a shelf or cupboard ect

@@antonparis7939 I live in the mid-west US and living in the country where only one internet provider is available at, which they also throttle the speed (not fast to begin with, which the best download speed I have ever had was about 3mb/s with an average of about 1.25mb/s), but cant do anything about it because of the bullshit removal of net neutrality.

I don't think this is fair. This clearly means "free-range humans" as in "average people." Expanding the accessibilty of high-end gaming to where all you really need is a television and an Internet connection.
That isn't what it actually *_does,_* but let's not cause undue and unnecessary backlash that obfuscates the actual issue. The Internet likes to nitpick things they don't like or disagree with to where every minor thing gets blown out of proportion and every allegation is taken as fact regardless of evidence, and that isn't productive. Counter-productive, even, because it gives the subject an excuse to *_also_* ignore the actual issue.

I don't know... it kind of reminds me of those old console commercials from the 90s, specifically the Turbografx ones with Johnny Turbo that followed a very similar premise of a "cool" guy initiating an uninformed potential customer into the fold. If it really was a homage to these to give the commercial a nostalgic "retro" feel, I can kind of see what there were going for, it's just too bad we live in the age of subversion where such commercials no longer work.

So here is the thing, it looks like the service is appealing to people that cannot afford a pc or a console, but usually that same kind of people does not have access to high speed internet+are located far away from google servers(myself for example)
Like it targets only a select group of ppl that want to try out new tech and that's it.

I think it's the opposite, it seems to appeal for people who are middle to upper class people who want to play games wherever, whenever. People who don't want to be held back by console limitations who also have good internet.
But which ever way you look at it you're right, this seems to be targeting a select group of people. But the problem with stadia is even if it works correctly you can get a better, less expensive experience by just buying console, or PC.

- no one complains about the consoles taking up space.
- no one complains about consoles having a smell.
- no one complains about owning their games physically. Actually, many of us WANT to have our physical game collection.
- pro-gamers play their games in their setup, and play for a long time, they won't be playing everywhere else.
- casual gamers expect games to be free or almost free. They play for a little while on the go and then forget about it.
It sound like a product no one asked for. A solution for a problem that doesn't exist.
I generally agree, aside from the last bit...even casual gamers expect to pay for their games.
If you expect games for free, you are either using GooglePlay "mobile" (as in phone) games, or are a complete moron with NO idea how commerce works.

I can play the games offline for up to 30 days, no worries of latency spikes, connection drop outs etc. Data usage isn't a problem since I'm lucky enough to have unlimited but even if I didn't once a game is downloaded that's it outside of updates. Have had great games available every month including some I probably wouldn't have played otherwise. Outer Worlds, Gears 5, Blair Witch, Age of Empires I & II Definitive Edition, Bloodstained etc, Halo MCC for PC will be on it as those games release. It's more than paid for it's self each month.

Yep, streaming at its very core is a TERRIBLE idea. And I'm glad Google is doing it and failing, because that will discourage others from trying it. Streaming is a major threat to gaming and needs to be fought.

Having to be dependent on not just internet but some service staying in business to have access to your games would mean the end of gaming.

Being able to continue play sessions on the fly without lengthy downloads, not NEEDING to upgrade your PC every few years to accommodate for increased requirements due to lack of optimization on developers' part are great features. However, a streaming platform would need to, at all times, offer you the option to also download your games and play them offline.

I really like having physical copies of games. Like with the Wii I own plenty of games in physical format. The Hard Drive on my Wii is not big enough for all of the games, so if I had bought them digitally I would have lost them when the shop shut down. With streaming, the same thing will inevitably happen.

In the USA you can not be hit with false advertising if what you are advertising can be proven even 1% true. Like lets take the 4k 60fps claim, They can advertise that because you can get it with the Chrome Cast Ultra. So yes even though not everyone can it it is still possible it doesn't matter that it is only with that certain hardware. US Law has so many loop holes in it that you can get away with anything.

I saw a commercial on TH-cam that said Stadia takes up less space than a console. Then I looked at my switch and ps4 and thought, "how much space do they think they take up? How does this push your platform?" and all the other commercials I saw didn't do anything to even really explain what it did.

The only justification for that I can think of is that you won’t need to hold onto last gen consoles when backwards compatibility isn’t supported. And even that is a piss poor excuse since having a console ensures that the games will be available, especially when you have a physical copy, and Stadia doesn’t have a library large enough as of now to justify using it just so that I can clear my PS3 off my TV stand if they get something like Mercenaries 2 or MGS onto the service. Never mind the lack of exclusives.

Or in a cooled room, while some people are bound to live in warmer places, or in free areas, while some people have it cramped into some cabinet, there's tons of factors that could play into this that Google probably didn't account for during testing that the mere assumption that it not happening to them means that it won't happen at all is a joke. If people report a problem on mass then assume that testing failed and do somehing about the problem Google.

Seeing what the consensus is right now... we will never know, really... I saw what money does, people criticize Epic but I don't mind free games. We're so different. Developers will help Stadia if they want... i mean, that is the reality, it's like Sony games being ported to PC: things happens when these people have a reason to make it happen.
If I can stream Red Dead Redemption, I can stream anything and Google can write that check. I don't think Stadia is a bad idea per se, just not well thought enough. There's something really naive about how they do it. Many Nintendo ideas have already been tried by Sega back in the day, the technology wasn't ready but they tried even if they failed. Nintendo used that template, refined it and people love it. Maybe it is what we're seing here: a necessary fail.

Its new technology that CAN work in todays modern and its modern tech so in simple terms updated and new means of improving technology made, Unlike the past when it wasnt ready for this kind of gaming and its still a developing tech 4k and 60 fps is not easy to achieve cause its not a console with ready set hardware its a server processing and taking in input to put out a perfect instantly reaction to your actions and that image output has to be perfect too but its not being done right with what Google's doing but u don't like cloud gaming at all I like to own my games physicaly in my hands on a shelf or cupboard ect
