      I'm not surprised. The first impression they gave us when introducing it was the speaker knew little to nothing about games, but liked FIFA. They're inspired by the bottomless money pit that is EA's cash cow. They're not trying to make video games, they're trying to stick their crusty fingers into the huge money pie that only higher-ups in the corporate side of the games industry can get through scummy means such as monetization.

      I sacrifice some speed and go with 50mb DSL ATT because they have no data cap if you have an ATT cell. Being a big gamer, I would hit the $50 penalty every month on Xfinity. In fact, I had to quit xfinity within 3 months of them instituting data caps. Seriously, I housesat at my mom’s for 2 weeks in June and maxed the data overage on her xfinity. Funny thing is that I used to say there is no way they can institute data caps while pushing everything digital. Americans are getting screwed. I guess that is part of being American: getting screwed by corporate overlords…

    • @only4posting
      @only4posting 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Talking about ads... all those who predict the stadia will fail, they are forgetting:
      -Unlike sony, google have hundreds of billions they can just throw away
      - because they reach over 2 billion youtube/etc users, who are used to STREAMING SERVICES, and google...it is google, they are going to flood all the TH-cam videos and google searches, with trillions of ads, for the stadia.
      Today, we type 'video gaming system', we might get sony/playstation, xbox... nintendo... in the first 3 results. When google starts promoting the stadia , the same google search will give
      #1 - try the google stadia gaming system today
      #2 sony ps4
      #3 xbox
      X4 nintendo switch...
      And youtube...regular youtube users will have to watch 10, 20, 30 google stadia ads, each day.
      And like the song everybody hates, so terrible... but then radios start paying it over and over. . And people end up liking it... the same might happen, with the stadia
      And let's not forget. .. to google, the stadia is not a race.
      While eg, Sony, absolutely needs to make x billions with the Playstation, to break even, or reach their monthly goals,
      Google, on the other side, have all the time. They only have 2% of the market the 1st year ? No problem. Only 7% the second year ? No problem... slowly, they will make it.
      And all those concerns regarding the Internet speeds and bandwith... SAY HI TO THE 5G ! It's not a surprise why in the US they are trying to implement the 5G everywhere, asap. Because the day people will have 5g, and over 50-100mb of speed, the problem is solved.

    • @tubester358
      @tubester358 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@only4posting also, 5G is a joke right now, nowhere near ready especially in the US. Half the reason they banned Huawei and beefed with China is coz they're leagues ahead in the 5G race. Now US have started tricking people by putting 5G E (Evolution) symbols on phones that don't support 5G yet through the same loophole that let ppl print 4g labels before speeds were fast enough lol.
      The standards for internet infrastructure worldwide is still too low atm, it's sad honestly. Gamers suffer the most.

This means that a lot of people who might be willing to try it/use it might not be able to get the quality they are expecting. I agree the idea is not bad, but so far (more than a dozen of companies in this business offering their solutions) no one nailed it.
      Even if you do not have a rig, even if someone is planning to buy na next console it still offers more for similar amount of money.
      Here are my rough calculations. Console - 500$, subscription for online 60$/year time 7 year of console life time Total: 920$. If you want to play on a TV stadia requires Founders Edition 130$, and let's assume that new consoles will have 4K so to get similar experience with stadia you need to pay premium 10$ a month times 12 monts a year times 7 years (to be equal to console life span) Total: 970$. File if someone skips the founders edition it is 840$.
      the games are the same price so I took it out from the equation. But for consoles you have subscriptions for digital games: EA Access (5$/month), XGP (10$/month) where you have a lot of games to choose from which decreases money spend on games.
      With Stadia you should theoretically play on any device but we know this will not be the case at launch.
      So as a person who used OnLive, PS Now and is using GeForce Now (each had/have their own problems) I will say Stadia is not for me, Game streaming is far from experience you get from hardware and to me for years to come hardware >>>> streaming.
      But this is just my opinion.

      @@venture7486 London. Cosmopolitan central of the planet. Been there once, nice place. The thing is though Stadia's gambit is;
      "Don't build a PC, get our simpler, easier, cheaper, direct hardware solution, and save money by not having to upgrade! Leave that to us."
      It's ironic when you realize the places that could benefit from that have terrible infrastructure. And therefore terrible internet provision and speed.
      For people in developed countries, building a PC doesn't actually take a lot of money. Take me for example; in the US a 600$ budget would be all you need to cover a build I'm making. Me though? I'm having to spend at least the equivalent of 2000 dollars for it. Taxes and all. And I still prefer making the damn thing to relying on support from a third party. But that's just me.
      You can't take London's example, because London is as I mentioned before, a world capital. 70% of the planet is not even close to that. So I have to wonder; will this flop like Google glass? The dream of any capitalist is making something simple, cheap, that everybody needs/wants. Stadia does not fit the bill for that. It's not necessarily cheap (when you take into account the monthly payments for access), it's not easy to setup (requires infrastructure) and I don't know many people, even here where I am, buying into the idea.
      Ownership IS important. It is a driving factor in our species, we're not ants damn it. And just for that, I'm not willing to give these companies an inch. Microsoft has already insinuated that Windows could become a subscription service. The day, the second, they do that, I'm going for Linux, no matter how much of a pain it is to run that. Again - my personal opinion. But you seem to disagree.

    So I switched to AT&T U-verse from comcast after them offering faster internet and cheaper cable. About 2 years later I noticed my net got a little slower, t.v menu started dragging, T.V signal screws up quite often, and they raised their prices. Now all of a sudden they have this new upgrade with faster net and more channels. Yeah, isp's care...

    I wouldn't hold my breath duide, I've been living in Hollywood Ca for 10 years, I have helped install Fiber internet into a production company in Hollywood, but neither Verizon or AT&T(who installed the fiber to the company) offers residential fiber.
    And the bandwidth is horrendous, every day at 12 my internet cuts out for 15-20 minutes sometimes, like clockwork.
