Google Stadia died in 2019. Which is REALLY impressive, probably the most impressive thing about it, considering it came out in November of 2019.

If you're informed on what Net Neutrality was about (and it's no longer a thing since people forgot about it), you should know that this "cloud streaming" games were and will be a fucking shit show. I have an old Xbox 360 and my son loves that thing. It's fun to play on, you dont need internet for the games I have.. And some of my favorite games still look good today.

Second, other people do collect and own physical mediums as insurance in case something happens and they need to reluctantly sell it because it has value to someone else. That's what these digital pioneers don't seem to get. It still has value to people and you can resell it. It can go back into circulation as a product with value. It's tangible property. You kinda can't do that when Google has all the data on their servers.

Usually services like this (e.g. cable TV) start out the best quality they can deliver, then slowly downgrade as they find what the market will put up with.

Omnius Prime It’s actually a very smart strategy. They’re targeting different demographics because they know they probably wouldn’t make a ton competing toe to toe with Sony and Microsoft. They take risks by going for something new (and sometimes gimmicky), and a lot of the time it pays off. Sometimes it doesn’t pay off, but that’s the trade off for going with something more experimental.
Switch sales are doing great for a reason. It doesn’t have to have the best graphics and processing power as long as it feels a need or desire that the audience has. People wanted a deluxe mobile console that could handle big games and could also be played on the TV. Its at a lower price point than the PS4 and XBONE, which made it more accessible and kept it from having to compete directly. It’s got most of its own games and franchises already, so it doesn’t really need to beat out Sony/MS’s hardware.
The most surprising thing is the fact anyone is surprised Stadia went badly.
I know there's that one schmuck that genuinely expected any good to come of Stadia, but at this point, I'm sure this isn't surprise so much as it is just continually reporting on just how stupid Google is.

@@sonicexereaper6814 The storage is a paticularly strong point. I often have 1 hour or 1.5 hour train rides. Now the train has internet connection (a lengthy tunnel not withstanding), free even, but it is only for simple browsing and small updates. You would never be able to stream over it. Google Stadia could never keep me playing on the go in those conidtions, but my laptop and switch do so perfectly due to what you outlined.

I will never buy into cloud gaming. I like to future proof my games.
There's a service called Shadow, where you just get a remote gaming pc and can install any of your own games on it. It works way better depending on your connection. But yeah nothing beats just having your own gaming pc at home if you can afford it.

Gamers have high expectations. They should know this. Stadia where it stands launched as a disappointment for many and amazing for a small amount of people. Even then, those people that have it working well are getting bad deals for games (that they don't even own after they bought it). Maybe it'll get better when 5G internet becomes a standard but eh, I doubt it with a launch like this.

You're running the games off of their servers. Even the best servers have issues here and there. This isn't suprising at all and it's worthless to pay for a game streaming service. Period. You'll always end up paying more than if you just buy a pc and get to own all of your games for good, and you'll have more issues accessing those games as opposed to just owning them.

Because their quality control worse than what you get on Steam, and because they’re part of the reason that micro-transactions exist as they do today. Lot of mobile gaming us free-to-play crap designed to eventually force players to pay for progression, or middling to bad ports of bigger games.

The trouble is that mobile games are mostly designed around minimal effort for maximum profit. So you’ve got a lot of low effort titles and gacha games that are purely there to get to you spend money, because they know that most games don’t sell on there for more than a tenner. It better for the makers to be asking for small amount often.
Even with the TH-cam compression I can notice a significant difference in quality. That should tell Google something.
And the bitrate compression on streaming will always been even worse. So yea, it's not even just about the raw resolution numbers. It'll never look as visually clear (even at the same resolution) as running the game locally yourself, with the raw uncompressed feed going straight from your GPU's frame buffer directly to your monitor. This is why game streaming will never fully replace a local hardware box for people who want the absolute best visual quality/clarity.
Everytime you tell me something about stadia, I get a little happier knowing this will be another Google glass

1:10 if you compare the life span of the ps4 from 2014-2019 you would've paid $600 for stadia over 5 years. But the ps4 will keep going in 2020 so it would be an extra $120 for stadia, plus you would also have to add up the diference every time you pay more for a game that is on another platform.
$720 without including games and the price staying the same for 6 years.
You may also have to increase your internet speed so thag is another expense.
Anyone who threw money at pre-orders for this need to give their heads a wobble. Absolutely zero sympathy.

I'm still bamboozled on why they are chasing 4K when they are still struggling with 30fps, imagine that refresh rate. 1080+144hz or 1440+60 are territories that they completely ignoring

They also need to price it WAY lower. I buy physical media, i can play it whenever, forever. Buy Stadia, you only have access while your subscription is active. Asking for the same prices is insulting.

The Stadia App still has only 100k+ downloads in the app store. So it's safe to say, the general public doesn't even care about it or hasn't even bought it.

the thing about the lack of sharpness in images is due to bitrate compression, it might be real 4k but compressed horribly.

I visited the Stadia Reddit shortly after launch, and it was quite a bizarre experience. Nearly every post was full of praise and the titles sounding like copy-paste from a sheet given from corporate. There's just no way that would naturally be the case for anything during a controversial rollout.
I wonder what they did during production, did they not test the performance first ?

Except for the non native 4k. I got ps4 slim for exclusives and the One X which is much more powerful for 4k gaming.
@@packlesswolf1 I've never really cared about graphics. I'd rather have more to play then graphics that are slightly better. Ultimately it's about what you like and what makes you happy. I'm just saying my last xbox one s became a paperweight and I'm still playing my ps4 after 5 years. I also have a Switch which also has a large collection of exclusives.

The Stadia was made for me. I didnt own a console. Spent 100 bucks and got a Chromecast in the deal which is pretty awesome just messing with the Chromecast. After making a profile all I did was boot up the controller and BAM I started playing Destiny 2 and Tomb Raider right off the bat with absolutely no lag and looks to be 4k resolution. Switched to my Chromebook, not as good of resolution but still no lag. I have basic Xfinity internet. So I'm pretty certain you haven't even tried the stadia out for yourself and just made a video repeating what other people who got the Stadia right at launch 3 weeks are saying. There was some lag at launch but after about the first week and a half it was corrected. I'm honestly amazed by some of these bad reviews. This is definitely the future of gaming.
Also, Stadia will be free in January. The 10 dollar monthly fee is for the free game library which is very tiny but so was Netflix's library when they first started. They have said they will add new games.
