I was playing a few weeks ago and a person found a varg, I was playing as wormwood. needless to say I was annoyed when they decided to die very close to our base
This just reminded me of a bad incident on a public server where some new players brought 2 vargs at base when i was low on health and healing items after i just solo'ed the Dfly. Thankfully i was playing as Wigfrid and we based near the swamp so me and some other guys managed to kill them.
*red hounds usually come on the first summer* me and my sister: chilling at base on day 18 4 normal hounds and 1 red hound: *let us introduce ourselves* we were really unlucky :/

log suit, football helmet -- if it's still daytime -- and run around the beefalo until the hounds attack them (this works exceptionally well when they're in heat). that's if camp is near a beefalo herd. i always camp near a beefalo herd.
Reminds me of my adventure with my friend to moon island. We were heading to moon island when a lot of hounds came. It was after summer so there were red hounds. I was a upgraded WX78 and had armor while my friend was Warly. I had to tank all the damage headed my way while I ran around the boat while my friend tried to paddle our way to moon island. Then when we were jumping distance away from moon island I jumped onto moon island and all of the hounds went jumping after me. I preceded to try to kite them and killed them. I successfully killed them while my friend row his way around to main moon island and I caught up to him and prepped ourselves to the danger that awaits us. It was a fun adventurous adventure that I love about this game and all of the other cool situations we got ourselves in.
today i found out that red hounds explode into fire when they die. i found this out after fighting one on my grass field in my base. loosing 50 grass plants is really not something you should ever do
When i first played Don't Starve (early beta...science points anyone?) I had just made it to day 6, searching for beefalo I had never seen before, and genuinely thought hound warning growls were the sound of beefalo. Randomly chasing the direction of barks thru my headphones until murder found me.
An important piece of information you forgot to mention is that hound waves will be skipped if all players are out at sea, far enough from land when the warning sounds would have begun, although once the warning sounds begin, it is too late to prevent the attack this way, basically this means hounds won't spawn near you if you are in the ocean because that wouldn't make much sense
This is a contested thought to begin with as how often are people all going to be sailing at the same time at the same distance away to allow for this to happen? I'll tell you, not often.
I think I’m either the luckiest or unluckiest person in the wold, this was both day 5 and my first ever hunt and who do I find a Varg, the freaking mega hound murdered me
Day 2 of summer, Oasis base setup, Dragon pies ready for Antlion, Long night... fire hounds appear, either my base burns to a crisp or i run, decides to run, slowed by sandstorm, stunlocked.... death

My usual cause of death is the aftermath of a hound attack, usually in winter. They chase me around all day so I forgot to collect things needed to make a fire, so when I finally get rid of them, night falls and I can't make a fire. Then Charlie's the problem.
One thing not in the guide that may have been worth mentioning that if on the lunar island during a hound attack with any decent sized wave wiping them off on the saladmanders can be good as they do have 900 health and can take a beating, this may not be immediately apparent to some players due to the adorable nature of the little fellas. Additionally, having a saladmander ripe via bath bombed geyser or tier 3 campfire before the wave arrives can be a nice bonus as it gains an aoe fire attack, though it will mean mobs on fire so keep that in mind. There are also the "an-enemies" which can be shoveled and arranged like tooth traps but I find them a bit cumbersome as you cannot walk directly over them like tooth traps as they will trigger on the player and also you cannot manually reset them to ready them for a second go at your pleasure but must simply wait for the fully automated living utility instead.
Remember folks, just cause something was directly said over certain shots doesn't make it the be-all end-all. The showcases on the Lunar Biome are there for the Horror Hounds specific spawning constraints while the segment with using tentacles and bees is meant to display that you can using a great number of mobs against each other. Heck, I even SAY that use whatever works for you so of course there is always going to be folk who say what you have said as we ain't he to cover literally every dang inch of this game.

Hounds are always a game ender for me, no matter how many friends I have with me. So 12 days is approximately how long I live, even tho I play the game for about a year already. Still fun tho, especially seeing newcommers reaction to them spawning and instantly killing the game they considered smooth-going
I don't play Don't Starve Together, because i dont have a PC, but my first hound attack on the normal Don't Starve was dealt with using bees. Yep. I didnt want to deal with it, so i chose bees, thanks to a hive near my minibase
I cannot understand why I find them so gosh darn cute even if they attack people. Maybe I do not mind their humongous mouths or the fact that they're as big as an avarage human (on four feet). And when you say "puppies" and "fluffballs" somehow I feel like I wanna pet/hug them (but reality always hits me in the face [or gives me a warning before it does].) Also I'm always trying to imagine how would they look like in real life or if I can't I'm thinking about which hound they look similar too. One thing is absolutely clear that they are 100% natural doggos. That is right folks. I'm a dog person. I adore cats as well but dogs have more spell on me.
Me and my brother when there was a hound wave and being the noobs we still are we made base at spawn and he died and he haunted a hound and tried to make it into a cycle so I could kill it but they turned into a fire and ice hound and we didn’t even have armor just spears I died they spawn killed us at the portal over and over again because it was on endless.
Quick Fact About possessed Hounds: if u Turn a Hound into a Red/Blue Hound From the Vargs Pack they No Longer Become Part of the Pack and Go Target the Closest Player in the Server.
Does anyone know if it's possible for Vargs to despawn? I found one on a hunt the other day and was happily dealing with the summoned hounds in hopes of teeth, and the Varg went off-screen for about a minute. After that, I couldn't find any sign of it again.
Well Beard, I must tell you since you didn't warn people about fire hounds before winter. If you didn't know, if you get a second hound attack before winter, instead of getting blue hounds, you get red hounds.
That is such a specific scenario... why do folk always need to bring up these, "Oh Beard, you forgot..." NO, no we didn't. Everything in and out of these videos are in or out for a reason.
I ALWAYS run for the nearest Beefalo herd when I hear dogs coming. Especially when I no longer need meat. If it burns, oh well, I just want teeth and gems.
When i use wendy i use the whistle and all the guards will come out i at day 10 i usually get 4 hives of spiders so more guards will kill them its really a efficient way to do it

Also my computer leats meplay on 8 fps so i can`t kill the doggos without taking damage. My 3 fckin spider nests ignore them. They also ingnored a frog rain. They ignored goose moose when he walked and been stopped by the spiders. Just ignore. Thats why i die._*

I killed a fire hound at my friends base, and got to witnesse the world burn. Fortunately we were able to quit and log back in to a world before the nightmare.
I don’t know what the chances of this are but I was in fall and my second hound attack had 2 red hounds and this was the first time I had encountered them
so... i once went to visit my other base and mc tusk was there and killed me cause i didnt have armor, then the ground started atacking the meaty bulbs, i haunted 1 and it transformed to a red one, i revived myself and killed it then BAM base burned down

Hey mate, I wanted to ask you how are you doing to have so much set pieces ? I can see at 7:40 that ypu have a reedtrap, a tallbird fortress and a hounds fortress. Cuz there are some of them that I never met like the reeds trap and I had like to can debug them or something like this. Cheers :D

What I do is go to a moose goose,deer clops or bearger and they take care of the hounds.

I found 3 red hounds gaurding a fire wand on day 2 and i was so confused where the fire came from luckly Abigail wrecked them
There is a set piece that is just a circle of five red hounds around a fire staff

I use Marble armor and a Football helmet against hostile creatures, they do almost no damage to me (Even if they originally 2 shot me)

Nah, there is a limit on them and it's a chance to get them to drop anyways so it really isn't feasible for many.

The Beard 777 I’m playing solo DS Rof G pocket edition on IOS. I can exit out and re enter but that hasn’t helped. I appreciate your response! Wondering if there is a way to entice the hounds out of hiding, the way you can with birch nutters, to progress the glitch along. Lol 😂
