Forgive me for not getting this out sooner, work has been relentless lately with these double-shifts and early mornings... I may have missed something or perhaps could've been more clear in places but this should just about cover all there is to know about bees and honey farming. Enjoy folks! We will discuss and showcase the NEW content over the weekend!
Farming bees is literally so useful. I usually try to make like at least four bee boxes as soon as I can. The honey alone is so worth the effort. But, obviously, I always make them just far enough from my base so I don't get totally screwed in the spring. I once made that mistake of making them near my base. Never again.
welp if they are going forward to that direction, they could reduce the values for butter or make it so that eating butter has a chance to give your character a coronary artery disease :p
They could add bread so you can only eat butter with that. Or if you're weird, you can nibble it like that. Or maybe butter will finally make sense and cheese will be added too. Goat cheese, heck yeah! Oh, and mayo! Completely caged mayo. I went overboard. Shut up. *post-it notes.*
A couple of notes: Bee Queen Crown can be deconstructed for 4 bees. Hammering down a burnt beebox will drop a honeycomb and free 1 bee, so planting at least 4 will make them easily rebuildable in case of fire. Only regular bees can be used in bee-related recipes. Bees slowly spawn flowers apparently, but I don't know the details. Spring bees are still actually normal bees but red and aggresive, as evidenced by their in-game name, the fact that they become normal bees when caught and the next point. Killer bees are identical to normal bees in terms of most stats, the only difference being they attack slower than regular bees. Yup.
i genuinely feel like i would die if it wasn't for your tutorials, this game, if you can even call it that, is the most complicated thing that doesn't explain anything to you. me and my friend are now in winter without anything except some basic stuff and are soon to just go to a point of no return, now i believe we can easily beat the this game in our next run, thank you. also can you do a tutorial or anything covering crock pots? i kind of get them but i don't know that many recipes.
turns out bee mines have an odd use, that use being a great weapon against king crab, the mobs can fly over the water and since he attacks boats rather than mobs they wont be killed, that being said you will have to use the boat as a pseudo battering ram in order to detonate the mines, and you'll still have to avoid the attacks.
Thank you for making these Guides! They have been really helping me out! I’ve been having problems with Sanity but I now know how to make jerky! You’ve been a huge help!
Liam Bracken sorry i last watched gravity falls 3 years ago so i was most likely way off base- but that’s just the character that comes up in my mind whenever i watch any of his videos
In addition to what is said here, I'm usually fast enough to just harvest the honey and run without being hit. I do this frequently during the day to force them out to get easily 8-12 honey per box depending on the length of days. Also, the cost of butterflies is somewhat high. i reccomend no more than 9, then drop a bunch of homeless bees which will passively place flowers around so long as they can visit 6 different flowers. This saves on a lot of silk, not only that but you could start picking a few of he flowers near the edge and use it for manure or sanity or garlands.
Taffy is good for the sanity, but not the hunger. 3 honey = 0 sanity and 28 hunger, while 1 taffy = 15 sanity and 25 hunger. Plus taffy spoils a lot faster (3x?) than honey. So....only make taffy when you need the sanity.
I almost genocide all bees from the world me and my friend are playing. Just because idk it wasn’t renewable (I’m new to this game and i kill everything, since it’s who i am in minecraft). But luckily after days of searching around the map i found a single nest and kidnapped the bees then force them into internal suffering in a beehive😅
I have binged all of your videos. I always played DST in a sort of "peaceful mode" because I'm a coward and don't like losing anything to bosses. You're so helpful though, so now I'll definitely try to play the right way
I once found the killer bee fields while playing as Wendy and I found out that Abigail absolutely destroys bees. I didn't even need to make bee boxes, because I could just go to the fields every day and let Abigail cause bee genocide and then pick up the honey they dropped. The only problem was that eventually the amount of stingers on the ground started to make my game lag a lot.
Bees are the best for more passive players like myself. Instead of going around killing everything, I like finding ways of making the locals kill each other for me, and turning up the spawn rate of Catcoons does exactly that. Catcoons cannot help themselves, and will start fights with the bees all the time. A quick walk through a beehive garden and there is bountiful amounts of meat and honey just sitting there to be picked up.
i like placing the bee boxes not so close to each other to give me time to collect each while running away from the bees of the previous box, therefore not needing any type of protection. :P
Hi, I mostly play Don’t starve RoG since lag doesn’t allow me to play together (for some weird reason, even offline worlds have lag in my pc). So I was wondering if you could pls do a guide about the main differences between the games since sometimes it’s confusing to do some farms or follow guides like the ones about summer. Great video, I really enjoyed it my friend
Hey Beard - long time watcher, first time caller - do you think you could do a video/technical opinion piece for best teams/groups of characters to survive with? For example, Wigfrid/Wartox with a pen of rabbits - Wortox kills them for the souls, Wigfrid gets the meat - team synergy!
Honey works extremely well with Woodies new update, I main Woodie and when the update happened I needed a way to always have food for when I turned on a full moon and started starving, so I farmed honey and it works well with an icebox so now whenever I turn I simply wait by the ice box and then bam. I'm back to good.
Don't forget as a wartox player they can become a new way to essentially store souls. Catch 20 bees, feed them honey when they're about to starve, and then kill them when you run out of souls.
Once I had 5 bee boxes producing so much HONEY on my friend's server but sadly when I joined during summer I found out that every single one burned down :(
Wait when he says a maximum of 6 bees, does he mean that it holds a maximum of six but regenerate when one is taken out or 6 bees that’s it, no more bees?
I was wondering if you’re able to make a guide on managing a mega base? Especially during summer when things start smoldering out of nowhere. To have ice flingos everywhere would be too tedious to maintain with the refueling and such. Having a summer base down under the caves might not be feasible as other players might join the server and walk past our mega base, hence “unpausing” the area. There’s an option to turn off wildfires but we really don’t wanna alter the game to our advantage. We only set the world to huge so that we’d have a larger ground to explore since we’re talking 300days or more.
Hey Beard, I actually have a request. Idk of you did character combos or madrakes yet but that's be cool. Maybe your next series could be all about Shipwrecked? Cause that dlc is hard as hell.
@@TheBeard777 Perhaps. Though Merriam-Webster defines creature as something created, either animate or inanimate, Oxford English dictionary doesn't mention the possibility of inanimate, so I suppose we can just agree to disagree :)

Sounds pretty brutal 'churning' live butterflies! And besides butter is such a strong healing item that it would be very overpowered.

best thing about bees is that their honey takes a long time to spoil, making them a good food source to last the whole of winter.
