I bought it last month. It's one of the smoothest nibs i have ever tried. And a very beautiful, heavy pen that always want to have with me! Absolutely vfm!

I took a break from pens and came back, and you're still here rocking out the pen reviews. Good stuff.

These are great pens for urban sketching, the huge fude nib is fun to use even though the pen is heavy.. I wish that they somehow put a larger converter because the nib uses allot of ink and the pen has to be filled often..Glad to see a few new models..thanks Chris.

i bought one of these, Chris, Sir, and i tried grinding it into an italic. i've done this on a lamy safari, twsbi eco, jinhaos and other pens. it was a disaster. the pen was the duke Guan Yu. it had three bottom tines, and a top cover and two breather holes under it. as i ground it down, everything seemed ok, but under the magnification loop, the tiny inner tine disintergrated, leaving a large gap. i tried taking the nib out, but the top nib cover was glued in, after pulling it, it bent and tore. i finally got the nib out, but it broke in half. i thought that maybe the section was threaded and just glued too, but it wasn't, it was solidly glued in and was ruined too. the nib material is very stiff and thicker than most nibs. i posted the results on reddit under my medasane account.

I’ve been feeling I ought to have exactly one fude nib in my collection, and this is the main contender. I’m happy to hear you cover it.

I agree, this is one of the best fude nibs.

The Robert Hazard intro sends be back. This reminds me of my C3 speedball dip. These look interesting but I have small hands and they look really heavy and big.

They are BIG pens. I love the music of the 70s & 80s. Spend a lot of time with headphones on.

Fun. I got this pen with a standard Duke-branded , which works fine. Also, is friction fit and able to be switched out, which I did, but eventually put back in the original. I'm glad I have it, and use it at my desk. It's a bit much in the pocket. Thanks for the review!

    Greetings from Australia
    Good Video
I have the bamboo and find it to be a good writer.
Duke make some diverse pens. May I recommend the Opera Mask Pen if you can get hold of one, which has awesome box.
Then, of course, there is the Charlie Chaplin Pen, which I think you have reviewed. And the snake skin pen etc.
    Thanks for the video.

Big and heavy pens are my thing. But not these pattern/color schemes. Great video as always.

Nice review. I kind of like the look of that bamboo model, but the more information I saw about the pen, the more I realized it's just not for me. I wouldn't be put off by the weight, but I'm just not a fan of large fat pens, and I really don't care for fude nibs. I'll let someone else have mine.

I was somewhat surprised that the cap weighed as much as it did. Uncapped the pen is certainly usable in terms of weight and length. Is the metal section slippery?
I had a cache of Duke pens about 20 years ago. They were always heavy. The nibs were, meh. They came in a gorgeous wood presentation box with sayings on bamboo strips tied together to form a scroll. My favorite was a pen with a barrel made from porcelain. They were for presentation rather than writing. I see they still offer the box.
I will have to look at the Amazon listing. Dude nibs are not for me but I am sure they have other options.
    Thanks for the review, Chris.

Thanks for watching. Section a little slippery, but very useable.

I looove mine! I have the one with the silver trim. The gigantic fude nib is so versatile for drawing. It's a favorite in my collection, for sure. But MAN... is that sucker heavy! worth it though. absolutely. ( i tuned my reverse a bit and now it offer a nice, smooth, fine line)
    Great review, Chris!!!🎉🎉🎉

I also have this pen in silver trim. Nib was just useless to me so decided to swap but the nib didn't came out. So i straighten the nib and it became stub and now I am enjoying the pen.

It is not a nib for everyone. Glad you transformed it into a nib for you.

I got a 551 a few years ago - it was so heavy I wanted to swap the nib into something lighter, & the nib was so fat I needed more ink capacity.
I think you're right about the glue - I couldn't get the nib out by pulling & had to smash the feed using a knock-out-block to remove the nib.
Definitely the fattest fude I've ever used!
