I have the splendid all-silver Rotring 600 for over 25 years now. It’s one of a handful of my earliest fountain pens. Mine is somehow still in near-mint condition, knurled section, barrel, cap and all. I’ve been offered serious cash to part with the pen. But I never will let it go at any price. It’s been an exceptionally dependable pen from the day I bought it to the present time. Not a single issue or glitch with the pen in all these years. The nib is rather too stiff which bothered me for a while. But the writing is smooth and reliable. This pen is like a trusty old, indestructible truck among my bevy of beautiful luxury cars.
Thanks for highlighting this old classic.
edit: mine is always filled with Noodler’s Black. I use the pen occasionally for certain note-taking purposes where permanence is preferred.

    Great content!
I really like the way you write goodbye at the end of video.

I bought my silver one back in the mid-80s and still love it.
I have it always inked with Rotring black cartridges.
The only negative from using it all these years is that the cap doesn't close securely anymore, the connection with the barrel has losen somehow.

Learned something about Rotring today, thank you. Heart Of Darkness is tied with Dark Matter as my favorite blackety-black-black ink.

I have the first generation rOtring 600 fountain pen. It is not stamped in red on the cap. The clip is stamped in black. I bought it about 1994. I still use it.

Gorgeous fountain pen. I'd love yo add this to my rotring collection but it's just too heavy and I'd never use it. I am a big rotring fan but apart from rotring 800+ (because it's thicker than the 600) i have different favourite instruments for everything. Design-wise i find rotring to be the epitome of industrial design. Thanks for this review

What about other technical pens? They made a nice line of stubs for art & calligraphy. Been trying to find the 1.1 for some time now but only the biggest stubs have been available. I think they made different finishes on the tech drafting & the art pens-will these all be made in Japan now or some just not made now?

Interesting. I've just filled my Newton today after quit some time. Which is, as you know, nearly a copy of the 600. But the 600 is really nice.

Last week while cleaning my room, I found this silver metal pen alike thing with label "rOtring 600". I had no idea where this came from and I couldn't figure out how to open the bottom cap... just to find out that I pull from mid section.
I couldn't figure out what the rotating top was... I thought it was some sort of mechanic pencil or something... only to find out it's a ink pen.
Is there a way to find out the manufactured date on these?
How much $ do these go for new & used market?

i have a suggestion. After watching the video again i'd suggest you write something till the last second, while you say "thank you for watching" etc. That part is heart warming and i'm sure it will generate more viewers and viewer retention till the end. You have a very captivating style of writing, even if i don't like the end result (sorry), but it is very interesting to watch. I'm sure a lot of viewers stop watching right after you finish talking about the pen.

What do you suggest I write?
Frankly, my handwriting is quite bad I try and force as little as possible on the viewers.

    • @dariusus9870

@@WhatIInk well, if i were you i would write :"thank you for watching! my handwriting is quite bad but i hope you enjoyed this video as much as i enjoyed making it." that would be the first video. the second i would write :"this is the second video where i'm writing something. I have no inspiration but thank you for watching". I would try this for about 7-10 episodes and judge on them. I mean, if you enjoy pens that much, you can't deny their utility. I am sure many skip to the writing test as well. While i am fascinated by what rotring means many others don't give a shit, and just skip to the writing part. That would probably keep them. I've seen much worse handwriting though but i couldn't compliment yours on beauty :D but it is fascinating. The way you do a 6 blows my mind :). I'm an architect and we do all letters somewhat differently than most people (like double circles for 8) but we have the same logic in starting the letters as plain cursive. Doing 6 like you're doing it must be damn painful.

@@dariusus9870 It's a good thing I can't count past 5. That keeps the number of "6"s I have to write to an absolute minimum**. :)
**PS: The word "minimum" is a great cursive challenge...try it!
