  • Welcome back everyone! Today we've got another gorgeous BMW X5 E70 35D in for some well deserved parts! This truck came in with a previously done muffler delete done by another shop. We are going to clean up some of the previously done work on this one and in addition. We will be installing a Bimmertune billet EGR race pipe, removing the swirl flaps and installing the necessary block of plates in place of. Two supplied coolant block off caps will be placed in place of the front EGR cooler. We will clean the intake manifold of all the carbon build up with some purple power and stiff bristle brushes and install all new gaskets. Following that we are going to install a clutched alternator pulley and also a "Fluidampr" in place of the OEM harmonic balancer. In addition we will install new belts on the truck and show you guys how to install the front side stretch belt using a cheap off the shelf stretch belt remover and installer!
    Part numbers used below !
    Bimmertune EGR race pipe part no#EGR170 USF
    Intake manifold gasket kit part no#11617790198KITX

    I have done this procedure on a 335d , not yet on my X5 , this video was so well documented, your attention to detail reminds me of my decades working on 911 air cooled . We have the same work standards . Bravo !

    Put some glue on the copper gaskets weather striping it will help them from not fallin off in the future removals of the intake manifold

      Those ones I don’t have much issues with falling off as they sit in grooves and the gaskets have little ears so to speak to hold them in ! But yes you could if you wanted too !

    Very cool video. Sounds fantastic. Thinking about doing egr and def delete and tune on a 2017 Cruze with 215k. I’ve seen a couple of posts that doing this may cause it to not reach operating temps. Wouldn’t the tune take this into consideration?

      Depends on the tune and tuner if they are well rounded and have seen that issue they would for sure have addressed before even selling said tune . But revisions are what tuning is all about , talk to your tuner and see if he can revise the file to compensate for that !

    About to install an EGR delete on my 335d. Will I be able to drive it about 10 miles to a shop for a tune without it going into limp mode?

    • @SkiNShift
      @SkiNShift  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there !!!! I am not 1000000% sure as I’ve never done it that way , I would think safe yes , if you just get reduced engine power sign you should still be ok to drive to shop just drive it nicely and it’ll be ok !

    Hi, what can happen in a BMW e70 35d after removing the EGR, there is an emergency mode error after revs above 1500 after acceleration and an error in fixing the P0299 turbocharger low boost turbo?

    • @SkiNShift
      @SkiNShift  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need to get it coded out so it’s not looking for that . That’s where the software upgrade comes into play , did you hook everything back up properly shouldn’t be getting a low boost error

    Whats the point of an alternator clutch pulley...?

    • @SkiNShift
      @SkiNShift  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It helps with the fluidamper some people have experience pre mature rod bearing failure due to these and the clutched pulley apparently helps with that when running the fluidamper

      Depends on the parts you use and software you get but a pretty standard ballpark would be $3000-3500 CAD

    • @SkiNShift
      @SkiNShift  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes this is bad if it broke it will send pieces into your combustion chamber possibly causing further mechanical damage to piston / cylinder wall / valves or the head itself

    Hello from Edmonton, Alberta! My brother has an X5D and he's getting to the point where it doesn't make sense for him to keep repair all the emissions crap so he's thinking about getting rid of it all. What would it cost roughly parts/labour wise to delete/tune one of these rigs? And do you have a vendor/website that you would recommend for buying the kit. Any info is appreciated.

    • @SkiNShift
      @SkiNShift  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Approx 3-4k Canadian depending on the tune you get and installer ! I used dark side developments for the egr race pipe , swirl flap deletes are cheap and available many places for peanuts and I used VRSF for downpipe ! JRtunes for the 2.9 tune was most costly part otherwise the labour will range but I usually charge 1k +

    • @TheMrkaninja
      @TheMrkaninja 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Ran me $4,280 all in including labor. Included Bimmertune EGR Delete, egr cooler delete, swirl flap delete, new vacuum accumulator, all new silicone vacuum lines, Stevenson downpipe/exhaust kit, and Stevenson stage 2.0 tune. Absolutely best money I've ever spent on any performance parts and tune on any car ever. Pulls like a freight train, it's a nice clean tune and gained 3.5 mpg.
