@@4DIYers that’s good brother & me too, tbh best cars for Milage & MPG, other then that nice body design, so whenever the Milage is through the roof ima just engine swap it because of how good it looks good
Agreed! The only thing I wish is that mine was a touring. Not even sure if that option was available in Canada with the M57. Could always import one I suppose.
One question. Because I wanna buy an E60 manual 530d probably 2007 or after that year with M57 engine. Does this engine have these swirl flaps and if so, isn't there any part that fixes this problem without changing the way that it was designed by the engineers? Does removing them affect the engine reliability?
I believe the 07 also has these. But you’ll have to double check as we never had that year of diesel in Canada. Engineers don’t always do everything right. Apparently this does make the engine slightly louder, however I haven’t noticed any change.
There is actually - by buying a new intake manifold. But if you want to keep everything the way it was designed by engineers, DO NOT buy an old diesel. Dpf's, egrs, swirl flaps and similar. All of them kill the engine but are necessary for emissions. And they are very expensive to fix/replace, (dpf would cost more than the car you want to buy) not to mention possible damage to turbos and engine when they go bad.
Silly question but would it be possible to just disable the actuator until acquiring a delete kit? We just bought an M57 E53 X5 and this will probably be the first thing I do to it. Love your work this is a very good and comprehensive video!
Did you reconnect the swirl flap controller or leave it unplugged. I did a swirl flap delete on an e83 x3 3.0d and plugged the controller in, at idle it made a loud knocking noise as the motor tried moving back and forth. I then unplugged it and got a fault code. Wondering what you did?
@4DIYers Okay, thanks for the reply. I removed the swirl flaps and plugged them with a delete kit and also removed the long rod. Put the controller back,on the manifold and plugged it it. At idle it makes a loud knocking sound as the motor seems to go crazy trying to adjust the swirl flaps that are now missing. I've unplugged it but get a MIL light on the dash as a result.
This generation does, not sure about the early versions though. The was the first generation of diesel from BMW introduced back into the North American market.
Help! I've just done but i can't get it to start it crank but it doesn't start. Did I messed something up ? Or do I have to do something special beside turning the keys ?
Do you have any codes? I just had this issues after replacing my harmonic balancer. Made it 10 minutes up the road and my car stalled. My crank sensor failed. Do you have any rpm when the engine is turning over?
No I didn't. The company I ordered from, while they did make a good quality part, I wasn't impressed with their customer service after other stuff I ordered came damaged and it was a problem getting it resolved.
Also will you be doing a EGR delete video in the future? Any other future performance modifications? Your video's are so well done I would like to see more on the 335d, I follow along with mine. @m3_killer_
Maybe, haven't decided yet. I do have the parts, but there's a lot of problems with EPA cracking down on people doing certain tutorials. Also planning on doing an aftermarket downpipe. Thank you, I really appreciate the feedback! Really love this car so I don't plan on selling it.

Needed this thank you, there’s no guidance as good as this for the 335d the car is always mentioned but never any good videos about it
Thank you so much! I will definitely be releasing more videos of this car in the future. I plan on having it for a very long time.

Amazing video as usual. Why is the motor re-installed if it no longer works?
Thank you! I reinstalled the motor so there's no fault code popping up.
I got stock E70 2012 x5 will this delete swirl flap kit throw check engine light?
No because he puts back the actuator so the engine thinks that everything is working as expected.

Hi there, great work. By any chance, does anyone can guide, what software and reader can I use to disable swirl flaps? thanks in advance.
Thank you! Performance tuning companies should be able to disable your swirl flaps.
Hey there, what type of gloves are you wearing?
is this still an issue on a 2009 2010 LCI e61?
Exactly the same engine as far as I know.
Why add the actuator motor back on? Can I just leave it off?
So it wouldn't kick on a fault code. I think once a tune is done, the actuator can be permanently removed.
Silly question but would it be possible to just disable the actuator until acquiring a delete kit?
We just bought an M57 E53 X5 and this will probably be the first thing I do to it. Love your work this is a very good and comprehensive video!
Thank you so much! Yes, you can simply unclip the actuator arm and it won't cause any issues.
@4DIYers I am also doing all the same things to my 335d and my X5d I am in love with this drivetrain and the torque.
Did you reconnect the swirl flap controller or leave it unplugged.

Nope, that is still in place, however I did also remove the large push rod. No issues at all.

Have you also disconnected the battery for a computer reset?
Does it go on the valve cover??
Do all m57s have the swirl flaps????

Great 🎉job

You forgot to link the block off plate... Useless if we can't buy them.
