I never eat diet versions of food. Always small amounts of full fat milk, butter, yogurt etc.

I leave my Kerry butter in a butter dish. If you really want to make alternative ‘milk’ blending a few nuts/oats, a pitted date, filtered water with a sprinkle of cinnamon is delicious. Keeps well for a few days in the fridge.

I agree with all. Re veggie crisps you can use the washed peelings of the likes of carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, beetroot. Wonderful in an air frier or oven with a touch of olive oil and salt😍

Love the veggie idea!!! I do the same with carrots, and cucumbers and thinly sliced red onion in brine!!! I do roast seeds and drizzle with olive oil, sea salt and sometimes add a little organic stevia it makes a very nice snack. Roasting the seeds removes the phytates from the seeds.

    Thankyou Liz
I have got that way that I darn't eat anything, or drink anything,
    Obviously I have too,
I had a stroke last year, and I have to take a tablet because of it,
I am told, you mustn't eat this, or you mustn't eat that or drink this or that,
Besides the fact that food is always being messed with everything else, I get so angry,
You just feel that these people don't care what we buy, as long as they get the money.
I wish there were more people like you who know what they are doing, we need nutritionists in shops and doctors surgeries, to tell us about food,
I am going sit down and try to read up on food,
    Thankyou liz 💓 😊

It's really annoying how some of the medical profession promote that stuff. My Mum in law was told years ago to have those artificial sweetners in her tea. I thought how can you listen to someone who promotes aspartame for diabetics.😢.

I was told that apparently it’s far better to drink full fat milk and yoghurts other than low fat. The low fat ( due to the fat size) is more inclined to stick to your insides, unlike full fat larger lumps that do not stick. ( if this makes sense)

    • @TheBlueOwl21
      @TheBlueOwl21 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

The full fat foods are far more healthy than the low fat artificial versions.

Hi Liz - I’m interested to see what you think the best milk would be if you are dairy intolerant. All the dairy you speak about - milk, kefir etc. What would you recommend? I suffer with IBD so alot of fibre is not good for me either. It might be nice for you to do a you tube video or podcast to cover what healthy foods you would recommend for people with IBD.

Margarine being promoted as healthy is a crime against humanity. Even worse when they are "heart tick approved." Real butter is best (I love Kerrygold).
I gave up fizzy drinks a long time ago, because they made me sluggish and bloated. Instead I make my own fizzy drinks with sparkling water, a dash of lemon or lime juice, mint leaves and a few slices of ginger. I need to give up white chocolate, but I am a little bit obsessed with Green & Black's White Chocolate with Vanilla 😒

my luxury is Lindt 90% dark chocolate, just 2 squares most days but its gone hideously expensive, will take a look at the cooking chocolate.Only eat real butter, use it also for cooking along with lard, dripping, olive oil & occasionally coconut oil - luckily I'm not a fan of fizzy sodas.

You are so wise! My 'fridge has broken and i am awaiting a new one for an odd space. It is so hard to keep milk despite putting it in cold water in the washing up bowl. Tried regular milk and then long life milk which kept a bit better than the regular. Then for a change I tried long life oat milk which keeps for several days but is, well, horrid. You explain things though now, it is not milk at all! Next about the butter. I am not long a diabetic and my gp sent me on a course which tried to teach us what we should be eating. That was butter not margarine. The teachet told us about an experiment done with rats offering them food. They ate the butter but ignored the margarine as they did not consider it a food! Wise rats! I like spreadable but prefer President to Lurpak as it ie mostly butter. What a good idea about the oil mix to do it yourself. You are so helpful and your own glowing health reflects your sensible but oh so accessible, choicesm Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It is much appreciated.

Oh no, I converted to oat milk about a year ago as I found I digested it easier than cow’s milk and really like it. Thought I had chosen a healthier alternative. My teenage daughter likes it too. I always buy the oat milks that have the highest % of oats and very little else but it’s the conversion to a high sugar content once ingested that now has me concerned. What would be a better / not overly priced alternative to dairy milk please?

    • @lizearlewellbeing

@@lizearlewellbeing Thanks girly , when one thinks logically about it as you have obviously done in regards the water being taken out one is left with more sugar is a item irrespective of the fruit, thank you Elizabeth, somewhat of a wise soul you are , no pun intended but food for thought = is humour allowed these days in messages? , take care you = me.

Margarine is promoted as ‘healthy’ around the world- e.g. I have found that you have to seek out butter in the Caribbean.
Crisps / fizzy drink: while I was pregnant and had stomach upset, Doctor advised crisps and flat coke. (Moderately effective).
Also heard that advised for travellers if you can’t get medication. Curious!

Yes, I agree to most… try to eat whole foods, mainly fruit and veg, grains and legumes BUT don’t eat meat (since 1980) and after menopause, can’t eat dairy! Terrible allergy … real allergy, diagnosed! I avoid all the vegan processed substitutes but do use oat milk in baking, mashed potatoes etc. have coffee and tea without any ‘milk’. Some of us can’t avoid it and can’t eat dairy. So it’s all very well to be so righteous… And I work full time so need some convenience …

Where Olive oil is concerned, if it's not EVOO, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, you're still be dealing with trans-fats just like in your popular cheaper vegetable oils...
