    I kept facing shutdown issues while playing games, finally took the courage to try this deep clean. There was a layer of dirt on my heatsink and it took me 2 1/2 hrs to clean it thoroughly. Hoping this fixes the issue, your video was so easy to follow yet so detailed at the same time. Wether my issue is resolved or not you get my subscribe for the sheer fact that you made it easy to execute this clean up. Thank you so so much for this.

    Easily followed and completed, no issues after about a month. I did the fan cleaning initially and it was ok for about a week and then started shutting off randomly even with non hardware intensive games. Fully disassembled and cleaned took about 1 1/2 hours with following the guide step by step.

    Man I can’t believe I did it! I followed your tutorial step by step and was able to clean my 2 year old PS5. I successfully cleaned it. You saved me time and money because I only spent ¥1000 around $7 USD. Also you saved me the headache of having to search for a repair place or sent it to Sony after warranty which would have cost I don’t know how much. I was also considering buying a new PS5. But for around $7 I bought a cleaning kit which included the required screw driver, brush and plastic pryers.
    My PS5 kept crashing as I just bought Stellar Blade on launch. I couldn’t play the game because my PS5 kept shutting off no matter what position or no white panels.
    Now after clearing it I’m sure there will be no problems!
    I really appreciate the video! I encourage anyone who is having a sudden shutting off problem to deep clean the PS5. All the dust is located on the radiator and power supply! You can’t just do a vacuum clean!
    I wanted to add that I knocked it out in 1 hour and a half! My system is also quieter!

    On the "warranty seal"
    "Most consumers don’t know that these stickers are actually illegal-and that’s because manufacturers don’t want you to. Under the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the Feds mandated that you can open your electronics without voiding the warranty, regardless of what the language of your warranty says. That makes all of that inconsistent (albeit crafty) language used by the 50 manufacturers surveyed by the U.S. PIRG illegal." - from iFixit

    Aside from my son's controller I just fixed because of you ( commented on the appropriate video) , yesterday I was able to clean and restore my ps5 because of this tutorial !
    Since it was still warranty I didn't remove the warranty tag but I went inside from the ventilation hole with my hand and a little vacuum cleaner + baby wipes and brush, took me 1 hour to get the dust that had accumulated but in the end, after restarting, I got no freezing of the screen (happened 4 times in 2 hours, everytime only after 10 min of gameplay) and my kids play on it since this morning with no incident whatsoever,its even more silent that it was before.

    • @chipsawdust5816
      @chipsawdust5816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erwinwayne3129 For sure you're going to need the T8 Torx and a #1 (small) Phillips screwdriver. For the prying tools, don't use anything metal. You could use a small piece of hardwood (don't use wood that might break off) or other hard plastic piece you can make at home. The magnetic thing, meh, I'd use some blue painter's tape and write on it where they came out of, or draw a diagram on a piece of paper. The tweezers are handy but don't have to be anything special; the ones he used do make it a bit easier but you're in no hurry if you're DIYing it. Just take care as the ribbons are delicate. The brush can be any small, natural rustle brush (not a plastic bristle or nylon - which is also plastic). I would also get a can of dry compressed air to make the job a lot easier and faster getting dust out of places the brush can't go.
      So yeah, there are easier ways but the T8 and the small Phillips are two things you can't do this job without.
      Also note about how tight the screws are when taking them out. There's nothing in here that needs to be "muscled" back together. Snug is fine.

      @@erwinwayne3129 man the furthest I went was taking the fan out and cleaning it. Even then I didn't completely disconnect the fan , I cleaned a bit of the heatsink too but not all of it obviously. I had mine for over an year now and it keeps overheating on me when I play graphically demanding games like horizon forbidden west. I can play a maximum of 1 hour on that game before the warning pops up. It doesn't shut down or anything it just gives the heating warning after like an hour of playing and ever since I cleaned the fan it has been a bit better but again last night it happened. I wanna deep clean it but I have 0 experience with electronics. And the fact that I once tried to fix a ps4 controller by taking it apart , ended up completely breaking it does not help at all 😭. Ribbon cables were OK... make sure the ones with lock on make a 'click' when they go in & non lock go in up to black lines. The worst part imo was the little push fit clips on the ends of the wires ... you need to be very careful with positioning them & make they push down properly ... you'll know when they 👍

    They should design the PS5, in such a way that every cooling inlet should have an external serviceable filter, that can replaced or cleaned, without opening up the console. The filters would keep most dust, fibers and hair from entering the console. Also the PS5 would alert you, when a certain temperature is reached that the filters need servicing.

In the past I’ve always just cleaned up to the point where I took out the fan hoping it might make it work correctly. Even sent it to Sony twice with no real fix. Honestly this issue didn’t resolve until I got to the power supply which was caked with dust and causing the system to overheat. That's why I was wondering, since the heat sink is at the back part where he unscrewed the two screws, can I just unscrew those two and get access to the whole heatsink?

      @@dhanu_7037 yeah it’s your radiator, gotta get deep in there and clean it out good. My shit works just like new . You might be able to do that . I just didn’t think of just doing it that way . I really just wanted to get my shit working and not have to wait 30 plus days to get it back from PS. His video goes into good detail especially when you put everything back together . It’s easier putting it back that’s fasho . You can also take it to Geek squad it can be cheaper . I wish I can post the pic here to explain . I cleaned the fan at first but looked inside and can tell it was a lot and was like fuck it lehs give it a try. I say you try it but take your time and be gentle . Maybe have a friend that’s good wit gadgets and shit to help.

    After 3 and almost a half years, I finally decided to go all in and clean this sucker out throughand through. Wasn't as bad as the PS4 I used to have but still could use it for sure. Like how overall simple the PS5 is to disassemble, though there are tons of screws lol.

  • @captaincrunch1707
    @captaincrunch1707 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    All the vents on SX and PS5 ensure that disassembly is likely never required to remove dust bunnies. One can snake the plastic straw from a can of compressed air into every corner of the heat sinks, psu etc.

    If you want optimum performance, ensure you clean the surfaces of fan blades and dusty areas with windex and q-tips or something to truly clean the surface. Makes a big difference.

    • @luciferthe2nd
      @luciferthe2nd ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alcohol and qtips is better, preferably 99%.

    • @giggity4670
      @giggity4670 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea best to use 99% or 70% alcohol on anything plastic as glass cleaners have other things in them to help clean glass that can be bad for plastic or degrade plastic so look at the bottle of the windex see what it says about plastic cleaning as just looked up windex on plastic surface online as says no as can cause irreparable damage to plastic. So be carful on what you use it wont brake the plastic fast but will make it brittle over time and easy to snap.

    For those of you who feel at ease with disassembling hardware, I recommend redistributing and adding more liquid metal to your PS5 if you keep it in a vertical position. This will prevent the liquid metal from gathering on one side and leaving a dry spot on the APU, which can lead to overheating issues.

    • @vzyro2x258

      @@lancealex382you can open it and put it back with no issues, so long as you don't spread it out when you have it open. You can even add more assuming you buy the correct kind of your PS5 has a dry spot starting to form.
