it is possible but results might be inaccurate since the wires run from the solenoids to the PCM and during all journey that creates resistance, so doing it on the pin on the solenoid is accurate n that is why Toyota says to do it on the pin.
Do you think I have a bad solenoid if I was just driving along and the transmission lost all the gears and fluid burnt - would this be a possible solenoid? I can’t get it to go into any gear even manually adjusting the front.
I'M sorry to hear that, scan it first n see what you can find, usually a bad solenoid will trigger a code but in some cases it does not, hopefully it is not the tranny, also see the condition n level of the fluid at the time of the failure.
Hello Maira San ,thanks for taking time making this video .I have a toyota Camry with an Aisin 140e transmission with 119.000 miles.Having latetly problems with delayed shifting from 2/3 .Could it be the shift solenoids. The oem solenoids for this transmission is hard to find , what do think about the Rostra .Glad for your advice .Cezary
Thanks for sharing, few things to check before: transmission fluid quality, level, scan the vehicle for tranny codes, some times the PCM will not trigger codes when solenoids are blocked with dirty fluid but electronically they are still doing the job so it is good to test n clean them, also do you hear noise, other wise it is the tranny or valve body, Rostra works too, I never used them, you can find these solenoids on Ebay or Amazon.
Fantastic video. Can you do a video for testing 2 pin solenoids? I have a Lexus lx570 with transmission issues. Sometimes it just refuses to engage the reverse gear and it has a delay of changing gear 2 to 3. I’m thinking of changing the shift solenoids. Can you advise me on what to do? Thank you
if you have codes for transmission start with that first but also the solenoids can get dirty and obstructed so they can no longer actuate as they should but because they only partially can do the job the pcm will not trigger codes.
Good video. Very informative
Glad you think so!
can you test the resistance by finding the pin on the connector to the valve body without dropping the pan?

thanks for sharing, I 'll make a video on how to test 2 pin Toyota Lexus shift solenoids next week

I wanna see all solenoid testing
there is a video here in my channel on how to test the 2 pin solenoid valves
Where can i find this part? 😢
new one at the Dealer, used one on Ebay or Amazon.
Thank you
