The concert was sent globally, as a finale to their massive world tour and also a semi-launch of the ‘Philips’ Compact disc. Pretty much everyone who was anyone was watching that show somewhere in the world. I reckon the tech would have been in fear of losing his job after that night. He also should’ve brought out another guitar during the lull after the thing went out of tune.

I was in the team that designed and installed the air con for for the Syd Entertainment Centre in '86.. Shame its gone, but ANZ / Qudos is a good replacement.. +If I recall, in their rush to get out of the staff parking gate after the televised show, Knopfler, and Sonni nearly went two into one with their Porsches. Mark had the white one. I was at the '92 concert.. it felt like a show - no real lighting effects. '86 seems like it was a series of movies.
4:07 ON.....one cannot watch this too many times. Saw them in Brisbane (purple and green stage preso...amazing), and remember it like it was yesterday.......
