Best car review channel out there. No bias towards certain brands. You drive them, look at the specs and then judge it by what it is. Respect to you guys!
I love the interior of this car more than anything else in its class. Real nice exterior too and tons of features. Some people may say it's expensive, but other cars with the same power and features are tens of thousands of dollars more.
It's a bargain for what you get. Try getting heads up display in an Audi at that price. 57k for everything is a deal. I'm definitely planning on test-driving one. It may be my next car.
It's the same price as a fully loaded A4 with heads up, except this has more power and a few extra features that an A4 doesn't. I think the A4 is a beast, but this is even more intriguing and is an amazing value proposition in comparison to anything in its class. Great job, Genesis.
A fully loaded Ford Fusion Platinum 2.0T is $9k less and the same with the Ford Fusion sport 2.7L twin-turbo is $17k less and does the quarter mile in the same amount of time.
That's the point though. Genesis is trying to break into a market that is dominated by those manufacturers. If it was designed completely off the wall and unfamiliar, nobody would take them seriously. They needed something that wouldn't completely polarize the audience they're trying to capture. Besides, if they did make something completely original you'd probably just complain that it doesn't look luxurious enough, the standards that are set by the companies you just mentioned. Personally, I think it looks great. I do think they take a lot of cues from other cars but that's not a bad thing. Taking the best bits from their competitors and bringing it all into a cohesive beautiful design is admirable too. I mean, if someone compared a woman to Angelina Jolie or Marilyn Monroe they would take that as a compliment.
Some how you guys managed to talk about the front end/headlights (at 6:15 on) as the rolling shot was going and each time you subject changed to a different view & ect, the camera moved with it. Perfect timing and editing. Noticed it and loved it.
3000Payne the fact that this car won motortrend 2019 car of the year and two more car of the year award from different host , that itself is enought for him to do that
Another AWESOME Video- TY TY TY !!!! I just had the 3.3TT version for 2.5 days and the sun was shining with ZERO rain. I live in Vancouver & am a car guy. Here are the 3 negatives: (a) The back seat doesn't accommodate anyone over 5'9" for a journey lasting over 30 minutes. (b) The long term reliability and trade-in value is a HUGE question mark (c) the vectoring is brake applied to the inside wheel- Lots of grabbing going on during spirited driving. Now, onto the Positives - EVERYTHING ELSE!! This handles like a go cart (it is a Compact car) the steering wheel feels right, the turning radius is one of the best, It has 5 ride selections, the tech is in abundance, the seats can be sporty or comfy, that engine - torque & HP is ample (4.7 seconds from 0-60), the sight-lines are excellent, HUD displays whats needed, the adaptive cruise works really well, the 15 speaker Lexicon sound system is very good. I can go on and on. The summary is this- If you want a Value filled 4 door vehicle that looks great, has an AWESOME interior, is quick & fast when u want it to be, has the latest tech and your mother-in-law will like it too b/c in comfort mode it drives very smoothly then this is a big contender vs the Germans, Japanese and maybe Cadillac. Its an all in price for the 3.3TT V-6 of $57,500 Cdn. Book a test drive and see for yourself. Excellent compact 4 door sedan and if u enjoy assertive driving try the 3.3TT. Too much fun!! Also, the personal touch and customer service is a huge marketing advantage for them. Cheers from Vancouver, Canada!!
You guys seriously are my favorite journalists to watch. You guys have different options and you politely argue about them. Such a joy to watch these videos. Thanks for all the enthusiasm and energy.
Great review, I love all the small details, like when Yuri mentions the shifter and elbow contact. Little things like that is what seperate you guys from every other car reviewer!
The roads around Tremblant is where I drive every week-end. Perfect place for a car like this! I've been excited about this one ever since they rumored it. This is what the successor to the Infiniti G35 should have been. Great vid as always!
I've been watching this channel for a long time but I've never seen anyone say this - the font you guys use for the captions in your videos when you point stuff out is perfect for the attitude of your channel. Total graphic-design-nerdy, I know, but just a small touch that makes this channel so damn good. :)
Ok perfect. First person to point that out. I used to do graphic design. If I used something bolder and more sans serif like bebas it would look too “cool” and “professional”. I felt this font matches the casualness or childish excitement we have.
I'm Korean living in US and have been driving Hyundai all along up until I moved up to 15' BMW 335i CPO couple months ago. I've been very proud of Hyundai and Kia for stepping up their games lately but still, never thought of them being close to German and some Japanese brands. And now I see this thing,,,it troubles me in good way XD. I'm going to enjoy my bimmer now but will keep an eye on this and who knows? I might go back to Korean route again. Big Thx for great review guys
Boots N Pants was just going to say it’s insane how fast they leaped over Infiniti! Infiniti is pretty irrelevant now! Damn shame I wasted cash and time on that POS 2014 Q50!
Sinoops I had a G37. Such a fun and cool car. Every person that go into it thought it was a crazy expensive car. Sounded amazing, mine was a white a black combo, a bit lowered on big sporty rims and low pro tires. Roared!
I know I'm like six comments deep on here but I just wanted to say you guys absolutely killed this review! All I wanted to know was about how the manual was and you got me excited. Thanks fellas! Amazing work!
Every day when I watch your videos, I'm appalled that you don't have at least 500k subscribers. Be patient guys, you are going to blow up REALLY soon I can feel it.
I have a 2015 Lexus IS 350 F sport Tune and I love the look and how it Drives but this Genesis G70 is really making me want one.I had an M3 before and I love the way it drove but it had too many sensor problems.
Great Review!! you guys seem to point things out that no one else does. Also congrats on the fastest lap. My next car purchase will be between this g70 and stinger.
Vince You should support Genesis simply because they offer 5 years free Maintenance(they pick up the car for you) & support they manual transmission. Stinger is more of a comfort car with sport in-mind. The G70 is really as StraightPipes said a Luxury Tuner car so imo more of a Driver's car than the Stinger.
I think this car is the best looking car that is come out in a long time. It’s powerful it’s loaded with options and it doesn’t break the bank. The quilted interior is amazing. This is one of those cars that I believe will have excellent resell as well as very low maintenance. It’s also going to be one of those cars that you can drive for a couple hundred thousand miles with no problem and have years of great service.
ah finally on the track and some spirited driving, that's what us car guys needed. You guys are going far w/ your car careers! Buckle up and enjoy the ride!!!!! (bring me w/ you for the photography part......and some driving when you are both tired.)
I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I went with the Tucson because I wanted AWD. It has been one of the biggest mistakes. The first was getting a Hyundai. They don’t care about their consumers. My car has been blowing headlights- having electrical issues (my auto windows go back down when you roll them up, my rear windshield wipers go off whenever they want, my break light seems to go on and off at random. I have reached out because as a company they should only want the best products out there. I was told that “because my car is over 3 years old. There is nothing they can do for me. To bring it to a dealer and “see what I can get” for it. I owe more than it’s worth because one thing they don’t tell you when you buy a Hyundai is they depreciate way faster than you can make payments to survive. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI.
My problem with Genesis in the past with their cars like the G80 was that I found the interiors super subpar especially compared to the other luxery brands. This G70 completely solves this issue. I am now seriously considering the G70. If Genesis updates the G80 with the G70 interior, that would so killer.
Shout out to your review guys. Made me take a test drive a year and a half ago. Fell in love with the 3.3 engine right away, and setting up my delivery today :)

Well of course Jakob won, he's driven on the Nuernberg, twice. Question: Does the G70 feel as solid as an 3 series, C, or A3? Comment: on the live stream, yall have some weird fans. Jakob, "ok, you want us to kiss? I want you to unsubscribe...". lmao.
Your review sold me on this car. With the announcement that all Hyundai dealerships can sell the Genesis, Hope the dealership sales and service experience matches up and doesn't turn off people.
I think a good car to compare it to is the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Before I get roasted, bear with me. Base model is rwd, turbo 4 pot, available manual gearbox. Top line model is a twin turbo V6. And while they don’t look identical it does look like the Genesis took some styling cues from Alfa, like with the headlights, and the cars are shaped very similar. I saw both a Genesis and Giulia near each other in a parking lot and the aesthetic similarities surprised me. So if you want an Alfa, but are nervous about the Italian reliability or don’t want to pay the premium, I think the Genesis is a good compromise.
Been trying to figure out what to upgrade my STI to, Golf R... 340i... C43...and I think we have a winner. Gotta wait for 2nd year production to roll through and I'll be picking up a 3.3 Sport!
You guys have really hip production style and VFX. Your review format is so good. Instead of narrating a car's spec sheet with cliched commentary (no offense, Cliche Corner), you actually convey that info in conversation so it feels like we're hanging out. And your humor is actually funny, not cringey. Perfect vid mood.
Genuinely interested in this vehicle. Awesome review guys and I'm dumb founded how you got your hands on this car so quickly and got a review out. Great work!
I really like this car.. I think the interior looks amazing. Good job Hyundai/Kia on these new cars you keep pumping out. Currently still loving the Elantra Sport too. Great family of cars all around!!
Hyundai/Genesis have delivered such a great product with this vehicle that even the badgewhores who wouldn't consider the Stinger would look at this. They're genuinely going to take market share from the Germans and Lexus with this. If the price is right on it? Excellent outing from Genesis.
Yeah i guess Genesis will sell better than KIA on US market and Europe as well. When i first look at Genesis i was like wtf is that, some kind of Bentley, and KIA with theirs bad badge (i mean logo) they need to change it.
In Australia, these cars are considered to be a cheaper alternative to a BMW or Lexus, but they are just too exxy - around 70k!!!(50% luxury car tax )-so generally people don't really buy these upstart brands(Genesis). Most people say that these cars are about 30% too expensive for the image it portrays, because badges and pedigree is an integral part of the purchasing decision...
Excellent review for pointing out that the stickshift version causes the elbow to hit the center armrest. No, I don't want to keep the lid open because the lid will eventually fall down and get in the way of my elbow again. I see this same problem with Mustang manual transmission but very few reviewers point this out. Thank you.
I was thinking I’d get a Stinger until I watched this video. I’m almost 50 so probably the Genesis for this old guy. I love the sport back on the Stinger though. Thanks boys and keep up the good work! 👍🏻
only problem with that is just like everyone saw how the Hyundai depreciated, everyone is thinking the same thing as you... and guess what that means? demand is now there and price goes up! we've yet to see a g80 come in as a certified unit and people coming in left and right asking for them . . . hoping to get one for like 30k. You better believe the salesman will be scooping those up : ) if and when they rarely come in.
ER B buying new cars w/Manual is what keeps companies selling Manuals Transmission. If nobody buys new cars with Manuals they will cease to exist. Hopefully people give Genesis a chance simply because they're will to keep Manuals alive even in these very high end vehicles.
Wow shoot genesis is really coming up. They will be a big player in the us auto market soon. I think people really want a good value and good fun with their purchases and I think they are doing a good progressive approach to get there.
After 10 years alternating between Mercedes C180, C250, C300 (my last car, version 2016), I decided to change and bought a G70 3.3T Prestige AWD. I like cars above all else, I do not care about the brand. The interior of the C300 is undoubtedly a little better. The state-of-the-art design, dealer service, performance and cost-effectiveness have made me opt for the G70. In 30 days with the car, I am very satisfied and my friends fans of MB, BMW and Audi were impressed with my new car. If the world were limited to the German trio, there would be no Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura.
Hey guys! Fellow Torontonian here -- I love your videos! I think this is a great car and I loved seeing the track / autocross portions of this video, but could you please do a daily driver review? I need to hear more about the details of this amazing G70!
Yuri and Jakub, I love your reviews! So informative AND entertaining. I actually tried the 2.0 and the 3.3 L last week. Personally, really enjoyed the 2.0! Preferred the balance of luxury and sportiness in the top trim Prestige model, and much preferred the interior color and seats in that version to the black seats of the 3.3L. Fully agree with you Jakub that even though I always will pay extra for the clean look of 5 spoke wheels (I'm a HUGE wheel fan), I actually hate them in the dark graphite colour on the 3.3L and much prefer the wheels of the 2.0 L that you showed in the video. I have owned MANY German sport/luxury vehicles over the years, and can tell you that I am thoroughly impressed with this vehicle. Also, loving the whole Genesis experience in terms of personalized service. Crazy for my current 2016 JCW MINI, but will likely be ordering one of these next year.
This video HYPED me! Mine is getting delivered next week in toronto! Btw the LSD also on the 3.3t and dunno if you guys noticed but how about that suede headliner lol. Keep up the awesome vids :)
Hc Kim - it's supposed to have tight backseat that is the style. There are people out there that want tight backseat and leg rooms. 2nd gen Lexus IS350 is the same way. Car with bigger legroom will hurt the performance of the car also makes the car look ugly.
Have you sat in it? I'm a pretty small person and it was tight for me. The small backseat would not deter me from buying it b/c it's just me. Something like an A4 is a lot roomier.
I’m quickly becoming a fan of this channel. I definitely pick the manual G70 over the Stinger all day. Because it’s slightly over priced I wouldn’t mind picking one up used.
Man, these cars are way overpriced in Australia compared to other entry luxury car offerings and it is even worsely exaggerated by our nation's luxury car tax (lct) of 50%.
My opinion is the same as Jakub's. It definitely looks cool, but part of this might be because this is the only footage I have seen of it so far. If they were overwhelming the streets, I would personally prefer the C-class, but that is not my favorite either. Great review by the way, as always :)
Congrats Jacob! For not only beating Yuri at autocross, but also for being the fastest journalist there. I guess your time on the nurburgring is paying dividends. (Highfive)
Hey guys my wife's office is close to Le circuit mont tremblant and I played this video for her and she said that's all she heard all week you guys drifting! TOO FUNNY! LOL!
I love how you had to get the PR guy on camera to document that he was the fastest of the journalists. I trust your reviews even more now 🤘🏼
Had to make sure it was official
How tall are you both? I’m 6’4” do you think I’m too tall for this car?

The Genesis looks a heap better than the new G20 BMW 3 series I think.

BMW 328d xDrive Touring.
TheStraightPipes, as an owner of a Manual Elantra Sport, I would totally take this over everything else in manual 2.0T!
Congrats Jakub, that was some slick driving. Loved the track/autocross test segment hopefully there will be more of them in the future.
Thanks!
The straight pipes are on a grind this week. Giving us so much enjoyable content to watch!
I think the 2019 G70 in Korea has the 3D Cluster, which looks awesome! hopefully they will make it in North American market!
This becomes my favorite automotive channel! The best youtube car reviewers ever!!!!!
Manual 2.0T RWD, I like that quad exhaust you showed. I would consider this car if I outgrow my MX5 phase.
harrismi7 “if” 😂😂😂
It's not quad exhaust though, just a single exit with twin tips.
I didn't get to pay full attention the first time I watched it. I still like the look of the twin tips. But two sets of twin tips would look amazing.
Genuinely interested in this vehicle. Awesome review guys and I'm dumb founded how you got your hands on this car so quickly and got a review out. Great work!
Because Canada is cool
I've been waiting for this review for MONTHS. YASSSS.
Dang you guys have been pumping out video after video it's super impressive. I didn't hear much about this car before the vid but now I want one
Great review guys!!!! Thanks for getting to the g70
You guys just have the best rolling car footage of any auto show - ANY auto show. Would love to see behind the scenes (Under the Hood?)
Watching in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪. Love your reviews
The subtle backseat montage was incredible editing. It was so smooth I almost didn't realize what I was seeing.
🏆 awarded to Jakub for winning the autocross.
Looks way classier and timeless than the stinger and as a VW/Volvo guy its something i would even consider.
8:43 that's the problem with many stick shift lovers, sometimes it's about image. Drive a really good auto and you start to ask questions.
Ya but if the stick was attached to the 3.3 I’d go stick
All hail Jakub the driving God! Congrats on the accomplishment
Jonathan Geraldino he’s lucky Russ wasn’t there
Just found out about the G70 last night and now I see this video, can't wait to watch it all during work.
Don't get fired
I love the admittance clip that Jakub was the fastest. *Dust off the shoulders*
Excellent review for pointing out that the stickshift version causes the elbow to hit the center armrest. No, I don't want to keep the lid open because the lid will eventually fall down and get in the way of my elbow again. I see this same problem with Mustang manual transmission but very few reviewers point this out. Thank you.
I still think the Stinger looks better. Now, I would probably drive both to decide which one I like better. Great job guys!
I was thinking I’d get a Stinger until I watched this video. I’m almost 50 so probably the Genesis for this old guy. I love the sport back on the Stinger though. Thanks boys and keep up the good work! 👍🏻
Are you a pilot by any chance, if so what type of aircraft do you pilot ?
Certified used G70 = Mine
Natt K. With a manual. Dream car right there. I wish I could buy one new, really.
Exactly what I’m waiting for!
Exactly...if like previous Genesis cars it will drop like a rock.
only problem with that is just like everyone saw how the Hyundai depreciated, everyone is thinking the same thing as you... and guess what that means? demand is now there and price goes up! we've yet to see a g80 come in as a certified unit and people coming in left and right asking for them . . . hoping to get one for like 30k.
You guys are making me fall in love with Genesis. 🥰
11:06 Well i guess if Patrick says so, then its legit. Congrats Jakub :D
Was looking at used 2019 Genesis G70 in 2024 so I had to check the TSP vid.
Crushing it as always.
I will have to disagree with you on one thing. The wheel design on the top trim looks AMAZING. Best wheel design on the g70 in my opinion
I know right, it's also soooo much easier to clean then those with too many spokes.
I agree with you but the thing about looks, is that its completely subjective.
Hey guys! Fellow Torontonian here -- I love your videos! I think this is a great car and I loved seeing the track / autocross portions of this video, but could you please do a daily driver review? I need to hear more about the details of this amazing G70!
G70 100% looks better on the looks inside and out. Looking forward to driving the Fully loaded TT V6 model.
Crazy for my current 2016 JCW MINI, but will likely be ordering one of these next year.
damn ! what a great looking car !! bravo Genesis designers
I have the 17' Elantra Sport and this is absolutely my next car. Liked the video before i even watched. Keep up the amazing work!
This video HYPED me! Mine is getting delivered next week in toronto! Btw the LSD also on the 3.3t and dunno if you guys noticed but how about that suede headliner lol. Keep up the awesome vids :)
Yes you're right. Headliner is nice
I really like straight pipes' review. It's so useful. I love it!
I’m driving it in Korea.....Really Small backseat...except that I love this car.....
Hc Kim - it's supposed to have tight backseat that is the style. There are people out there that want tight backseat and leg rooms. 2nd gen Lexus IS350 is the same way. Car with bigger legroom will hurt the performance of the car also makes the car look ugly.
Hc Kim The back seat is like that to hold you in tight fast turns. It's called bolstering.
like a 2 door coupe, i hope they come out with a coupe like infiniti, audi, mercedes, bmw, cadillac.
Hc Kim
Nice car. Can you do a short drive review in Korea? That would be cool
Have you sat in it? I'm a pretty small person and it was tight for me. The small backseat would not deter me from buying it b/c it's just me. Something like an A4 is a lot roomier.
Hey, congrats Jakub! Fastest and best journalists 👌🏼
Thanks!
Damn -- HI-YOON-DAY is upping it's game son!
Such a nice car. The entire Genesis brand has such good value the whole way through.
Okay so I’m considering this, a Kia stinger GT, Alfa Romeo Gulia Ti. Help they all look so cool and unique.😩
I’m quickly becoming a fan of this channel. I definitely pick the manual G70 over the Stinger all day. Because it’s slightly over priced I wouldn’t mind picking one up used.
😬
(Highfive)
Thanks!
Really quick turn around on this one!
Michael Lee we didn’t plan our schedule very well :-P
Yuri Tereshyn well at least it looks like you guys had fun with this video
Hey guys my wife's office is close to Le circuit mont tremblant and I played this video for her and she said that's all she heard all week you guys drifting! TOO FUNNY! LOL!
Haha awesome. We only had 1 day on track. Genesis is doing a bunch of other stuff though
TheStraightPipes great to see you guys up in our neck of the woods! Any ideas on another electric car challenge?
those rear lights( aston martin esq) im in love
More like 1 Series coupe I think.
Finally, first trophy moment for Jakub, felt like a home run, TSP rocks...!
