The G70 Genesis is actually a solid option for me for the future. Was looking at it for a while as an alternative to the classic mid size German sedans.
Genesis G70 looks fantastic and is a 'poor' mans Maserati Ghibli. I'd even argue the Genesis is better looking because it's leaner with less heavy handed "mass" found on the Ghibli. The latter looks very heavy for it's size, because it is. www.netcarshow.com/maserati/2019-ghibli/

Pavlos Progias yeah, plus i imagine aftermarket tuning will well make this quicker than then stock 3.3tt and you get your rwd, and manual in a more affordable car
@@BigCool95 Is that the thought process of the manufacturers you think? That the smaller turbo motor will outperform the higher output engine if it is modified and that's why they offered it in a manual? New cars hardly come manual with the highest output engine these days.
Only 2:00 minutes into the video and this is already one of my favorite videos you guys have done. Comparison of burnouts (thumbs up!!). Birds eye view of the handling in the snow (thumbs way up!). I've never seen someone do that a comparison like that. Very VERY cool!
I DD a G70 3.3T RWD and love it. The dynamics are perfect for application and the engine feels much stronger than the stats betray. For reference, prior DD's include a 335is and an F80 M3, both DCT.
I got my self the 2.0t AWD and I loved it as a daily. Can't wait to tune it a bit the power is just slightly less than I'd want. It's so easy to drive and comfy exactly what you want from a luxury vehicle. On most days when I'm not ripping it I'm averaging 7.8L per 100km. So in super happy!
Kickass review end to end! I love the attention to detail you guys have. How easy it to hoon? Check. How is the interior? Check. Road manners? Check. Ergonomics? Check. Styling opinions? Check. Driving fun? Check. You covered other bases too! I can't think of anyone else (that I watch) that does car reviews this well! You both have such good chemistry and energy! Here's to another 400k subs!
The 3.3TT goes 0-60 in 4.6, which puts it a hair quicker than the listed AMG43 numbers. But you really can't compare. Comparably equipped, the AMG is more than 20K more than the G70. And then when you factor in your obscene MB maintenance costs, the G70 is such a great car. This is the best car Genesis makes, from a competitive standpoint. But just wait til this summer, and you see the new G80!
@Jack njones I think the issue is people like you, who see the German badge and then try to convince yourself it's a much better car. It's just not true. Sure, the 3 series handles better, but the interior isn't as nice. The C43 has the great interior and handling. But no German car is as reliable as Genesis. And consider the G70 maxes out at 58k, while the Bimmer goes for 80k and the C43 tops out around 85k. Canadian of course. So, even if the you think those cars are better, and I'm not saying they're absolutely not, you have to ask yourself a question. Are they 40 to 50 percent better? The answer to anyone being realistic, is NO! By the way, the Stinger refresh is supposed to be released this month in Korea. You can see it already on their webpage. It's pretty nice!
@Jack njones Check for yourself Jack. The m340i maxes out at 80k in Canada. That's 22k nore. Not a little. Kind of a lot of money. And yes, I've tried both. While I found the fit and finish great in the 3, the quality was not as nice as the G70. Are you crazy or just brain washed? G70 represents the best value in class. No question about it.
@Jack njones Believe whatever you like Jack. You're kind of a joke at this point. Nobody said the Germans aren't great. What's hilarious though is that your small little brain can't comprehend that maybe others can make great cars too and they don't have to rob you to do it. The Matrix has you! Lol
@Jack njones Well It's nice that you recognize the G70 as a good car. I think our bone of contention is, how good. You claim it's " no where near". You're wrong Jack. It's near. It's arguably better than the Audi, which isn't even rwd. C'mon man! My point is even if you think the Germans are better, they certainly aren't 35 to 50 percent better. I could see if it were kinda close in price. But it's not. I too believe that sometimes, you get what you pay for Jack. But not in this case. Not that much. G70 was car of the year cuz it's pretty good.
I recently purchased the 2019 G70 with 13k miles. Color is Havana Red (more of a Cranberry with metal flake) Let me just say the car is a pleasure to drive and I am constantly being asked what kind of car it is and being complimented on its looks!
I actually tried the 2.0T auto yesterday and it was really nice, great handling, full features and sleek looking ride. Pricewise, way better than competition too.
Yuri and Yakoob back at it again. Awesome episode and nice call out on AUTO Supra and 3 series. $34k USD for 2.0T RWD MANUAL.. are you kidding me?! It's already got plenty options. Good on you, Genesis. #savethemanuals
I plan to purchase a G70 within the next 6-8 months. I will be choosing the 3.3 twin turbo AWD version. From all the reviews I have watched so far - this car has an excellent combination of plenty of power & terrific handling; very comfortable cabin/ride; etc. I consider this car even a much better deal than those others that you compare it to at the end of the video, when I also take into account that there are no extra costs in the pricing (other than sales tax), you get a great warranty, and......5 years/100,000 km. of regularly scheduled maintenance included!!! Fantastic Deal!! I was just recently at the Toronto Int'l Auto Show and I got to see this beautiful car in the 'Nurburg Green' color, which is the color I had been planning to get this car in. I loved it....looked very classy!!! Unfortunately, upon recently doing a 'Build & Price' on the Genesis website, it appears that the Nurburg Green color is no longer offered to Cdns. :-( BUT, they have added a new blue option....Adriatic Blue! Found a listing for a G70 in this color available for sale on AutoTrader ....AWESOME!!!!! Most definitely will be my color choice now!!!!! And being a 55 yr old male, I actually like the fact that the 3.3L engine does not have a lot of sound to it. When I doing hard accelerations, I am thrilled by the fact that the sound of this engine revving should not really attract the unwanted attention of any law enforcement who might be within earshot. I honestly believe (after I purchase the car in the near future) that I am going to end up being extremely happy with this purchase for many years to come!!
Genesis Canada adds even more value with the 5 year/100k complimentary valet service. Really awesome that service is free and you don't have to go through the hassle of driving to the dealer. Genesis Yorkdale even provided me with complimentary interior detailing with the regular service intervals! 👍
Since it has 20k service intervals though, I wouldn't let 5 free cab rides weigh heavily into your car buying decision lol. It is a nice bonus if you're already set on the genesis though
@@GoofieNewfie I was replying to the OP, and your argument only reinforces mine lol, that frivelous perks like free oil changes or loaner cars during service should not factor into your car buying decision. And they're not free anyway - genesis just bakes the estimated cost of that valet service into the price of the car.
@@RyguyCC that's what I was getting at by saying "extra value". I meant that by converting the extra time and cost of the servicing, travel, waiting, the vehicle is even better by value. For other makes, there would be an added operating cost on top of the car. I'm sure "cost" is a major factor for most people when choosing a vehicle.
Ordered the G70 3.3T Sport in Nurburg Green (delivery in late March/early April). Can't wait! (Not looking forward to the factory recommended 900+km "breaking in" period, however!) I think this car is definitely in a class of its own in terms of performance + features in one slick package for the price (the inability to haggle brings some class and transparency to the car-buying process that I'm very much a proponent of too!). The AMG C43 and the new 340i, once fully spec'd to match the G70, definitely start to add up and you'd be looking at anywhere from 10-15k more for comparable tech/features. It was a no-brainer for me. Love your videos, guys! Keep 'em coming!
Congrats Sajdnarrak! Looking like your Nurburg Green choice might end up being a extremely limited rarity for this vehicle. I did a 'Build & Price' (okay, one of many done now! LOL!) on the Genesis Canada website a week ago. The green option is now gone!! Mind you, I love the new shade of blue that they have added - Adriatic Blue. Stunning!!!
@@-D-W You don't know the half of it! Pre-ordered and they tell me last minute that no more greens are available for 2019! Going with Adriatic Blue now instead - would have waited another 6 months if I could do green with light interior for the Sport model, but I think only the US or Korea get that option 😢
@@sajdnarrak Myself, I was kind of bummed that I would not be able to order the red stitching with the green exterior color. I do think you will like the Adriatic blue - it looks to be much deeper/richer than the Mallorca blue. In fact, please come back and let me know what you think of it personally? Would love to hear your opinion as an owner, who was also planning on the green color.
This is a car I would seriously consider after being a BMW fanboy. Until BMW starts making major car parts that last > 60,000 miles, they're off my list. I've owned 2 out of warranty and beyond 60,000 miles. Never again.
Leveraged they charge for apple carplay. That’s what crossed them off my list. That and they’re the most expensive cars to maintain. BMW is run by crooks
Alex Sosna that and it’s literally germen over complication for simple design that lead to looking nice but breaking very fast like who uses plastic for an intake like what bmws pulling some made in China shit
Honestly that is the biggest reason why I'm leaning towards a g70 or stinger for my next car over the Germans. When I first heard that the stinger comes with a 10 year 100k mile warranty, my mind was blown, I've never heard of a warranty like that on a "performance" car before.
I caught you guys on the way out of ChrisFix's meetup. You guys seemed to be in a rush, so hope I didn't take up too much time. Had a bunch of questions but they flew out of my head when I saw you guys. Appreciate the picture, much love🙏🏽
I just spent the month of February deciding if I was going to switch from my Mercedes C450 amg into something else. Choices: 1. Infiniti Q50 RedS, 2. Genesis G70, or 3. 2019 Mercedes C43 amg. It was a tough decision but it came down to fill package with technology features, power, fun to drive, and comfort. I took the $15k hot and stayed with Mercedes. But, I told all the dealers I talked to at Mercedes, Infiniti and Jaguar to watch out because Genesis is coming strong!
The Alfa and Volvo will be complete nightmares from a reliability perspective. They are the two lowest rated brands overall for reliability...complete junk. Genesis always finishes in the top 5 brands for reliability.
After watching over a 100's of your videos, I've come to a conclusion that you guys have the best channel in this field and I would like to reward you by subscribing!
I have a ‘13 bmw f30 rwd manual for exactly the reasons I wouldn’t hesitate to replace with the G70 2.0t rwd also if I needed to. The new 3 has lost me because of the lack of manuals. Good job Genesis.
I’m in a manual Audi A5, which is brilliant, but now that the manuals are gone, if I needed a new car today, the Genesis 2.0T RWD manual would be it. Took one for a test drive last week. Loved it.
If it's like other h/k/g products i've been in, you can override the brake switch fuel cutoff if you hold the brake and press the gas 3 times. It resets when you turn the car off.
I’m pretty set on this as my next car. One big thing that people will say is dated but is something that I love is the fact that volume and climate control are physical knobs so you can adjust stuff without taking your eyes off the road. Also digital analog gauges are stupid. get crazy with it if it’s a screen otherwise traditional is fine
The one thing that makes AMGs (ref. Jakubs C43 preference) and M series cars so attractive is the drama. I've driven a cla45 amg and that car, even when you're in normal traffic, is obnoxious, loud and extremely fun. Genesis made a great car but it's not angry or frustrated when driven normally. It's quaint, relaxed and okay with your decision to go the speed limit. If they fit their sport trims with a loud, throaty exhaust, slightly higher torque, a more rear bias AWD, and a slight sense of danger if you push it too hard, the cars would be A LOT more attractive compared to a C43/M340i.
I truly love manuals. If it were my money, I'll take the 2.0 manual anyday of the week. I sorta think of it as a light version of the Chevy SS sedan which I also adore dearly. Awesome vid as always guys 👌 #SaveTheManuals
Man, you don't get the manual & expect faster 0-60. You consider it for the drivin' engagement of shifting your own gears. So don't make an arguement of just relyin' on numbers alone.
@@jeinarsantos6125 Manual or not the 2.0t version of the G70 is insanely slow you might as well settle for a used Lexus IS250 manual for $5000.... Driving engagement right there it's got around the same 0-60 and quarter mile as the 2.0t G70. Don't waste your money on an expensive car.
@@jeinarsantos6125 Exactly! I am in the new car market trying to decide what I want to buy and there is no consideration on my part based on 0-60mph numbers. I just want a good car that is fun to drive everyday to replace my 2006 Mazda3 5sp naturally aspirated 2.0L. I so enjoy driving my Mazda3 and would have bought a new Mazda3 or Mazda6 this year but they no longer offer the manual transmission in a sedan. Only the top trim(most expensive) Mazda3 hatchback offers the manual and I don't want a hatchback. The best thing in my opinion about the Mazda3 hatchback is the 2.5L naturally aspirated motor because I think the NA motors will be longer lasting than all of the new turbo motors for maintenance and reliability concerns. Plus the Mazda motor runs on regular octane fuel which is 40cent less per gallon in my area.
OK. videos like this one (both car and you guys), almost convince me to consider a sporty sedan instead of familyish estate. great job guys! you are the best.
I love this car. I would definitely take the 3.3 though over the 2.0. That's just my preference. I love Infiniti as well but like you guys said, I'd take this over an Infiniti.
Saw -1 degrees and thought damn that's cold. But then i remembered, the C next to it means that it's like 30 degrees in freedom units. so its not that bad.
@@Dillon000 I know he's joking around. But I see way too many Americans talk in the comments like they have all the freedom in the world these days. But in reality they're getting their asses handed to them by the filthy sjw scums of the Earth... I mean just look at all the pathetic new vehicle related rules in commiefornia.
400k subs!! It's the beard for sure! DON'T SHAVE TILL ONE MILLION! But seriously, this is the best channel on TH-cam, only one I watch full episodes, and all episodes. Love the chemistry, the enthusiasm, the bro-locity, the Canadian nest, keep it up! I feel I could be riding in the back seat with you and we'd have a great time.
I currently own a BMW and a Mercedes, but will definitely be looking at Genesis when it's time for me to buy a new car! Also 3.3 all the way (sorry MT!)
The 3.3L Turbo V6 AWD Genesis G70 is genuinely a spiritual Nissan Skyline successor. Doing what the Infiniti G37 Skyline left off on and the Q50 failed to keep up.
Funny when manual transmission were so common some years back and now there are tutorials on the basics of operating them on TH-cam.. Really hard to pick between a G70 over a Stinger, both great looking capable sports sedans but I guess it somehow all boils down to the buyers' character. Stinger is a bit of an extrovert while G70 suits the more conservative type. Another top video guys.
This is my new favorite car on the market. I think I would pull my hair out trying to decide which one to buy. I do not like or drive automatic transmission cars. If people only knew what they are MISSING by driving an automatic slush box. Manual transmissions rule! Wake up people. Now with that rant out of the way I might have to go big motor AWD Auto with this one only because I don’t have a choice. A manual with the AWD twin turbo and I’m writing out a phat check to Hyundai. What a sweet car and thank you Hyundai for at lease offering a Manual (looking at you BMW)
Thank God, someone @ Hyundai and specifically @ Genesis definitely knew what it means to have a traditional handbrake along with a standard manual transmission with a LSD and RWD. Hope Genesis would continue building it in years to come. Infact there is currently no manufacturers out there that builds this kinda beast in a saloon or sport sedan in this iteration. Hence thankyou Mr. Albert Biermann for addressing our needs. For making an almost affordable driver's car. Pls continue making them. You will definitely get customers like me, so don't stop.
Thank you so much for this well-done review. I have been struggling to find any youtube channels that offer quality and thorough vehicle reviews at this point, and you guys have done a fantastic job.
Thanks for all that work to put this detailed comparison together for us to see. Nice drifting! I would get the manual too, cheaper and more fun. Too bad we dont have Genesis in Germany but there are much more manual cars around to choose from.
I went with the 2.0T Prestige after driving the 3.3T Sport and Ptestige... Couldn't see paying more for the powertrain. I'm happy with it and love driving the G70, Siberian Ice everyday
I've read elsewhere that the manual transmission throws are long and that it generally feels a couple of steps behind a mazda or honda manual, and not very satisfying. I've also seen some really slow posted 0-60 times for the 2.0. What's your experience been like? Does it "feel good" to drive?
Haven't clicked on a video this hard in a while when I saw what it was. G70 with the manual is something I'm seriously considering as a second car. Unless I find a CTSV wagon with a manual... Like that'd ever happen... Again, awesome video guys!
Great great video, awesome shots and comparos with the TC settings. However, coming from someone whom crossed-shopped very recently all of the sports sedans mentioned, things you forgot to cover: 1- HK Lexicon sound system in G70. 2- Super cramped backseat G70. 3- Genesis welcome logo. 4- Ventilated seats awesome in G70. 5- The true hard numbers price difference for loaded C43/340i/G70/S4/Q50, where the gap between G70 vs Germans is at least 15,000CAD w/taxes, and the Germans likely won’t give you heated seats, touchscreen, Apple CarPlay (depending on year), etc. 5- The superb Genesis Connected remote services app (free). 6- The included maintenance costs for 5yr/100k km (G70, savings of at least $4000 vs Germans, thus, $20k CAD price gap +). 7- During valet service, you don’t just get any car (free) delivered to you for your G70; you get a G90 Ultimate trim for the day. Yes, I bought a Genesis, the only plausible choice.
Steve that’s what I thought! My family had a Lexus GS350 AWD with a similar type system (longitudinal V6, rear wheel drive based AWD system) and it was impossible to get the rears to spin at all. You could turn TCS, Stability control, and ABS off and it still wouldn’t spin. Even in rain. The only time I got it to spin whatsoever was using “launch control” (brake torque to 2700rpm) on snow with everything off. It spun for like a second and the fronts clicked on and it went. Maybe the snow confused it or something.
Great review (as always)!! Lots on excellent content with additional details covered!! Love how you guys wrapped up the review by choosing what car you'd personally buy in the particular segment as well!! I have always wanted a G70 since the release...such a badass ride!! 🙌🏼 # respect

On most days when I'm not ripping it I'm averaging 7.8L per 100km. So in super happy!
@@Pratagraph Fair. The 3.3 Liter gets awful mileage in the city.
love it that you guys left in yuris super obvious observation between number of pedals between the two cars, instead of editing it out...
What about leasing?
Was it slow tho?zero 000kmph is only 6 seconds lol
Yuri and Yakoob back at it again. Awesome episode and nice call out on AUTO Supra and 3 series. $34k USD for 2.0T RWD MANUAL.. are you kidding me?! It's already got plenty options. Good on you, Genesis. #savethemanuals
Unfortunately there seems to be a $3000 price increase for the manual (I built one on the Hyundai website 🙁.)
I hope these things sell well. I barely see them around me :(
BEST CAR REVIEWERS ON THE INTERNET
BUT, they have added a new blue option....Adriatic Blue!
@@GoofieNewfie How do you get your car serviced then?
Since it has 20k service intervals though, I wouldn't let 5 free cab rides weigh heavily into your car buying decision lol. It is a nice bonus if you're already set on the genesis though
@@GoofieNewfie I was replying to the OP, and your argument only reinforces mine lol, that frivelous perks like free oil changes or loaner cars during service should not factor into your car buying decision. And they're not free anyway - genesis just bakes the estimated cost of that valet service into the price of the car.
@@RyguyCC it's 10k service intervals + any other warranty or extra work you get done there
@@RyguyCC that's what I was getting at by saying "extra value". I meant that by converting the extra time and cost of the servicing, travel, waiting, the vehicle is even better by value. For other makes, there would be an added operating cost on top of the car. I'm sure "cost" is a major factor for most people when choosing a vehicle.
I have a 2018 G80. Genesis is for real. After driving 9,000 miles.... well, just Wow.
Skeeter Man how reliable is it?
Can’t wait for you guys to review the Palisade and the Telluride!!! 😍
Ordered the G70 3.3T Sport in Nurburg Green (delivery in late March/early April). Can't wait! (Not looking forward to the factory recommended 900+km "breaking in" period, however!)
I think this car is definitely in a class of its own in terms of performance + features in one slick package for the price (the inability to haggle brings some class and transparency to the car-buying process that I'm very much a proponent of too!).
The burnout in the beginning was awesome!
@@gsjourney3054 my neighbors 2001 540i has a plastic water pump regulator that decided to blow coolant all over his driveway...
Honestly that is the biggest reason why I'm leaning towards a g70 or stinger for my next car over the Germans. When I first heard that the stinger comes with a 10 year 100k mile warranty, my mind was blown, I've never heard of a warranty like that on a "performance" car before.
On my second bimmer, currently at 59k miles and I’m starting to think the same way; idk if there will be a third
I watch a lot of car shows on TH-cam. This is my favorite. Fun and informative. Keep the good stuff coming!
We live in a world where the new Genesis offers a manual, but the new 3 series does not.

It’s not wildly flashy, won’t attract bad attention, reasonably priced for the amount of features that you get, and it’s reliable. I’m sold.

The only other interesting cars I had compared the G70 to were the Alfa Giulia 2.0t and the Volvo S60 2.0t. I keep coming back to the Genesis.
The Alfa and Volvo will be complete nightmares from a reliability perspective. They are the two lowest rated brands overall for reliability...complete junk. Genesis always finishes in the top 5 brands for reliability.
Matt Speer the issue with Hyaundi and those company’s like kia they hold well until 120k-150k and then just start unrolling issues
Matt Speer better then bmw or merc tho breaking at 30k lmao
Im between a4 and g70 🤯 audi does gives much incentives 😤
I did a gnarly burnout after by tapping the brakes on and off. But Yuri didn't let me put it in the video
@@TheStraightPipes we need videos with the cut shots
I’m pretty set on this as my next car. One big thing that people will say is dated but is something that I love is the fact that volume and climate control are physical knobs so you can adjust stuff without taking your eyes off the road. Also digital analog gauges are stupid. get crazy with it if it’s a screen otherwise traditional is fine
I would go for the G70 2.0T with the 6-speed manual because it is a great sports sedan and a better deal than the new A4 and 3-series
@@CCCPCommunist it is tho
You guys have come a very long way from those Kijiji ads! Keep up the great work! Love from Toronto.
Yes!
So then just get a Kia Stinger?
FYI, I have a 2020 G70 3.3T Sport and it does not have the 3D display but it does have an auto/push button close trunk. Love it.
I truly love manuals. If it were my money, I'll take the 2.0 manual anyday of the week. I sorta think of it as a light version of the Chevy SS sedan which I also adore dearly. Awesome vid as always guys 👌 #SaveTheManuals
The manual version is stupid slow.... 2.0t manual is getting 7+ seconds 0-60. If you want grandma car performance then get that
Man, you don't get the manual & expect faster 0-60.
OK. videos like this one (both car and you guys), almost convince me to consider a sporty sedan instead of familyish estate. great job guys! you are the best.
my favorite car channel. it's kinda like a PODCAST. which i love

@Jack njones X3 and C300
@Jack njones I used to have a 2008 335i, that was a lot of fun to drive too. But Hyundai/Genesis are really making some great strides lately.
The 3.3L Turbo V6 AWD Genesis G70 is genuinely a spiritual Nissan Skyline successor. Doing what the Infiniti G37 Skyline left off on and the Q50 failed to keep up.
Skyline?!? Are you fucking high? The Genesis is nice but come tf on
I love when yall disagree; so much tension.
Another top video guys.
personally i love watching that beard progression

This is my new favorite car on the market. I think I would pull my hair out trying to decide which one to buy. I do not like or drive automatic transmission cars. If people only knew what they are MISSING by driving an automatic slush box. Manual transmissions rule! Wake up people. Now with that rant out of the way I might have to go big motor AWD Auto with this one only because I don’t have a choice. A manual with the AWD twin turbo and I’m writing out a phat check to Hyundai. What a sweet car and thank you Hyundai for at lease offering a Manual (looking at you BMW)
got to sit in the G70 during the L.A Auto show and man i am impressed! IMO this looks better than the KIA Stinger GT.
3 pedals instead of 2! Excellent automotive journalism
Ay B award winning
Thank God, someone @ Hyundai and specifically @ Genesis definitely knew what it means to have a traditional handbrake along with a standard manual transmission with a LSD and RWD.
Hope Genesis would continue building it in years to come. Infact there is currently no manufacturers out there that builds this kinda beast in a saloon or sport sedan in this iteration.
Hence thankyou Mr. Albert Biermann for addressing our needs. For making an almost affordable driver's car.
Pls continue making them. You will definitely get customers like me, so don't stop.
Well executed car. "AMG will laugh at you if you mention a manual transmission "...ahahahahaha
Oh! And the G70 3.3T can and does run just fine on 87oct fuel, adding to price and convenience advantage vs the field.

Honestly can’t believe the AWD one did a burnout. Also, the Butt of the G70 is absolutely gorgeous.
Tyler Beeson the G70 has a drift mode. 3:97 rear bias with LSD supposedly.
