It's a shame to us that even some Indians don't like ragas, and they react like " What the hell". But only real music lover and singers loves raga.💐💐 It's our culture, I love it and proud too

When he sang raag megha malhar the rain start. The legend was Tansen.

    The instrument she’s playing (on her lap) is called Swaramandal. It is very easy to go off scale for Indian classical singers because they sing the notes very fast. And this instrument helps the singers to stay on scale. They tune the instrument according to the melodic scale also know as Raagam or Raag and when they play it, the sound coming out from the instrument will help singers to not go off scale. When the sound of the instrument doesn’t match with the singing, they will know that they are not on scale and they’ll correct it.

      Was it? I don't think so. Like for example at 10:18, you can listen the music matches with her singing. Which is very hard to do in an improv. Plus it's a proper show, I think it is arranged/planned before. Maybe I am wrong.

    Hey I want to share something. Here Kaushiki is singing a "kheyal". That means the words of song and the ragg is familiar one but what she is singing is an original one. In most cases "kheyal"s are not pre designed but always original. Sometimes artist composes the whole thing instantaneously on the stage itself😎🤯
    It could be a case for her "kheyal" also

    Indian music needs a lot of "flexibility" in one's voice. It's agility but also the power that she displays in her notes is incredible and needs a lot of strength and breath work.

    • @MoulyBhatt
      @MoulyBhatt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is also the "math". The math of staying within that bar (aavartan as we call it) , creating the notes as she goes and yet staying within the confines of the raaga is what take tremendous practice and repetition. The natural ability is the voice, her range maybe but the math takes some working on.
