You might wanna get in touch with Mahesh Kale directly as he is a musician to the heart, and a very down to earth person.. he also teaches classical Indian music to students throughout the world... This particular song is from a play (later also made into a movie) "kattyar kaljat ghusli" (heart peirced by a dagger).. he has provided the voice for the protagonist in the movie version.. all the songs in the movie are heavenly... They have also smartly included some of the original songs from the play in the movie, because the original composer of the music for the play was a stalwart in the industry widely know for his musical plays... Indian classical music is actually a play where the singers use their voice to create melodies to match the instruments being played...and words may not always be part of the song.. only variations and sounds

Its a different dimension of vocal track manipulation it comes from ancient roots of Bharat (india), proud to witness such an art and level of master control over it .
I have had the honor of listening to Mahesh Kale sing from a few feet away what amazing controll and his clarity espically is above and beyond. The style of singing in this track is called 'Tarana' style which is the verbal version of beets played on any percussion instrument.

That vocalism is a staple of Hindustani classical music. I have no knowledge of classical music. But all my life I've heard my mom practice classical music and making me listen to all types of music all over the country. Even if I can't understand the technicalities I can feel it. One movie was discussing how music is meant to be felt, and not understood. This is the biggest proof of such a theory
And one most interesting fact is that indian hindu classical song their is no any bad words or offensive lines 😊that makes it more pure and heart touching ❣️
We are so proud of our classical music ,and being Indian classical music student I can assure you that you western vocalist can't reach our level even after In 100 years 😎
Levine, amazing commentary of the vocal techniques (as perceived by you in your best capacity) in this use-case performance and hats off to your effort at grasping the Indian Classical Music. The best part is you tried to understand his vocal apparatus strategies very sincerely and the highlight is your comment on Mahesh going off-key at the end! You put it positively and could step in his shoes empathetically. Of course Mahesh is a great young artist we all Indians are proud of, but what you experienced is very typical of Indian Classical Vocals and also a characteristic of this genre. This is merely a tip of the iceberg. Nothing to take away from Mahesh though. Probably this is your first ever encounter with Indian Classical Vocals in general and a 'Tarana' in particular (most part of what Mahesh sang). If you can endure the very - very slow tempo part (usually first 30 min of a musical solo), Do explore other classical maestros of Indian Music like Pundit Rajan Sajan Mishra, Pundit Bhimsen Joshi, Pundit Jasraj, Kishori Tai Amonkar, DV Paluskar, Baal Gandharv, Ajay Chakrawarty, Kaushiki Chakrawarty... You will have something to keep exploring for a few lives actually. In your own words, we all have given many such performances of other genres a pass because of our own visual biases....which is unfortunate and I feel we should explore such treasures of the world genre with an open mind. .. being artists. 1Tb of thanks for this lovely review!
For most indian classicals, the composition have been in existence since long. They general don't change. It's like the singer will bring his/her own voice to the composition as an added element. E.g. the title of this song ARUNI KIRANI. Google it and you find composition and lyrics translation if any in english.
This is so respectful ken listening and understanding the indian classical music and such great artist like mahesh kale have kept this legacy of their gurus and gharanas for decades and centuries and we are blessed that till this day we get to listen the long forgotten gems of india. #listenclassicamusic
Om is the music of universe continuously going on and everthing in universe has a rhythm as per satya sanatan vedic dharma...music is god....so it is difficult to understand for others how they sing because it is a spiritual, ritual thing for us...connecting soul with divinity...others explaings physical throat, tonuge, diaphram, vocal, breath etc...when a divinity connected i.e. the x factor that could not be catched by any machine of science gives and creates such music.... All explaination is meaningless for supreme power...Indian vocalist and singers have power in theris music and voice to enlighten lamps and give life to dead plants.... Proud to be Indian and thankful to god for giving me birth here with power to listen and understand the music...the divine universal language.🙏

Singing your praises

To sprout dormant
Dream inside me
Even if Earth drowns in Great flood
My heart still remains thirsty
Let me be blessed with ounce of your blessings
Let the dagger of music pierce my heart today
Without teacher life is nothing but blackhole
Whatever I leaned is so less
Just spread the radiance of your knowledge
Shower your blessings
Take me under your shelter

This particular song is from a play (later also made into a movie) "kattyar kaljat ghusli" (heart peirced by a dagger).. he has provided the voice for the protagonist in the movie version.. all the songs in the movie are heavenly...
They have also smartly included some of the original songs from the play in the movie, because the original composer of the music for the play was a stalwart in the industry widely know for his musical plays...
Indian classical music is actually a play where the singers use their voice to create melodies to match the instruments being played...and words may not always be part of the song.. only variations and sounds
These are called ragas... there are many types of rags which are the backbone of indian subcontinent classic songs... have 1000 year of history...
Listen to “Jamuna kinare mora gaon” by 1. Dr. Prabha Atre, 2. Kumar Gandharva and 3. Mukul Shivputre. All 3 versions are very different but equally mesmerising.
This is Indian classical music icon man

It is extremely difficult for even a best of Indian Classical Singer to reach his levels. He might have spent half of his life practicing this....
Mahesh Kale was exhorting his talent essentially saying goodbye to another period of nightly darkness and welcoming the new sunrise at dawn.

You from Belgaum?
Its a different dimension of vocal track manipulation it comes from ancient roots of Bharat (india), proud to witness such an art and level of master control over it .
I have had the honor of listening to Mahesh Kale sing from a few feet away what amazing controll and his clarity espically is above and beyond.
The style of singing in this track is called 'Tarana' style which is the verbal version of beets played on any percussion instrument.

So amazing to see how many people enjoy classical.music!!
Happy to see the genuine joy you got out of this exquisite performance.
And one most interesting fact is that indian hindu classical song their is no any bad words or offensive lines 😊that makes it more pure and heart touching ❣️
I have had the good fortune of listening to him perform live, and I think that's what Music in Heaven must sound like. HE IS JUST AMAZING

Hi, I am not a subscriber of you... But am a big fan of The Movie, from which this song comes from. PLS DON'T MISS THIS MOVIE.
Hey man. You perfectly identified it at 5:26. That's what's called a Raag.
For most indian classicals, the composition have been in existence since long. They general don't change. It's like the singer will bring his/her own voice to the composition as an added element.
E.g. the title of this song ARUNI KIRANI. Google it and you find composition and lyrics translation if any in english.
He is master .... And it's indian music...... Classical.....It requires lots of practice....Years and year's they spend for these things...
Current lord of indian classical music ❣️
It's divine,ur comments are just marring the whole musical world he is creating...
This is art which no other country singers could ever achieve, needs many years of dedication to achieve such voice control amd breathing
Mr. Mahesh kale is most powerful Singer in the world.... See his more videos and u ll understand him....
somewhere before 5:00 when you paused and started again singer used some actual words from hindi language not just vocal sounds
Mahesh kale is King of classical singing in all india.
