Wow, just wow! This is so enchanting! So pure! This kind of music is not new for me, but it’s so beautiful! The voices touch the deepest part of me! I don’t understand the lyrics, but I don’t mind, I just close my eyes, to let the music in. Thanks for sharing this! Music is so powerful. I think this is even more powerful than western music, which I love as well. And I want to thank you for educating us as well. You do it so well! You know so much in my opinion.
Abida parveen is a sufi singer. Sufi music transcends all. Did you know all modern copied and deviates from sufi music and sadly making sufi music into something more darker and sinister. Let me give u an analogy. Its like a demon devil taking the light from an angel and corrupting it for bad purposes. That's why some western music will make people go mad and bad. But sufi music will uplift u. And try to get ur spirits high.

chhaap is mark on forehead of muslims because of touching their forehead on the floor during Namaz/ prayer 5 times a day. Tilak is mark Hindus make on their foreheads. This is a sufi song. It means when someone faces the ONE GOD all these identities just vanish. We are same. Welcome! Love from India!!

Amir Khusro was a sufi mystic, and sufi's see God as all things and all existence and as being a source of pure unconditional love, rather than a God to be feared. Sufi's typically represent these concepts in coded language, represented as romantic love between a lover and beloved The song is saying that you can't get close to God by acting out devotional rituals - the only way to be truly close to God is to experience God - and only through spiritual teachers can you be shown how to achieve that state - in the song it mentions both the writer (Amir Khusro) and his spiritual teacher (Nizamuddin Auliya) in exactly such a relationship. It also talks about the game of love (between the lover - you, and the beloved - God) and how in that game you can't lose, because - God is eternal and will be with you whether you win (get a response) or lose (don't get a response).
Wonderfull reaction and thank you for that!! From my point of view this song transcends religion, just as Sufism kinda transcend religion or belief. It's about mysticism and the reunion with source, God, Allah, Christ or Brahman. It points towards the One ultimate reality which in fact we all are. We are human beings but besides that we are personalities. And we can't be two right? So one of them has to be false and the reason for this has to do with identification, belief etc. We are divine beings and divinity is our true nature, unfortunatly we identify ourselves with the objective experience, meaning we identify ourselves with our body, thoughts, emotions etc while in fact our origin has nothing to do with that. when a person for example surrenders himself there is the oppurtunity for source to fill this place, in other words the person becomes enlightened, divine etc. (while actually we all are that already deep down) When a persons drops his ego or the persona reality is able to show itself as it isnt't able to do this on the level of mind. so the ego (the false belief in feeling a seperate entity) has to surrender to reveal the ultimate oneness of existence.
When God, Brahman, Allah, Source, consciousness or whatever you want to call it wants to experience his own creation it has to dive into it's creation. But when he does this when he remembers his own divinity the experience wouldn't be as real. Just as our dreams the dream loses it's power as soon as we understand it is a dream, in this world therefore source has created "Avidya" or ignorance or forgetfullness to become fully emersed in this experience. But when a character in the play of life or persona surrenders itself there is the possibilty for source to reunite with itSelf basicly, when this happens it isn't the person that gets enlightend but it is actually source or God that has woken up out of maya.

The article 'Chhap' actually means an identifying mark and 'Tilak' is the mark hindus pit on their foreheads. But what is important is the context in which these words are used. The lines encompass all marks of individualism and bear no weight on any religious inference
Loved to see your reaction. That's exactly how I feel whenever I listen to sufi music. God, it makes me feel as If I am losing my physical body and I can see my soul moving with rhythm
This is my second vision to this reaction......your tears are the optimum token of appreciation of this Artistary by these Legends.....Loved to see your wet eyes...If Abida Jee is singing and listener ain't crying, then listener is either dead, deaf or dumb 😭 I am in tears.....the vocal purity of Abida Parveen 👌
Chap and tilak are visial identification markers of ones religion. Tilak is hindu forhead adorment (tika) usually red color whereas chap is black mark appear on forehead of person (Moslty Muslim) due to putting forehead on hard floor in Sajda in prayer (namaz) . So they become identification mark of ones Religion at that time. So khusru used chap tilak as a metaphor that God has stripped khusrus identity by looking at him.
*Chhaap, tilak sub chheen li re mu sey naina milae ke* This means " you stole my identity, myself when your eyes met mine" These are not the literary meanings but these are somehow as such if you explain the poetic stanzas
Thanks for sharing, your passion, attention and explanation is just wonderful 🌟 I enjoy & learn a lot, spiritually, wisdom. I really appreciate your efforts. I hope you can do this fulltime. Stay blessed ☮️ Danke 🌟 Gracias

Chaap Tilak literally refers to things used to adorn the forehead area - i.e. represent your beauty - you,
a literal translation would be something like:
"you have taken away my looks and identity by joining your eyes with my eyes"
which after cultural translation becomes:
"I have lost myself in you with just once glance of your enchanting eyes"
The writer is Amir Khusro (born 1253 AD) who is an iconic figure in the cultural history of the Indian subcontinent.
Amir Khusro was a sufi mystic, and sufi's see God as all things and all existence and as being a source of pure unconditional love, rather than a God to be feared.
Sufi's typically represent these concepts in coded language, represented as romantic love between a lover and beloved
The song is saying that you can't get close to God by acting out devotional rituals - the only way to be truly close to God is to experience God - and only through spiritual teachers can you be shown how to achieve that state - in the song it mentions both the writer (Amir Khusro) and his spiritual teacher (Nizamuddin Auliya) in exactly such a relationship.

Loved to see your reaction. That's exactly how I feel whenever I listen to sufi music. God, it makes me feel as If I am losing my physical body and I can see my soul moving with rhythm
These are two living legends in Pakistan. Pure and divine beauty. No more talk. Thank you.
Just beautiful to share with you. Thank you.
बहन आप बहुत अच्छा कर रहे हैं
Chap and tilak are visial identification markers of ones religion. Tilak is hindu forhead adorment (tika) usually red color whereas chap is black mark appear on forehead of person (Moslty Muslim) due to putting forehead on hard floor in Sajda in prayer (namaz) . So they become identification mark of ones Religion at that time. So khusru used chap tilak as a metaphor that God has stripped khusrus identity by looking at him.
ROSE ,I LUV THE WAY u summed up the vibe of the rendition ,The performance is truly spiritual, artistic of a high order. AK
*Chhaap, tilak sub chheen li re mu sey naina milae ke*
This means " you stole my identity, myself when your eyes met mine"
These are not the literary meanings but these are somehow as such if you explain the poetic stanzas
Rosalie, you are wonderful, explaining so good, I wish I u were my mama
All boundaries erase after listening to this soul fulfiling divine song
Your analogy of the crumbs vs the meal makes so much sense
