    Love your animation, they really help with visual learning and make it more entertaining! Maybe you should make a video for ABO Discrepancies.

    I m grateful for this video, after researching so much about the anti Lewis, I was left with more questions. Although I didn't understand much of the medical terms, I m glad to hear that during pregnancy this is not a significant problem

    Why can't YOU be my teacher. For the explanation at 11:30, my immunohematology teacher just put a crap ton of graphs and stuff. I much prefer the "logic tree" that you used. It is SO much clearer.

    Wait… if someone doesn’t have the secretor gene, but has the lewis gene (giving them Le(a))will they still secret the antigen to the saliva and plasma?

    • @bloodbankguy
      @bloodbankguy  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If someone is a nonsecretor, that just means they can't make the H antigen on type 1 chains (the ones in secretions and plasma). If they carry an active LE allele, they will make ONLY Le(a) and not Le(b), and that antigen will be found in secretions and plasma (and passively adsorbed on the RBC surface, as well). Hope that helps!

    why does secretor enzyme is much stronger than lewis enzyme?

    • @bloodbankguy
      @bloodbankguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, and I don't know the answer! Sorry about that; I suppose you could find that if you read some really deep biochemistry articles about the Lewis system, but I'm not terribly interested in that, myself.
