Wait… if someone doesn’t have the secretor gene, but has the lewis gene (giving them Le(a))will they still secret the antigen to the saliva and plasma?
If someone is a nonsecretor, that just means they can't make the H antigen on type 1 chains (the ones in secretions and plasma). If they carry an active LE allele, they will make ONLY Le(a) and not Le(b), and that antigen will be found in secretions and plasma (and passively adsorbed on the RBC surface, as well).
