Compared to last summer I'm a totally new person, I could barely walk and was in constant pain, now it's only a bit maybe once a week. I am feeling much better and lost 25 lbs without trying. Some of that is a bit of intermittent fasting once or twice a week. Sorry if that's not helpful.

    • @Eric.Morrison
      @Eric.Morrison 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Honey & maple syrup are high on the glycemic index, where agave is quite low. I think this is the major factor. Non-secretors really shouldn't be relying on sugar of any kind, but if you're healthy it's not going to be a problem once in a while. I don't think it has anything to do with bee products (honey is just modified flower nectar).

I have always been Very Thin and underweight regardless of hearty appetite. I am 64 yrs old 5' 9" 135lbs and am concerned that a plant based diet will cause unwanted weight loss.. Hey Rodney, I'd suggest finding out your secretor type and following the appropriate diet. I was underweight for years, but have been able to put on a lot of muscle mass with the BTD. It's also important to look at your nutrients - might want to supplement what you aren't getting from food alone. Dr D'Adamo recommends iron and B-12 (methylcobalamin) for A.

      Rodney Payne Do you k ow your genotype? Dr dadamo has written a book on it as there is more than just blood type. Im a skinny blood type 0 that would look like an anorexic if I ate the low amount of grains as stated in his er4yt book but my Genotype is GT1 which means I have a super fast metabolism so have to eat more grains. Wheras another blood type 0 may be a GT3 or 4 who is prone to weight gain so is recommended differently.

    • @Bekki369
      @Bekki369 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rodneypayne5124 It doesn't really matter what your blood type is, if your body is not in balance then you can have weight problems as well as other health problems. Eating for whatever type you are will bring your body into balance so that you will naturally be the weight that is best for you. And secretor status also plays into this, becuase the diet will change slightly, but significantly, for non-secretors.

The other way is to get the health + ancestry kit from 23andme, then browse the raw SNP data and search for the gene rs601338. Are nonsecretos nonsmelly? Is that a way to tell? When I sweat and I can sweat from anything. I rarely smell bad at all. I’m just soaked in sweat. I do have asthma and a lot of bloating from a lot of foods especially gluten etc cause I’m O+. I’ve always been an artist and I’m different. But my family has a few artists. I’m always pretty emotionally hyper sensitive to everything. I must be a nonsecretor. I also have really low energy a lot of times. Probably adrenal fatigue. I try to follow the diet but am always falling in n out of it. I think I got the weakest when I started drinking coffee in my late 20s. And the most I have is 1 cup. I’m also really sensitive to alcohol. I don’t drink ever cause I don’t like plus it just makes me feel sick the second I take a sip.

    Question: if my sibling is a secretor, will i also be' one?

    • @Eric.Morrison
      @Eric.Morrison ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your secretor status is determined by your FUT2 gene, which is inherited from your parents. If one of your parents is homozygous dominant (Se/Se) and the other is heterozygous (Se/se), all their children will be secretors. If both parents are heterozygous (Se/se), there is a 75% chance their children will be secretors and a 25% chance they will be non-secretors. So, even if your sibling is a secretor, it's not guaranteed that you will be one as well. To be sure, you would need to do a genetic test.

      You may have inherited "half secretor" status if one parent is a secretor and one is not. My husband is a secretor and I'm a non-secretor. Our son has half of each from both of us. I call him a "half secretor" although that's not an actual term. He is still technically considered a secretor, but I do have to watch his gut status more carefully and make sure we test his gut microbiome regularly to make sure his beneficial bacteria levels are good.

      @@basilisk8706 Sure, I stopped eating all grains about 5 years ago because they just make me miserable. I don't think Dr. D'Adamo is a fan of the Keto diet, but it works great for me (O non).

      @@basilisk8706 I am a type A+ non secretor (explorer) as well. I had problems with whole grains, they gave me cavities. So, the answer? Learn how to ferment your grains. It will break down 90% of the phytic acid which cannot be digested in a non secretor's stomach due to lack of bifida bacteria, hence, cavities as the phosphorus of the grain/bean/nut/seed (phytate) will pull all of the calcium and magnesium out of your body, unless you ferment the grain (and beans, nuts, seeds) which will disable the nasty phytic acid. This was a traditional practice for most cultures before we got stupid and disregarded all of that important knowledge.
