    I did mid muffler delete after buying the Carven 3 inch x pipe a few days ago. It was a game changer. It completely gets rid of that raspy cheap sound if you only change out mids. I've owned alot of Dodge vehicles and this was the best exhaust mod I've ever done. I had a 2019 scat pack widebody and had a Borla Atak on it. I now have a fully loaded Charger widebody scatpack with carven x pipe without mids and it sounds better than a full catback.

    From what I understand and have heard from others in the R/T community, the only way you might hurt your power or fuel economy is if you replace your mufflers/midpipes/exhaust with a LARGER diameter pipe. Simply freeing up restriction from the stock diameter pipes isn't an issue, but they say going from 2.25" to a 3" exhaust on an r/t for example can be an issue. If you still have mufflers and/or resonators though, they will likely restrict the flow such that a larger diameter exhaust will not cause a loss in power until those restrictive parts are removed.

    • @atlantis8466
      @atlantis8466 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Xaiborg this is not true either. Going to a 3-in will not affect anything on your car. I don't know why people are infatuated with this kind of thinking. Nothing personal than anybody but it does not do anything to your car. The purpose of your exhaust is for your exhaust to exit out as quickly as possible. That old story back in the day of your car needs back pressure, is a crock it just absolutely not true. And it's not based on actual facts

    • @Xaiborg
      @Xaiborg 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@atlantis8466 Yeah from what I gather now, 3 years later lol, back pressure is not necessary but too large of an exhaust can still cause over scavenging. Whether or not that results in any real substantial power or performance loss I don't know, but you're right that every source indicates back pressure is not necessary for max performance. On my charger I ended up doing reso delete, mid muffler delete, cat delete and didn't experience a power loss.

    Mid muffler delete sound raspy when you get on it. Also the scatpack mufflers are through flow glasspacks with preferations on the inside tube. Removing and replacing with a pipe actually slows the exhaust flow. An engineer from magnafow did a long video on this.

    Exhaust back pressure is not really an issue with stock cams on V8 engines. An open pipe 2.5 inch exhaust with a crossover would make the most overall power but it would be too loud. A cam change with a free flowing intake and exhaust would make the most difference. Just taking 1 muffler out of a system with Cats and three mufflers isn't enough of a flow increase to cause much issue with tuning.

    3:19 th-cam.com/video/A2G1EOB4P3w/w-d-xo.html Sounds like people have no idea what they're talking about. Whenever I hear anything regarding backpressure I immediately know they have no clue about building engines. You want no backpressure and if anything a vacuum. Pulling the exhaust gases out quicker is good hence why people put long tubes on. Long tubes increase scavenging pulling exhaust out of the cylinder to be ready for fresh fuel and air.

      @Xaiborg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey I just made a comment before I read this one, and I'm hoping maybe you can enlighten me. I've heard a bigger diameter exhaust can cause loss in low end torque, but usually only in cars where mufflers and/or resonators are deleted or high flow. Is it true that having too wide of an exhaust can lower low end torque and/or reduce mileage?

    Some help with back pressure from motor authority
    As the pulses move along, they generate an exhaust flow. If you have a restrictive exhaust system, it can generate back pressure that works against the positive flow of the exhaust gas that's trying to exit your vehicle. As Jason explains, a restrictive exhaust flow that builds up back pressure is only hurting the power your vehicle can deliver because it's not working efficiently.
    However, a little back pressure is a good thing. In fact, it helps. The right size pipe is large enough to breathe well but small enough to create a high exhaust flow. Steps in the exhaust system also create negative pressure waves that travel back to the cylinder and help empty the cylinder of those gases.

    How do you pass emissions?

    • @DrivewayDreams
      @DrivewayDreams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It helps to know a guy. I believe not having mufflers would actually make you fail the safety portion. Here in Missouri when they do emissions all they do is plug a computer into your obd2 port and look for a check engine codes. Having mufflers is actually part of the safety inspection. When they lift your car up to check your tires and suspension they actually check for mufflers and catalytic converters then. So really you just have to know a shop that really just doesn't give a damn about that. Usually a muffler shop that will do a muffler delete in first place will pass your car if you take it back there for your inspections.

      @@DrivewayDreams me also I own 3 hemis . 2006 daytona , 2015 durango rt, n 2017 392 daytona . I learned the hard way about power loss. 06 is heavily modified. Start with muffler delete. My 390 hp 0n dyno dropped 15% from 2500 to 3500 rpm . So I put a mopar intake thought I would gain back . Got much more top end lost even more low end . Then talk to a dealer tech friend told me to put it all back . It was damaged in a flood. So that was not an option. He hooked me up with a stage 3 chip n an under drive pully kit . Was the only way to get back what was lost n then some . Now it's 495whp n 501 torque. But cost me around $7000 because of me messin with it. Now it's ready for a $10,000 blower though

      @@DrivewayDreams it's true about needing the back pressure it helps open n close the valves so yya do put extra wear on the already strained roller lifters. Biggest killer of the new hemis is sitting n idling . That's why ya see a lot of police cruiser hemis getting lifters n valves done early life

      @@DrivewayDreams you have a nice ride there done destroy it my man. Looks almost like my 17 daytona. If ya watch the videos of these morons with the hell cats line locking n doughnut burn outs. It's the worst thing to do to them . Over heats bearings in the superchargers n burns them out. $15000 to replace n not covered under warranty. Was gonna buy a used 1 but every 1 I looked at had like a valve tick coming from the blower when it wasn't running. So asked my friend if it was normal n he told me about it. So gonna save my $$$$buy a new 1 . Like the rebal trx n hell cat durangos might pick 1 up to add to my collection. Good luck with yours man be safe

    Wait so I can get away legally with a muffler delete as long as I keep the resonators?

    Did deleting your mid mufflers void your warranty on the car?
