For all asking -- I stopped reading the Star Wars comics about 4 years ago and have no real desire to get back into them (I sold off my entire collection as well). It would be an INCREDIBLY daunting and time-consuming task to update this with an additional 4 years worth of material for a "Volume Three", and likely wouldn't perform very well. A "Volume Three" isn't something I believe I'll ever get around to. I recently found your channel and I think these canon videos are great! Back in October, I started a chronological journey through every movie, book, comic, tv show, and game in the new canon and I love how much the comics (and novels) add to the world of Star Wars. I’m currently in the post episode IV part of the timeline and there are so many comics there! Your channel (and the timeline of canon media on Wookieepedia) have been extremely helpful... thanks!
Eventually, yes. It's not the kind of thing that can be updated every month or two -- I need to wait for multiple arcs to finish before I do, otherwise there's very little change.
Awesome video once again, absolutely loved it! It would be cool if you added IDW comics into the next volume but mention that they're IDW. GREAT VIDEO!!!
Ya Boi Midget IDW are a comics publisher who mainly print comics for kids. They have the Disney license, so publish all the Mickey / Donald etc. comics and also print a series of "Star Wars Adventures" comics for kids.
Ya Boi Midget pleasure mate. By the way, I got your email the other day, had a busy few days, so haven’t had the chance to reply just yet - but I’ll get back to you soon!
Thank you so much for making this video it's such a huge help for someone like me who has OCD and needs to have there comics in chronological order. Hope you do another of these videos soon!
I know that the you probably did not know it then but... the new Lando comic and Solo would actually be placed before the Rebels TV series. Just to let you know when you make a updated version of this. I love them though keep it up!
Thanks heaps mate. Been tossing up whether to add the IDW stuff or not... technically they’re canon, but they have a different feel, and they’re a little more difficult to place. We’ll see... I might add them to Volume 3. Been considering a Marvel one, but is been done by plenty of others, so not sure if anyone would watch one if I did one
They are star wars comic's made by IDW called star wars adventures aimed at young reader's they jump all over the timeline so would be a pain fitting them into the timeline. IDW are knowing for TMNT and Ghostbusters comic's and lots of other's.
When you said that it might not be a good place to start for newcomers, where do you recomend to start? I don't know, maybe you said it in the video but I didn't catch it ;)
My recommended place would be with the first issues of Star Wars and Darth Vader. Excellent jumping off point for the saga. Although, reading the Princess Leia limited series directly before would also be a good point, considering it happens right after ANH and right before the Star Wars series.
Any word on a volume 3? Imagine it’s quite daunting to take on putting this together but it would be a huge help to lots of people if you could manage it.
Unfortunately, I stopped reading these about 4 years ago and have no real desire to get back into them. It would be an INCREDIBLY daunting task to update this with an additional 4 years worth of material, so this isn't something I think I'll ever get around to. Wookiepedia has a REALLY TERRIFIC timeline of all the canon comics, though! starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline_of_canon_comics
@@DaveLeeDownUnder Oh right, thanks for the reply, why did you stop reading the comics, do they become rubbish, or is it a lapse of interest in the Star Wars universe in general? Just curious because you seemed so into it in the videos.
I've read the arc about when Vader gets his lightsaber. I think it might be the "chosen one" arc or it might be legends! Do you know which series I am talking about?
Prince Of Zakuul to read the crossover events you sorta have to read the others. I suggest you read everything leading up to Vader Down and even read the whole Darth Vader run its fantastic. Skip Screaming Citadel but read the Doctor Aphra series it is fantastic and I just finished the 3rd volume which is some of the best Star Wars you can get. Honestly the later volumes of Star Wars really did in quality and isn’t that great past volume 4, volume 6 I enjoy but I know a lot of others don’t and I found this latest run about the Mon Cala to be awful and really disappointing
After reading Lando and Han Solo I think your placement of those two tpbs are wrong. I think Lando takes place during the rebels period and han solo takes places just before the main star wars series.
Like I said, the Luke / Han / Leia bits are a framing device. The main bulk of the story with Yoda works as a “flashback” which occurs at the beginning of the timeline
@@DaveLeeDownUnder They do, but why read it then when the story is actually Luke reading it, and he's reading it in between IV and V. A lot of that comic is set between Hope and Empire, so wouldn't it better to read it then, rather than when the flashbcks take place?
Thank you. This video was produced almost 2 months before Solo was released and I even say in the video, at the time it wasn't 100% confirmed where it fits in the timeline. It will be fixed for Vol 3
Dave Lee Down Under Thanks man I just wanted to know when are you going to see Avengers Infinity War if it's before the 24th then I have some questions. Can you take out some of your precious time to answer some of my questions ??? No pressure . Thanks
Not too sure when I'm seeing it yet, it will most likely be 1-2 days before general release in Australia (which is the 25th). What are your questions? If I'm legally allowed to answer before release, I will try my best :)
Aleksandr Demidov I think it is fantastic for younger people or people who couldn’t keep up with the old canon and lets be honest they haven’t got a 100% strike rate like this new canon is

Dave Lee Down Under is this all the comics?
This is all the currently published trade paperback collections
We need volume 3 of this video !
please do a volume 3 in 2020 we really need it
We need a Volume 3! So much has happened since this was released!
Your channel (and the timeline of canon media on Wookieepedia) have been extremely helpful... thanks!
INSANE , i'm a big star wars fan and I am starting to read the comics ! This help so much to dive in ! Thanks
You should make a 2020 update to this, so much has come out since
Do part 3 please!!!!!
Still waiting for Volume 3
Loved this! An incredible video!!
Thank you!
please update this
When do you think you will release a vol 3 because just wandered where darth vader vol 5.But amazing video mate
Please make a Vol 3.
Would love to see an update on the time line
Great video
His voice sounds diffrent also can’t wait for volume 3
Are you going to do a volume 3 of this?
Eventually, yes. It's not the kind of thing that can be updated every month or two -- I need to wait for multiple arcs to finish before I do, otherwise there's very little change.
Dave Lee Down Under what about now?
Dave Lee Down Under what about now? :)
What about now? Please?
Dave Lee Down Under what about now
Can you update this timeline?
Awesome video once again, absolutely loved it! It would be cool if you added IDW comics into the next volume but mention that they're IDW. GREAT VIDEO!!!
THE THREE LEMONS I probably sound like an idiot but what are IDW
Considering adding them next time round, but figuring out their placement is going to be tricky. We'll see how we go.
Ya Boi Midget IDW are a comics publisher who mainly print comics for kids. They have the Disney license, so publish all the Mickey / Donald etc. comics and also print a series of "Star Wars Adventures" comics for kids.
Dave Lee Down Under thanks dave
Ya Boi Midget pleasure mate.
By the way, I got your email the other day, had a busy few days, so haven’t had the chance to reply just yet - but I’ll get back to you soon!
Are you planning on making a volume 3?
Please make a new one of these..
Thank you so much for making this video it's such a huge help for someone like me who has OCD and needs to have there comics in chronological order. Hope you do another of these videos soon!
Hoping to very soon - stay tuned
@@DaveLeeDownUnder
I haven't both videos, volume 1 and volume 2?, do we know why volume 2 is shorter than vol one?
when will you update this timeline
Thank you so much for this marvelous layout David. Visually, it really provides a simple understanding to the timeline ;)
14:04 - 14:09 You say "Star Wars Volume 31" twice. Great vid as usual Dave!
Hehe oops. 31 and 32 that should be.
Another Great Video Dave
Thanks, mate!
Hi, I know it has been a while since this video was uploaded. I was just wondering if it is possible to get a jpeg of the graphic used in this video?
I’ve been reading Thrawn issue by issue and am super excited for the new Lando series
Awesome mate, really looking forward to the new Lando!
I know that the you probably did not know it then but... the new Lando comic and Solo would actually be placed before the Rebels TV series. Just to let you know when you make a updated version of this. I love them though keep it up!
Awesome. Love it! So fascinating re shuffling of some issues of which I agree. Do you have this timeline in list format anywhere?
Great to hear man! Thanks heaps.
Working on a list, not sure when / how I’ll release it. Keep an eye open!
When is volume 3 coming out?
So Volume 3 is coming or no?
Been waiting for this but what about the idw comics haha and will you be doing a MCU timeline with the films and shows ? as always dave great vid
I would like your take on things like what worked and didn't and you don't hold any punches like this vid which i like
Okay, well I might just do one! Thanks heaps
John Ingham I probably sound like an idiot but what are IDW’s
They are star wars comic's made by IDW called star wars adventures aimed at young reader's they jump all over the timeline so would be a pain fitting them into the timeline. IDW are knowing for TMNT and Ghostbusters comic's and lots of other's.
excelent video!!!...please do the same with de novels of this canon !!! =)
Thank you! It's been highly recommended.
will you do an updated version of this for 2021?
When you said that it might not be a good place to start for newcomers, where do you recomend to start? I don't know, maybe you said it in the video but I didn't catch it ;)
My recommended place would be with the first issues of Star Wars and Darth Vader. Excellent jumping off point for the saga.
Although, reading the Princess Leia limited series directly before would also be a good point, considering it happens right after ANH and right before the Star Wars series.
Please do a third one
What about Droids: Unplugged? It's canon, isn't it?
Thank you
Pleasure!
the clone wars is amazing! It used to be on ABC3 a few years ago!
I've read the arc about when Vader gets his lightsaber. I think it might be the "chosen one" arc or it might be legends! Do you know which series I am talking about?
Popcorn Chat it is Darth Vader Dark lord of the Sith Vol 1 where he retrieves a lightsaber but not his one from the original trilogy
Ya Boi Midget's got it. Was a really great arc
Dave Lee Down Under yeah really enjoyed it as well
Volume 3🙏🏼
when should i read the kanan epilogues? they’re during rebels
Please do part 3
Sorry, I stopped reading these comics like 3 years ago.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder oh damn, that’s okay, love your other videos
will you be making another current one? a volume 3?
At some point soon, yes.
where does the solo film fall in this timeline? now we know the events in the film are earlier than we assumed?
I’d move both Solo and Lando: Double or Nothing one step back, just before Rebels
Dave Lee Down Under cheers dave im literally using this vid after finishing each comic, thank you so much im new to the star wars comic world
Not a problem mate. That's awesome to hear -- glad to hear they're of some help! Happy reading.
Yay!!
Woo!
I just noticed that you said episode 4 for return of the Jedi. Lol
Will The Last Jedi be released as a hard cover?
I just started read main star wars line...do think its nessarry to read the crossover event comics? oh thx for the timeline really helps..
What the best tpb version of a new hope that isn't the 1977 version? Darkhorse?
After reading Lando and Han Solo I think your placement of those two tpbs are wrong. I think Lando takes place during the rebels period and han solo takes places just before the main star wars series.
You’re correct, I made this video before the movie was released - this has been pointed out in other comments.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder Volume 3 is overdue.
please do a volume 3 for 2022
I stopped reading these about 4 years ago - sorry, but I won’t be doing any more.
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Why the timeline starts with Yoda if Luke, Han and Leia are there?
Like I said, the Luke / Han / Leia bits are a framing device. The main bulk of the story with Yoda works as a “flashback” which occurs at the beginning of the timeline
@@DaveLeeDownUnder oh okay, thank you.
Can you do a legends version
There’s literally over a thousand Legends texts. That would take me months to make and the video would be about 5 hours long
Dave Lee Down Under Shame
Can you do one for the novels? Or even better fill in the novels into this? ( sorry for my english i'm from germany )
Maurice Westrup the novel timeline is fairly easy to understand as you get a timeline at the front of your book
I may end up adding the novels to my timeline at some point, but we'll see how we go
Dave Lee Down Under Okay
I wouldn't read Yoda's Secret War first. The parts that take place before Episode I are flashbacks, and they therefore don't take place first.
If the flashback parts take place before episode I, then those parts, do in fact, take place first
@@DaveLeeDownUnder They do, but why read it then when the story is actually Luke reading it, and he's reading it in between IV and V. A lot of that comic is set between Hope and Empire, so wouldn't it better to read it then, rather than when the flashbcks take place?
Great video, but solo takes place before Star was rebels.
Thank you. This video was produced almost 2 months before Solo was released and I even say in the video, at the time it wasn't 100% confirmed where it fits in the timeline. It will be fixed for Vol 3
ok, i wasn't trying to criticize just so you know.
Yeah I know 😊 don’t worry
solo is before rebels
Volume 3 anytime soon? 🙈
Soon!
@@DaveLeeDownUnder So gutted you dont make these anymore :-(
Vol. 3 ?
Very soon
@@DaveLeeDownUnder Nice !!
Star Wars sólo and Lando comes before rebels
Yep, wasn’t clear when I produced the video.
And I own all the new Marvel stuff. It's good shit
Lance Denis yeah I own it all available on digital it’s awesome
It's fantastic stuff
Hey Dave I am the Black Panther spoled comments guy . I need to talk to you sir,
Go for it
Dave Lee Down Under Thanks man
I just wanted to know when are you going to see Avengers Infinity War if it's before the 24th then I have some questions.
Dave Lee Down Under Thanks man
Dave Lee Down Under You really appreciate your fans
Disney canon will never be true Star Wars Canon
Ok mate, not the place for that. Take it elsewhere.
Aleksandr Demidov To you maybe. Get outta town
Aleksandr Demidov I think it is fantastic for younger people or people who couldn’t keep up with the old canon and lets be honest they haven’t got a 100% strike rate like this new canon is
