While hard to follow, despite me owning all of these... this is a Very good, and comprehensive video, on the timeline for the Canon Star Wars Marvel comics. Shout out to the fact you are listing out the different ways to collect these issues as well!
Explaining this to friends is hilarious but me and a buddy started the journey last august and we’ve read 23 novels and all the comics that fill in! Great time!
Thank you for detailed non spoiler timeline!! You are the only one who did it! I have the Dark Horse Series and am half way thru reading. This will guide me till the end of existing comics. Of course waiting for some comics to be collected.
Great reading order! I was playing with the tought of starting collecting star wars comics but had no Idea which comic plays when, so that video is a great help.
Man this video is awesome. I’m new to comics and couldn’t find any videos about this. Having a legends series and canon series is very confusing to figure out what belongs to what.
I’m not even half way through the video yet but this is easily the best video for Star Wars comics, the recommendations are 🔥🔥. I’m currently reading the Darkhorse Thrawn series based on the Zahn novels on my iPad as a prelude to Dark Empire and I’m so hooked. Feel like a little kid again, haha.
Fantastic video! you’re great at speaking, I know that’s not like a huge skill but you speak very clearly and direct and don’t stray off making it very easy to follow, thank you for this video!👏👏
I absolutely love this youtuber. Oh. My Goodness. I have been looking for you for years!!!!! I never knew there was a youtuber like this out there. I am immediately a subscriber. WOW!!!!
Great overview, Riley! This video arrived at a perfect time, as I'm suddenly on a Star Wars reading kick again thanks to The Mandalorian S2 finale. I'm mostly focusing on what is considered Legends now, but I plan to dive into the current canon stuff still as well. I own both Vader series in OHC so those will likely be where I go next in canon, while with the old Dark Horse stuff I'll probably read what used to be the "Republic" series.
Great video! Question: I thought the “Age of” comics only had 9 issues each? You mentioned there were 10. I know there’s 4 one-shots for villains, 4 for heroes, and then 1 special. What’s the tenth issue?
Can you make videos like this about Justice League Odyssey? (or just Starfire's), and Aquaman's, and one of Damien Wayne's, and maybe one of Darkseid's as well, and if you could also add during the video their reading order in trade paperbacks
This was really helpful only recently started to get into the comics for Star Wars and this helped me know which ones to pick up and the order they go in thanks!
Great Marvel Star Wars Chronological Guide to Reading and Collecting Ryley this help me out a lot to understand Star Wars comics at Marvel better. I've been a bit behind on getting my Marvel Star Wars Comics but do plan on getting more soon. Also I think that they Disney / Lucasfilm should make a Doctor Aphra TV Series or Film and have Chloe Bennet (From Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) she would be so prefect for the role in live action and looks like the comic book character. Anyways great list Ryley keep up the great work and MTFBWY Always !!!
The issue is that while I’ve read every one of these I haven’t read all the novels... or any of the novels, really, so I would feel really out of place doing it.
I’m unfortunately not as knowledgeable on those but I think if I were to do it I’d wait until everything is released so it can be a comprehensive video
Very helpful and informative video, as always, Riley. I mostly enjoy the Dark Horse stuff, but this made me want to read a lot of the new Marvel Star Wars comics. Thanks for that.
I got a amazon card for my birthday and I bought tons of Tales Of The Jedi and Dawn Of The Jedi and Golden Age Of The Sith etc etc , if I sent you a a few screen shots of my collection could you maybe try to tell me where to start reading and where to finish my collection . I had no idea there were so many Star Wars comics and I feel terribly lost in what I bought .
Great video theirs still some stuff I want to check out here and to be more specific son of dathomir I’d put between S6 and S7 of clone wars without spoilers it just makes sense and the Kanan series dose show current timeline stuff with rebels season 1 but really great piecing it all together Ryley 🤘🏻
What on Earth is going on with their OHC editions? I was dissapointed by what happened with the main SW series, but that at least made sense (they started doing OHC, they didn't sell as well as they were hoping (?), they stopped doing them). But now with Aphra... I just give up I guess. They publish one HC, don't publish or announce another, but instead they make an Omni with enough material to cover 3 HC that I guess will never be published? Did I buy that HC for nothing? Should I just continue with TPBs since the second Omni might never see the light of day, like it happened with main series? The lack of information or any coherent strategy is frustrating.
The sales on the Aphra OHC were absolutely dismal and the sales on the Star Wars Omnibus were also pretty poor, but they are trying to give a second chance due to increased interest due to Mandalorian and the wave of other upcoming shows and movies that were announced. If sales on Aphra and the upcoming Old Republic omnis are good enough it’ll likely solidify future Omni and OHC releases.
@@omnibuscollector I'm not at all surprised that the Aphra HC did not sell well. It is a well received, but ultimately mariginal character. Her run is already 7 TPB in. Collectors got burned on previous SW HC releases (thank God Vader: DLotS got volume 2, although it took forever). In the end it's a book for no one - new readers rarely jump all in on HC editions, they will rather dip their toe in digital or single TPB, someone who heard good things and wants to know the story won't buy an edition that will take years to catch up, and collectors are not willing to double dip on an edition that, looking at previous exhibits, probably doesn't have much future. That's what a bad, unpredictable publishing strategy leads to. It's a shame, it's a really good series, worthy of a nice format edition. Hope the omni does better. Anyway, thank you very much for your reply. I discovered your channel lately (via Near Mint Condition) and I am really enjoying what you do.
@@Corrat_ preorders seem to be pretty good on Aphra, and I want to say Disney probably knows something about the character that we don’t because that kind of release usually ties into a media appearance. I’ll have to report back once the book is released to mention how much it has sold/how quickly it sells out.
You've probably heard this but you remind me of Billy Mays and Al from Home Improvement. I love your intro. I just recently found your channel but I really like it. I've only been collecting and reading manga the past couple of years. :)
I’ve gotten Al before but not Billy. I usually get Johnny Galecki/Leonard from Big Bang Theory. I think more Al now that I’ve put on some extra pounds but eh, there could be worse comparisons LMAO
@@omnibuscollector It's definitely the beard. :) I can see Johnny Galecki too. Your intro is very creative and funny. I really hope I can have a big collection one day in the future. I like that you definitely read them and give reviews. Also your setup was so cool.
I really want to get into Doctor Aphra. I really think she is definitely gonna be in a show or movie in the future. I'm not sure how much of the other comics I have to read before I get into the main series. I know I have to read Darth Vader and the main Star Wars comic, but I'm not sure how many volumes of those two I have to read before the first Doctor Aphra volume. These comics can get confusing sometimes 😅 Also, didn't know you were a big Star Wars guy. I've only fully read about maybe 4 of the 6-7 issue stories. I mainly focus on the shows. I know all the shows like the back of my hand.
The Dr Aphra omni seems to collect all the Darth Vader and Star Wars issues that she appeared in, other than her solo series. Though I'm not sure an issue here and there would give a good picture of the overall story. If you want to, the Darth Vader by Gillen is the only one to read for a full context as she plays a part throughout the series. Star Wars by Aaron not necessary.
Did you ever make an excel or PDF that outlines all the content you discussed here? if so I'd love to get a copy of that so I can scratch off each part as I finish it. PS thank you for this outline! this has been a holy grail for me as I have started my SW rabbit hole :)
So I was wondering, I’m new to comics completely In a comic book store I found it the 2015 Star Wars comic number 54. Single issue Is it possible to get all 75 issues in single issues. Like I said, I’m completely new to comics so I have no idea what im doing. I just thought it would be cool to have them in single issues in a box bagged and boarded. Any help would be really appreciated
Which comics/series would you guys recommend looking at their overall importance and impact to the whole storyline? For instance series that focus on a certain timeline/transitionperiod in between ages and how they changed or just main characters and their story. Personally i want to learn more about things we dont get to see in the movies and shows, especially the transitionperiods in between the age of the republic/ empire and the empire/ first order. Also side storys or background stories from important characters and stuff like that
Older comment but I started with Dark Lord of the Sith. It was the second Vader run Marvel did but it takes place between III and IV and is a perfect standalone series that captures vaders perspective of the transition.
While hard to follow, despite me owning all of these... this is a Very good, and comprehensive video, on the timeline for the Canon Star Wars Marvel comics. Shout out to the fact you are listing out the different ways to collect these issues as well!
"Anakin killing kids and all that good stuff" wahahahha
This was really interesting, should try to do more of these for collecting and reading purposes
I too would like more stories set between episodes 1 and 2 focusing on Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padame
Explaining this to friends is hilarious but me and a buddy started the journey last august and we’ve read 23 novels and all the comics that fill in! Great time!

Many, many thanks for this video. It's a super helpful guide. Thank you.
Just the guide I was looking for! Very detailed and easy to follow
Thank you - for someone just getting into these comics that was very useful.
This was great, so much info that helped me get the books I’ve been missing to fill the gaps . Really awesome video dude. Thank you
I wish I could like this video twice because this was the most informational video out there. Good shit.

Same here, have you already started? I think I will just follow the exact timeline that is explained in this video.

Thanks for the presentation, I collect only the canon books from Disney and it was really helpful with the timeline and all.
This was really great. Just started collecting, thanks for the help.
The Dr Apra omnibus is being released soon. It wasnt around when this vid was made.
Amazing video!! Just what I needed. Keep going with your excellent work.
Wow this was so helpful, exactly what I needed! Thank you!
Darth Vader by Charles Soule Omni is coming soon ! It wasnt released when this vid came out
This is a great video. Just read the Vader omnibus and you did not lie.
AWESOME video! Thanks for clearing up everything.
THANK YOU! Great video 😊

This video was so insanely helpful thank you
Really really helpful as I’m making my way through a lot of the books and comics and even some of the EU stories
@The Omnibus Collector Excellent job, bro! BIG THANKS!😊👍🏻❤
I just want to point out that there are only 8 oneshots in each "Age of" book (9 if you count the "Special").

Great job. I really need it to start collection Star wars
I just thought to myself - I wonder if The Omnibus Collector has a video on Star Wars comics. Sure enough...

I would love one day that marvel will publish a Palpatine comic book miniseries or even ongoing series.
I love the Luke and Mara Jade story. Is there a book for Mara Jade that collects all her appearances?
Great stuff....super informative and helpful!
Great list! I'm sure you've gotten this but you missed a few one-shots and I believe the star wars adventure series is also considered canon

Nope

Keep it up man 💯
This doesn't make sense I thought there was no big chronological order with the canon star wars comics released by Marvel?
