VIktor staged a coup and made the laws himself to the point where he could rewrite history, but he seemed answerable to the council no matter how many times they were destroyed. He basically made the laws and rules and was powerful enough but got trapped by them in his own mind. Victor is without a doubt the most iconic antagonist in the Underworld Franchise. Not just because he is in more than one movie. But his performance by Bill Nighy is just fantastic.
WHAT’S THIS RUCKUS! Bill Nighy’s portrayal of Viktor is one of the best, if not the best, vampires in cinema history. I would love to see a film with more backstories of Viktor & the other elders. The book Blood Enemy would be great material to adapt in to a film or series. That could be a start to a revival of the Underworld franchise.
When you consider Feudal society, it makes sense that Viktor was obsessed with bloodlines since that was one of the ways rank was achieved when Viktor was alive. He behaved just like a feudal warlord which is what he was when he was turned.
I think Victors obsession with the "blood line" simply stems from the fact that he had seen what Werewolves where capable of (they are savage beasts) AND the fact that he was of noble blood originally. As was Markus, and Alexander before him. The vampires Victor created where obviously of his court and his generals etc etc. (Sure.... William too, but he was a mad beast....) And well, he knew Lycans where stronger than Vampires (William WAS more powerful than Markus etc). The blending of the species would be a threat to his own power.
@@vhagarcaraxes absolutely. We've seen that it takes a lycan of serious size or amazing capabilities to even be able to hang against selene even in the first movie. It’s more likely that the elders can control their blood memories only showing what they want the others to see when awakening

Here's something I never thought of before. If Marcus told Viktor that all the vampire descendants would die if he died, why have William locked away and not just kill him, then lock Marcus away so he couldn't commit suicide and "end the line"(so Viktor thought). It would kill 2 birds with one stone, getting rid of Marcus and also destroying the warewolf bloodline. It would have been a great strategic move because when he killed William, as we know, it wouldn't have killed the warewolf bloodline so he would know that killing Marcus wouldn't end the vampire bloodline. It's a win-win move.
Good theory but victor has a reason to be cautious because werewolves and vampires are different and have different mechanisms about themselves. While killing William may not end the werewolves bloodline maybe killing Marcus will end the vampire lineage.
2 big reasons ego and fun, victor quickly realized he could have fun with lycons,i mean without lycans there is nothing to hunt for sport because humans are to weak for a challange. so for fun he experimented to see what he could do with lycans and he found out they where good slaves,as for not sealing marcus away wel i dont know maybe dispite everything he grew a respect for marcus?
Victor was jus too scared to do put killing William or Marcus to the test..the movies showed this..tho he had good reason not to..he needed his daytime slaves in the werewolves and then eventually lycans..bt also he hated the thought of losing his power and influence as top dawg.. I mean the army was his ..he wouldn't want everyone thinking Marcus was his superior..I mean he literally betrayed Marcus wen they caught William because he had his own ambitions..and all the "malicious lies" he had tanis exiled for were actually true..so victor was running one the biggest cover ups in the underworld series.. don't get me wrong I do love him bt I hate him at the same time..a very well play antagonist..
My favorite part of this series is when it's revealed that Kraven lied to save his own skin. Like you guys are surprised that the dude named coward, turns out to be, in fact, a coward? No wander y'all can't win a, at times, severely one-sided war. Morons. Like Viktor should have taken that tattooed piece of skin and been like, 'Where the rest at?' It's not like werewolves disintegrate upon death like vampires, who also only do that if its ultraviolet light. And if the thought is that he barely escaped with his life after his whole squad got wiped, then why not take the head or the whole arm. Taking off a small pierce of skin seems like it'd be harder and more time consuming.
This was an Incredible Masterpiece Origin Video for My All Time Favorite Character and Antagonist’s in The Underworld Film Series. Viktor is My Second Favorite Role for Bill Nighy. Viktor may have been a Villain at Heart but he does have the ability to Love and his relationship with Sonja and Selene is one of The Reasons why I Love Victor’s Character. Bill Nighy’s Performance as Davy Jones is The Reason I got into The Underworld Films and his Performance Didn’t Disappoint and he Truly Carried this Franchise on his Back.
But how "Amelia" an elder vampire got easily slaughtered by only a couple of wolves.????. If victor was there lm sure he would have slaughtered them instead...
No one help them during the ambushed since there’s a conspiracy going between Lucian and Kraven to assasinate the vampire coven. They were only left with body guards and swarmed by the Lycans and vampire traitors alike.
One thing I could only wish to Viktor is he would be like Prince Vlad of Dracula Untold, accepting immortality in hope to protect his family against those who desire to take away from him. I appreciate your video and studying his origins alike other Underworld characters, thank you!
Viktor literally brought the whole destruction of the Corvinus. Markus was so blinded by his brothers affliction that he let Viktor roam free and do whatever he wanted. While he was making sense, he was making things move the way he wanted, not the way that Markus wanted. Sure, hes a stickler to rules but he often breaks em. An example of his cunning was his reign. During his reign, he deals with the Council and making it seem like everyone's voices are heard and yet he creates his entire sect as people loyal to him. During the 2nd movie, it was only then where they reached a stalemate but cam easily remedied if Sonja wasnt screwing around. So all in all, he controlled everything and was just appeasing Markus whenever he bugs with about saving William (which prompted him on creating a prison for him). So many covenants that were free from Viktor's grasp that weren't so awful and the vampires weren't seen as villains but rather peculiar beings or to be hunted down for experiments. So he truly is a plain old villain but his complexity makes him appear that he has depth but he's rather 1 dimensional.
I mean... Victor wanting to keep William in prison forever, while keeping his kind, vampires, going on to prosper... seems like a great idea. The werewolves were uncontrollable, and infectious immortal beings. Get rid of them
Werewolves were that way was until Lucian was born and the Lycan breed was created. There was no need to keep them as prisoners since they still had their human intelligence and did hurt anyone unless they choose to. Lycans had full control over their actions. Victor just looked at all breeds of werewolves as inferior and of course there’s a chance he can be overthrown with the lycans being free so he kept them as slaves.
Bro viktor is the strongest non enhanced vampire in the franchise bro the guy held a lycan by its throat without no effort and dispatched with just a punch and a sword to the chest
He's got that I'm better than you thing to a fine point. I fully believe him to be a king descended from kings. A great and obvious choice by the film makers. 👍👍
What I'd be interested in learning, is what happened to the rest of the true werewolves after rise of the lycans. Presumably they were hunted into extinction by death dealers and maybe even some intrepid human hunters, but (at least in the films, never checked out any other media) its never truly explained.
In the first movie ( the best) Victor was seemingly invincible antagonist. A menacing threat. Being MUCH older than any lycan he should be. Then in Rise of the Lucan’s he suddenly nerfed seemingly to make Lucius the hero more likable to the audience. This was $#&*. Seeing Lucius fight and struggle against a overwhelming foe is much more dramatic than the underwhelming fight at the end where Lucius is not only unafraid of but convincingly defeats him in a one on one battle which he would never attempt in the first movie. Unless he wasn’t expecting to survive.
The collars were around their neck to prevent transformations, they wouldn't kill the Lycan, they'd weaken them. Hence why the Death Dealers shoot silver darts into Lucien's back.
i just think Viktor was more powerful than Marcus himself. Marcus was having some difficulties while fighting Michael, they were both already hybrids. while Viktor fighting Michael,he didn't even have anydifficulties
The reason why Victor had more success than Marcus was Victor had many times more fighting experience then Marcus Marcus was in Slumber for most of that time and Michael was still new to his hybrid abilities and was a fighter by any means as trained as Victor

Do Sonja next! I would love to know more about her!
Wasn't the biggest fan of the movies, but Viktor was always my favourite character (undoubtedly helped by Bill Nighy's brilliant performance).
8:29 I do love Amelia's style... she's a total vampire queen!
Great video, please do one about Amelia. 🙏🏻
🔥🔥 just subscribed awesome video
Thanks really appreciate that! 🙏
Back in my day you had like 1k subscribers and we walked uphill to and from Underworld school. Times were tough, but we got by.
Best bad ass moment when viktor took out lycan by the throat in first movie
This was a great breakdown! I learned so much
"Underworld" is an amazing and very engaging saga. I love the movies that came out of it!
I feel that true fans of underworld were let down bc there still remains so many unanswered questions
The actor who plays Viktor “Bill Nighy” is also a talented comedic actor. Talk about range.
I just subscribed to your channel bro…I like how you brake down one of my favorite franchises Underworld…keep it going my dude🤙🏽👊🏽👊🏽
Thank you really appreciate it! 🙏
Why did they not just give Amelia blood? I would have liked to see her put up a fight she's a elder and sucks she died like that she is my favorite
The actor was Hungarian and didn’t really speak English
No one ever sees her in action so how do you know how badass she is
But how "Amelia" an elder vampire got easily slaughtered by only a couple of wolves.????. If victor was there lm sure he would have slaughtered them instead...
No one help them during the ambushed since there’s a conspiracy going between Lucian and Kraven to assasinate the vampire coven. They were only left with body guards and swarmed by the Lycans and vampire traitors alike.
Viktor is my favorite character 💪😎
This guy, if you add some insanity to his voice narrating the video, it would sound exactly like Zanny's voice, also, love the video
I've been looking for something like this to explain it in more details
Luv the video 👏👏👏👏
Not until the werewolves learned to channel their rage they couldn't transform at will .Lycan is another term for werewolf
One thing I could only wish to Viktor is he would be like Prince Vlad of Dracula Untold, accepting immortality in hope to protect his family against those who desire to take away from him. I appreciate your video and studying his origins alike other Underworld characters, thank you!
Victor is the king of the vampire Elders.
Michael Sheen aka Lucian (Lycan leader) got so fed up, he switched sides and films and became Aro who is head of the Vampire's in Twilight LOL
Viktor was a G.O.A.T period.
Question why do these characters make prisons with keys. Like I wouldn’t have made William’s prison openable.
Just stubled across your channel, great work. You've gotton a subscriber. I wish you all the best with you channel. Well wishes from Ireland 🇮🇪
Bro viktor is the strongest non enhanced vampire in the franchise bro the guy held a lycan by its throat without no effort and dispatched with just a punch and a sword to the chest
Bill Nighy portrayed a formidable regal, ancient vampire exquisitely
Great video 👍🏽
He's got that I'm better than you thing to a fine point. I fully believe him to be a king descended from kings. A great and obvious choice by the film makers. 👍👍
They need to make a movie about The Vampire and Lycan war. BOOM!
A history of the different covens, and whether they had elders, would be interesting.
Viktor didnt need to be massive with muscle, his dominance was VERY clear without even needing say anything at all
What I'd be interested in learning, is what happened to the rest of the true werewolves after rise of the lycans. Presumably they were hunted into extinction by death dealers and maybe even some intrepid human hunters, but (at least in the films, never checked out any other media) its never truly explained.
The need to make a movie about Marcus’s time as the ruler.
Fact these elders lived so long. Survive so many battles, then to die so easily from selene and here doggy daddy
Victor is the best modern example of a true Ventrue. I mourn him.
It’s strange that the scientist achieved his goal after getting his face punched open.
Tenis is another character who is interesting being he was the Historian. Could you do a video on him ?
FYI: Bill Nighy, who played Viktor, also voiced Grandsanta in Arthur Christmas.
The collars were around their neck to prevent transformations, they wouldn't kill the Lycan, they'd weaken them. Hence why the Death Dealers shoot silver darts into Lucien's back.
Imagine having Vincent van goh turning you into a vampire.
i just think Viktor was more powerful than Marcus himself.
Dude was pretty boss.
My favourite too, his acting is fantabulous
Could you do Lena? I like the concept of her character, and there really isn’t much to go on canonically.
Yes I will definitely make a video on her soon 🙏
Viktor was basically a Lannister. Lol
A Half vampire can live form when it’s bitten say at 26 years old, can live up to 7,000 years and because it’s a half vampire and not full, it can go into the sun and not be affected.(unless it’s killed and disposed of properly it can live longer) A basic vampire can live from The time it is bitten say at 26 years old, can live up to 55,000 thousand years old.(unless it’s killed and disposed of properly it can live longer) A true vampire from when it’s been say at 26 human years old, can live up to 210,000 years old.
