I completely agree. Not only did he do a fantastic job playing Lucian but he also brought a lot of emotional weight to the role. With that being said, I also wanted more of Micheal Corvin’s character as the Hybrid. The first two films made him out to be this epic character only for him to basically get killed off screen without the actual actor playing him. What a total waste! If an actor doesn’t want to continue with a role then I’m all for recasting, especially when their story isn’t finished being told. Needless to say, the Underworld franchise has definitely made some pretty big mistakes and it’s a shame the later films don’t stack up to the first three.

Fun fact. William the brother whom became the first werewolf was bitten by a RABID wolf. So in reality his aggression comes from rabies. Fascinating. Of course Alexander his father said William was prone to rage and bloodlust before his transformation.
I am glad you mentioned this cause its true. What Victor never mention to any of his coven members is that werewolves and vampires are family members to an extent(through William and Marcus) Tanis the record keeper is one of the few elders that knew of this (but of course Marcus kills him)

I own every single Underworld film, and I want ONE more. Rise of the Lycans was an amazing story, easily one of my favorites in the series. I think Amelia deserves a storyline, hopefully she gets it.
Lucian was one of my favorite characters. His motivation wasn't immediately apparent. But once it is revealed, he was sympathetic and understandable. The prequel was so good thanks to Michael Sheen's performance.
You should DEFINITELY do ‘Being Human’. Such a unique concept for a show. I remember watching it air when I was in high school and then it being unexpectedly cancelled

As Lucian said to victor just before his death. He may be dying but his will is done regardless. This could apply twofold. Not only did Lucian create a hybrid but he had Selene a close daughter figure who loved a Lycan do it. (history repeating itself but the doomed couple winning in the end.)

My favorite is so hard to pick between the first and third underworld movies. I agree with you that Lucian is probably the most interesting character and that Michael Sheen knocked it out of the park. But Selene is also a complete badass and I just love whenever she is on screen too in the first one. They did such a good job in the first movie with having Lucian framed as the villain and Viktor as a hero while slowly flipping it as you learn more and more. Shout out to the line "As I am forced to do yet again" the way Bill Nighy says it is so weighted, and once you know everything it is so full of meaning.
Really nice little Lore video. Although they had some weaker moments, the Underworld moves were generally pretty good. Michael Sheen is a great actor who really chooses some diverse roles. He is far from the most physically imposing man in the world, but from his first moment on screen he had presence. On a slight side note, I love the scene where he chases down the car in the first film. Such a well-constructed scene.

I just found it so absurd that Viktor, a vampire elder with the ability to access blood memories, didn’t even try to drink Kraven’s blood to verify and confirm Lucian’s death. You bite your own daughter to verify your suspicions against Lucian but don’t do the same to Kraven to verify his claim, like make it make sense lmao. That’s one of the things i never understood throughout the series.
Viktor is an hypocrite in all means. Remember he punished Lucian for litterally saving every vampire And his own daughter just because he transformed. And then wondered why he betrayed him lol
Kraven makes it seem that he kept the secrets of Vicktors lust for human blood because he couldn’t follow his own rules. I’m assuming that’s why he didn’t immediately just drink his blood because he knows kraven can expose him too. Also, we know from the second underworld that the main reason selene’s family is killed is because her dad created the prison where William is, so it was more cover up than a massacre that Selene was led to believe. My thing with Kraven is why didn’t he just tell Selene that viktor was a hypocrite that would’ve immediately put her on his side but he too starts playing the “let’s hate the Lycans” thing even though he had a treaty with their leader. Kraven in my opinion clearly had a weird obsession with controlling Selene and taming her, that was his downfall. Viktor’s downfall was thinking that Selene would hesitate to kill him like Sonja did.
One of my fav movies ever. Also idk if it checks out, but in the den the werewolf facing Lucian bowed his head i think, that would mean recognising someone as superior/alpha in canine language, would explain why they retreated in the woods and came when he summoned. Just my thoughts tho 🤷♀️
Please review on the Vampires from "Abraham Lincoln Vampire hunter" both from the movie and the Novel. The Vampires here can survive in sunlight while bears the same fatal weakness as werewolves when being hit with silver weapons
Abraham Lincoln was a great vampire movie weaving the mythology into American history. It was surprisingly well done and deserves a sequel and trilogy.
I've always liked Michael Sheen as Lucian. Even at first when I thought he was a bad guy, I thought he was very mannerable, but firmly profession. I forever have that seen where he's shouting at other lycans in the subway tunnel burnt in my brain the first film and rise of the lycans are my favourites I love all of them and I was disappointed with blood wars that they killed Michael as in awakening it seemed they weren't far behind, and could have called out to catch up to him I thought Michael would have seen Selene through their daughters eyes, and stopped running before I watched blood wars I imagined the 3 of the along with David battling their way to safety I thought the movie was okay but it wasn't what I expected or thought it would be though I do love that Selene kicked ass in the movie that made me happy despite wanting the movie to have played out differently to what I wanted to be

Exactly, idk why they killed off Michael when they could have made it that he survived since he was arguably the strongest then to where his blood did such wonders in the last movie, but I guess they did that to push the story forward.
if you're taking video games suggestions, i would recommend the Legacy of Kain franchise. Even if you didn't played the games, the cinematics are good movies on their own.
I actually enjoyed Underworld Evolution the most. They focused heavily on the hybrids - which at the time was really new and interesting. The first movie and Rise of the Lycans are close seconds. Thanks for the great video!

I always thought that it was dope that neither Lucian or Sonja had the Corvinus gene and were capable of making a hybrid. They'd been secretly married for years, and obviously had been having sex multiple times. As they believed Vamps and Lycans weren't capable of reproducing, Lucian was clearly hitting Sonja raw😂 After enough times, the genes finally started to vibe lol.
Sonja was literally born of 2 vamps, this universe has vampires who didnt die to turn and lucian was born from a werewolf so hes obv a living organism, they never thought the species couldnt reproduce, they just didnt know the two species could since the rabbies in williams blood lines go after and destroy the vamp virus cells

Interestingly it sounds like sex can mix vampires and lycans. Bc Victor's daughter wasn't a Corvinus and Lucian wasn't either but they still were going to have a hybrid baby. Unless theres something missing. I he being bitten by both and need to be a Corvinus by the movie sounds like having a baby the old fashion way did the same.
I have a feeling its to do with both being pure bloods and being born as their species so I guess there would be mutation happening and tbh he's the only werewolf at the time to have the human form to really try to have sex with a vampire

Even going so far as to say Lucian's just gen 2 and Sonja's only half 1 (since I doubt her mother was bitten by Marcus) it leaves them immensely pure. Right circumstances
I imagine Michael Sheen would enjoy Lucian way more. I imagine as an actor with roles you play, having backstory and lore would make it more enjoyable. It has more of an impact. From what my girlfriend tells me there's so much backstory and lore in the Twighlight books. It actually sounds cool. But since there's not a whole lot in the movies, I'd say Underworld has my bet for what he liked playing the leader for. Homeboy even got his own origin story.

I think it would've been cool if Lucian and Selene teamed up. Viktor killed people who were close to them. Maybe a "what if" scenario where Selene goes through a redemption arc and maybe show a more human side to the Lycans. But I can't blame humanity completely for wanting to exterminate lycans and vampires. Neither side seemed to care about humans outside of food or repopulation.

The people starting those conflicts are almost always sheltered from there own decisions. Yes which is why alexander the oldest immortal and the most human one, by the end of his life is so exhausted and worn down. He's constantly keeping his own sons from consuming every human on earth and there after starving themselves. So much so he decides to finally let markus kill him. But contrary to the vampire and werewolf elders expectations alexander wasn't protecting the humans from them, he was protecting them from the humans. Which fits with his nature as a protective but misguided parent. If he had let the humans and vampires/werewolves fight each other things would have eventually settled into a peaceful stalemate. The lycans don't want to be slaves, the vampires would have been humbled by the humans, and the humans insatiable appetite for death would finally be reigned in by their immortal opposites.

I honestly love the character Lucian, and because of this movie I was always obsessed with werewolves. Something about them seemed both terrifying yet marvelous, and I've always envied how the Lycans portrayed raw strength. Lucian to me was a great character, with a tragic past and great charisma. I hated seeing his character die, and I didn't like that the fourth and fifth movies portrayed Lycans as evil when we know the truth about them and the treatment of their kind. I truly wished the last two movies focused on humans vs immortals rather then the typical big evil lycan vs Selene
I always thought that “lycan” was just a word that people used to sound smart when talking about werewolves to sound smart. I didn’t know they’re technically different.
Strongest due to purity, not far removed from William, and age. Add that he's actually immensely skilled and yeah as far as lycans go he's the strongest, although I think the transformed Quint would have more physical strength due to nonstop juicing.
Honestly, it would have been great to get a movie about Lucian between the events of RoTL and the first film. I also love the meta irony of Michael Sheen and Kate Beckinsale being together at the time. Recall that Viktor turned Selene because she reminded him so much of his daughter Sonja, who Lucian had loved. It could have been a great story of Selene gradually starting to understand that everything she was led to believe was wrong the more she and Lucian met. Maybe having Lucian save Selene's life and she zips her lips about him still being about. Granted, the first film was still awesome (especially the extended unrated cut I have), but I feel like there could have been more interesting directions that could be taken. In a lot of ways, Selene's story is kind of a mirror of Lucian. Lucian fell in love with a vampire, nearly created a hybrid, only to lose his beloved AND her unborn child. Selene's whole life was devoted to the hunt, until she fell in love with a lycan and successfully created a hybrid and then killing Viktor. And I agree that Blood Wars was utter garbage and actively insulting. Marius is not Lucian and trying to MAKE HIM like Lucian only highlights how terrible he is as a leader.
Michael sheen loves to ham it up, he probably loves Lucian and Aro equally. Kate Beckinsale, although we all love her in these movies (can't deny she's hot) was typecast
I've always felt that Lucian's unborn hybrid child was a plot whole. Neither of them are descendants of Covinus, so a hybrid shouldn't have been possible. Marcus, Michael, and Eve were all in the bloodline; and Selene was given the blood so that makes sense. Lucian was an anomaly, so Sonja had the Corvinus gene? Using that logic, obtaining Amelia's blood should have helped in Lucian's experiments. Maybe I'm wrong though.
Could be be that the fetus was able to handle both viruses since it’s built into its dna. Assuming the Vampire and Lucan viruses infect their sex cells which they probably do
We don't know what would have happened to it had it been born, could be stillborn for all we know, she was killed before she was even showing so I would say its not a plot hole as it was never born.
I'm guessing its bc there both pure bloods and obvs lucian is the first werewolf to have human form amd be born a lycan to really have sex with a vampire to see if I can be mixed that way

To be honest i loved all the Underworld movies, Blood Wars included. My favorite characters are Lucian, Selene, Marcus, Viktor, Michael and Raze respectively.
One of my favourite guilty pleasures, Lucian is just so damn awesome. I’m currently reading through the novelisation, I have uploaded a few chapters so far on my channel if anyone is interested.
The 1st 3 movies are fantastic. Part II is my fave bc Michael plays a large role along with Marcus. Only thing missing would have been a battle between Viktor and Marcus. 😎👍

I think there is most likely a chance that Lucian is like Jason or micheal myers. He will somehow be back. Just like you learned how Lucian was still alive despite craven supposedly killing him. It makes you wonder if a Lycan could have got his body off the ship.

I still think that, had Lucian lived, Markus would be easy to talk to since William was the First Werewolf. All Markus ever wanted was just freedom for William. The Lycan-Vampire War was only really ever Victor's mess.

One of my fav movies ever. Also idk if it checks out, but in the den the werewolf facing Lucian bowed his head i think, that would mean recognising someone as superior/alpha in canine language, would explain why they retreated in the woods and came when he summoned. Just my thoughts tho 🤷♀️
Please review on the Vampires from "Abraham Lincoln Vampire hunter" both from the movie and the Novel. The Vampires here can survive in sunlight while bears the same fatal weakness as werewolves when being hit with silver weapons

Abraham Lincoln was a great vampire movie weaving the mythology into American history. It was surprisingly well done and deserves a sequel and trilogy.

I've always liked Michael Sheen as Lucian. Even at first when I thought he was a bad guy, I thought he was very mannerable, but firmly profession. I forever have that seen where he's shouting at other lycans in the subway tunnel burnt in my brain the first film and rise of the lycans are my favourites I love all of them and I was disappointed with blood wars that they killed Michael as in awakening it seemed they weren't far behind, and could have called out to catch up to him I thought Michael would have seen Selene through their daughters eyes, and stopped running before I watched blood wars I imagined the 3 of the along with David battling their way to safety I thought the movie was okay but it wasn't what I expected or thought it would be though I do love that Selene kicked ass in the movie that made me happy despite wanting the movie to have played out differently to what I wanted to be
I also always remembered that scene of lucian yelling at the lycans! And I agree about blood wars, I don’t hate it just wasn’t what I thought it would be
Exactly, idk why they killed off Michael when they could have made it that he survived since he was arguably the strongest then to where his blood did such wonders in the last movie, but I guess they did that to push the story forward.

I actually enjoyed Underworld Evolution the most. They focused heavily on the hybrids - which at the time was really new and interesting. The first movie and Rise of the Lycans are close seconds. Thanks for the great video!

wait, in the first movie Lycans were bad guys? What a hell was I on when I watched it. I never for once thought vampires were good in any scene.
I always thought that it was dope that neither Lucian or Sonja had the Corvinus gene and were capable of making a hybrid. They'd been secretly married for years, and obviously had been having sex multiple times. As they believed Vamps and Lycans weren't capable of reproducing, Lucian was clearly hitting Sonja raw😂 After enough times, the genes finally started to vibe lol.
Sonja was literally born of 2 vamps, this universe has vampires who didnt die to turn and lucian was born from a werewolf so hes obv a living organism, they never thought the species couldnt reproduce, they just didnt know the two species could since the rabbies in williams blood lines go after and destroy the vamp virus cells

I would argue that even in human form Lycans are as strong and as fast as vampires as we never actually see vampires overpower them in human form except for elders

Interestingly it sounds like sex can mix vampires and lycans. Bc Victor's daughter wasn't a Corvinus and Lucian wasn't either but they still were going to have a hybrid baby. Unless theres something missing. I he being bitten by both and need to be a Corvinus by the movie sounds like having a baby the old fashion way did the same.
I have a feeling its to do with both being pure bloods and being born as their species so I guess there would be mutation happening and tbh he's the only werewolf at the time to have the human form to really try to have sex with a vampire
@@iwanwillis1670 Yeah it's probably the purity factor. Lucian could be a pureblooded gen 1 if we assume his mother was bitten by William, and Sonja's pureblooded gen 1 thanks to Victor. Even going so far as to say Lucian's just gen 2 and Sonja's only half 1 (since I doubt her mother was bitten by Marcus) it leaves them immensely pure. Right circumstances

I imagine Michael Sheen would enjoy Lucian way more. I imagine as an actor with roles you play, having backstory and lore would make it more enjoyable. It has more of an impact. From what my girlfriend tells me there's so much backstory and lore in the Twighlight books. It actually sounds cool. But since there's not a whole lot in the movies, I'd say Underworld has my bet for what he liked playing the leader for. Homeboy even got his own origin story.
Easily my favorite character from the Underworld universe. Shame we didn’t get to see more of him. Also, that blade he uses under his trench coat is pretty badass!
I think it would've been cool if Lucian and Selene teamed up. Viktor killed people who were close to them. Maybe a "what if" scenario where Selene goes through a redemption arc and maybe show a more human side to the Lycans. But I can't blame humanity completely for wanting to exterminate lycans and vampires. Neither side seemed to care about humans outside of food or repopulation.
Well they know they obviously can’t hunt humans to extinction or anything because they’d all die so they do seem to care somewhat more than just food ya know?

@@Kibatsume1 99% of wars are fought for resources or innovation. Mostly by the ruling class. Almost all soldiers and civilians killed in combat or genocide never had a choice in the matter. The people starting those conflicts are almost always sheltered from there own decisions.

Yes which is why alexander the oldest immortal and the most human one, by the end of his life is so exhausted and worn down. He's constantly keeping his own sons from consuming every human on earth and there after starving themselves.
So much so he decides to finally let markus kill him.
But contrary to the vampire and werewolf elders expectations alexander wasn't protecting the humans from them, he was protecting them from the humans. Which fits with his nature as a protective but misguided parent.
If he had let the humans and vampires/werewolves fight each other things would have eventually settled into a peaceful stalemate. The lycans don't want to be slaves, the vampires would have been humbled by the humans, and the humans insatiable appetite for death would finally be reigned in by their immortal opposites.

I honestly love the character Lucian, and because of this movie I was always obsessed with werewolves. Something about them seemed both terrifying yet marvelous, and I've always envied how the Lycans portrayed raw strength. Lucian to me was a great character, with a tragic past and great charisma. I hated seeing his character die, and I didn't like that the fourth and fifth movies portrayed Lycans as evil when we know the truth about them and the treatment of their kind. I truly wished the last two movies focused on humans vs immortals rather then the typical big evil lycan vs Selene

Strongest due to purity, not far removed from William, and age. Add that he's actually immensely skilled and yeah as far as lycans go he's the strongest, although I think the transformed Quint would have more physical strength due to nonstop juicing.

Honestly, it would have been great to get a movie about Lucian between the events of RoTL and the first film. I also love the meta irony of Michael Sheen and Kate Beckinsale being together at the time. Recall that Viktor turned Selene because she reminded him so much of his daughter Sonja, who Lucian had loved. It could have been a great story of Selene gradually starting to understand that everything she was led to believe was wrong the more she and Lucian met. Maybe having Lucian save Selene's life and she zips her lips about him still being about. Granted, the first film was still awesome (especially the extended unrated cut I have), but I feel like there could have been more interesting directions that could be taken. In a lot of ways, Selene's story is kind of a mirror of Lucian. Lucian fell in love with a vampire, nearly created a hybrid, only to lose his beloved AND her unborn child. Selene's whole life was devoted to the hunt, until she fell in love with a lycan and successfully created a hybrid and then killing Viktor. And I agree that Blood Wars was utter garbage and actively insulting. Marius is not Lucian and trying to MAKE HIM like Lucian only highlights how terrible he is as a leader.
i think that Marius could have been great villain if done better and not trying to copy Lucian

I've always felt that Lucian's unborn hybrid child was a plot whole. Neither of them are descendants of Covinus, so a hybrid shouldn't have been possible. Marcus, Michael, and Eve were all in the bloodline; and Selene was given the blood so that makes sense. Lucian was an anomaly, so Sonja had the Corvinus gene? Using that logic, obtaining Amelia's blood should have helped in Lucian's experiments. Maybe I'm wrong though.
Could be be that the fetus was able to handle both viruses since it’s built into its dna. Assuming the Vampire and Lucan viruses infect their sex cells which they probably do
We don't know what would have happened to it had it been born, could be stillborn for all we know, she was killed before she was even showing so I would say its not a plot hole as it was never born.

To be honest i loved all the Underworld movies, Blood Wars included. My favorite characters are Lucian, Selene, Marcus, Viktor, Michael and Raze respectively.
One of my favourite guilty pleasures, Lucian is just so damn awesome. I’m currently reading through the novelisation, I have uploaded a few chapters so far on my channel if anyone is interested.

I think there is most likely a chance that Lucian is like Jason or micheal myers. He will somehow be back. Just like you learned how Lucian was still alive despite craven supposedly killing him. It makes you wonder if a Lycan could have got his body off the ship.
