Hi Joelster, those frame rates were a bug... It runs super smooth now on the Series S. If the game starts to lag, just hit the Xbox round button on the remote, and click back into the game, and it should be cleaned up... It is strange but it fixes it...

I've had 27" 1080p and 27" 1440p monitors and the biggest difference I noticed is sharper text with the 1440p. When games are actually running I don't notice much of a difference. Though I guess if you plastered your face right on the screen you may.
It's there on the Series S. You just need to make sure you bought the correct version of the game and not the Xbox One version. I have the same monitor and it has the 120hz option with my Series S. Wasn't there when I had my One X and the same monitor despite the console supporting 120hz.

Hey dude. I bought 3 different monitors, the benq ex2780q is by far the best! For cold war its insane. 120fps, VRR and 1440p all enabled. Runs flawlessly, make sure to set AMA on the screen to 'premium' to ensure fastest response time
It has nothing to do with the monitor bro you have to go to settings and change it from 120 hrts to 60hrts then back to 120 it will fix it then you'll be able to play 1080p at 120 hrtz just fine give it a go
Hay, I have a Alienware AW3418HW with 160hz. In Xbox Series S menu i doesnt show me the option to go for 1080 120hz...do you know why? Do I need AMD Freesync?

It does work at 1440p@120hz with Variable Refresh Rate enabled. It's only downside in my opinion is the tilt only stand

You have the wrong version of cold war installed. You need to download the enhanced version
I did downloaded the enhanced version, including Ray-tracing but it didn't work on the SS.
Black ops Cold war is not compatible with 120fps on the series s. You can play warzone on it at 120fps but not cold war.

The Zowie XL2411P is capped at 60hz via HDMI. The newer model the XL2411K is capable of 120hz on the new consoles
