I wish I could find a review that gives any idea of what the black smearing situation is like with the VA model. I just returned an ex3203r (this panel's predecessor at 32 inches) due to AWFUL black smearing, but it was otherwise a great looking panel.
@@JustinReves Thank you. I may have to check one of these out. Smearing and backlight bleed are the only things that make me wary of getting a new VA panel. Though the glow that comes with IPS ends up being effectively the same issue as backlight bleed, so it's pretty much just the smearing/ghosting.
@@mushroomboxing Hey did you ever pick up one of the 2710r? I’m tempted to pick one up but I’m very concerned about there being smearing or ghosting issues since I’m currently using a 24 inch TN panel that has a faster response
Do you want to play 4K/60 or 1080/120hz? Those are the only two options. You need HDMI 2.1 for 4K/120hz and there’s only like 2-3 monitors on the planet plus a few TV’s that have HDMI 2.1.
@@saverio98 I don’t think Warzone supports 4K on PS5 as it’s a PS4 game but if it does, you have to change your PS5 from Performance Mode to Resolution Mode. That will prioritize 4K over 120hz.
so is there the possibility of downscaling with this monitor ex2710r? play at 1440p in 60hz and 1080p in 120hz? does ps5 support 1440p at 120hz? Se sei italiano, ho comprato questo monitor per la mia play..spero di aver fatto la scelta giusta. Mi puoi dire qualcosa in più se l'hai provato?
Mine doesn't have any issues with backlight bleeding - it looks great. But with monitors, every panel is unique and different. However, these are quality, high-end monitors. Much better chance of getting a good panel.
Hi Justin, I just bought today the EX2710Q and connected my PS5 to it. It is not upscaling the 1080p signal to 2k. You said it will do this in some comments. If I look up the resolution in the PS5 menu, it says always 1080p@120hz. Same if I look it up on the monitor OSD.
PS5 only supports 1080p or 4K output but the monitor IS upscaling it to 1440p unless you’ve got huge black bars around all 4 sides. If the image is filling the screen, the monitor is upscaling it.
@@JustinReves thanks for the quick answer. If I go to the resolution tab on my PS5 settings it gives me only three options as output 720, 1080p and 2160p. If I select the 2k resolution the output shows 4k@60hz. If I choose 1080p the output shows 1080p@120hz. Correct me if I am wrong, but this means in the second case that the monitor shows a 1080p resolution on 27 inches? But most confusing is the fact that the monitors own OSD shows 1080p@120hz as actual resolution. Please help.
@@Morpheus1987 The monitor will show on the OSD what signal its being sent from the source. So yes, you will only see either 1080p or 4K because that’s the only thing the PS5 will output. The monitor will either upscale the 1080p/120hz source to 1440p/120hz or downscale the 4K/60hz source to 1440p/60hz. A 4K image downscaled will look better than a 1080p upscaled but I like the extra refresh of 120hz so I play on mine at 1080p/120hz. Just for context, if the monitor didn’t scale the image, then the 1080p would only fill up the middle of the screen and be like 18” or the 27” screen or with the 4K, it would zoom in and cut off the extra pixels and that would be awful. So pretty much every monitor instead upscales or downscales to fill or shrink an image to fit.

I don't know what the flat one is like but the curved version is riddled with issues, dirty screen effect, backlight bleeding and God knows what else. I have returned 4.
It supports 4K input as well - so if you send it 4K it just downsamples to 1440p but lots of devices like the PS5 or a Roku stick support either 4K or 1080p so it’s important a monitor can accept 4K for more more resolution.
@@JustinReves it must do a good job then as I can't really see a difference between a native 4k monitor and my downsampled 1440p monitor which is very impressive
@@JohnJohn-pm9wq The colours on the two are almost identical in real life. Nice comparison, I have the 32-inch version of 10R, and I'm hoping you can help me with a issue I'm finding, the HDRI function will automatically turn on and off when for eg. if I was to watch a youtube video and put it in full screen then the HDR will switch to sRGB in some instances, and I have no way of just setting it to stay static because it will just change no matter what I choose. I do not want the HDR function at all because I find the sRGB to look better and I can choose the available presets such as RPG mode etc. is there any way to disable this HDR auto mode?

I still LOVE my 2710R. Literally playing on it right now. Don’t notice the curve. It looks amazing. 1440p for Series S is perfect.
I wish I could find a review that gives any idea of what the black smearing situation is like with the VA model. I just returned an ex3203r (this panel's predecessor at 32 inches) due to AWFUL black smearing, but it was otherwise a great looking panel.
Mine has no black smearing on my PS5.

Hi, why on ps5 on warzone with the EX2710Q it makes me play only in 1080p 120hz? I can't find the setting for 4k downscaled
Do you want to play 4K/60 or 1080/120hz? Those are the only two options. You need HDMI 2.1 for 4K/120hz and there’s only like 2-3 monitors on the planet plus a few TV’s that have HDMI 2.1.
@@JustinReves I want to play 4k 60hz with my 1440p monitor, but it only allows me to play in 1080p 120hz
@@saverio98 I don’t think Warzone supports 4K on PS5 as it’s a PS4 game but if it does, you have to change your PS5 from Performance Mode to Resolution Mode. That will prioritize 4K over 120hz.

Yes you should!
I'm about to send back my 4th monitor... Piece of s***.
@@aggieburger6681 is it ips or va?
@@Bee-eg4kl the current one is VA but I've had issues with both.
@@aggieburger6681 How's the last VA you bought, does it still have bleeding issue?
@@JustinReves thank you :)

I like the extra brightness of the R - both are 1ms panels and will perform exceptionally, but the extra contrast ratio and brightness of the R are going to make it easier to spot people in dark spaces.
If you had to pick one to work off your series X and ps5 which one would it be unsure of the curved panel love the look of it but don't know if I would prefer the flat one to game on ?

It's funny how you say the VA has deeper blacks while the IPS on this video looks darker
Yeah because the IPS version can’t get as bright as the VA panel - about a 100 nits darker. So overall, it’s a dimmer panel.
@@JustinReves But that faded out colors due to the brightness is difficult to digest when the IPS is much more vibrant and accurate
@@JohnJohn-pm9wq The colours on the two are almost identical in real life. The camera has to show one brighter and one darker unless I were to drop the brightness of the R but then that isn’t really fair. Cameras are so limited compared to human eyes.
