  • Trying to provide a better perspective of player desk practical reach and how different games fit on player desks
    “P tray” for those not familiar is the personal dice rolling tray from wyrmwood.
    I also forgot to highlight the different places for cup holders in the video (4min 50 sec in you can see this) including on the player desk rail, on the outside of the table by desk or my personal favorite on the shield apron out of the way entirely.

    Thank you so much for posting this really appreciate it, definitely helped to clear up my queries and concerns on the player desks (including how the cups impacted visibility and space in the vault the visual you had for this was perfect thanks)!

    Thanks for posting this. We didn’t pick up any player desks to go with our table but I’m still considering getting some in the next accessory wave. Seeing how they work with different games and how much they impact people reaching into the vault has been the biggest question mark for me. Still on the fence but now I have much better data to work with.

    Great video! Any chance you can tell me how many player desks would work on the long side of the medium table. In some views it looks like two, others three. Thanks!

      Two player desks can fit on a medium table on the long aprons and one on the short. A medium table can therefore fit a maximum of six player desks per table.

    Thank you for another incredibly useful video! This video has addressed my concerns with the viability of the player desk accessory and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to go over a wide variety of use cases and demonstrating various aspects of play.
    Your videos here are by far the best I have found for showcasing various aspects of the MGT and I extend my gratitude to you for listening to people that have questions and providing them with clear answers as it makes a world of difference when it comes to making an informed purchasing decision.
    In this video, I heard that you mentioned other people in the Discord using the component organizers to support a personal dice tray, I was wondering if the Discord in question is the Wyrmwood official Discord or if there is one tailored specifically to MGT. If it is the latter, is there any chance you would be willing to provide a link to said Discord?
    Regardless, once again thank you for the marvelous content that you have produced that has made a world of difference when looking at the MGT.

    Thanks for the videos. Isn't just better to play this kind of board game without the player desk? Just using the vault to put our board and tokens on it and play. Juste to know if it's confortable for arm and the back.

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure most games could be played just in vault. For some games that require a lot of space the player desk space could be helpful. Does everdell or wingspan need a desk? No. Could you use them? Yes. If you have a second game set up and need the vault space this could be useful.

    Is it possible to 'float' the player table on a 'lazy susan' type of setup , so that it pivots towards or away from you, as you desire. Then you can place teh player table to either side of you and tuck your chair in closer to the table?

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could always build something like this using the current mounting system but as it stands now no. Cool idea though!

    Thank you for posting. Also, i just remembered briefly sitting at MGT and Prophecy tables at PAX. The MGT seemed a little low. Do you have any issues with legs hitting under the table? How far is it from floor to bottom of the table?

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no issues with legs hitting at 5’10”. For dining height there is 25” of clearance before the apron hits your legs or chair armrests.

      @@tinaprice4948 with the gaming chairs I have I do bump into cup holders on occasion if they’re close to the chair space. I normally put them on the shield aprons (short side of table) which prevents this. That said, I’ve never bumped something fully off the rail onto the floor. Regarding the desks I did once bump it loose leaning into the table but it didn’t fall into the table it just got knocked loose pumping a few components. I don’t use the desks as much as I thought but I also don’t DnD as much as I used to either.

    Im going to placing my order soon. When do you think some would want a player desk vs placing their stuff in the vault in front of them. I can see gloom haven but like red dragon inn i can see the desk would be too much. I think im going to at least get one desk this round but debating on getting up to 4. Thoughts?

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have the ability to buy them I would recommend doing it now since prices are heavily anticipated to increase with 2.0 MGT. You can always look to return them if you don’t like them. I use vault 90% of time but the 10% we use desks it has been a huge help.

      @@ThePercOfGaming Good to know. What would you recommend for accessories and how many of each? Im getting a dark walnut table. I know you returned 2 things. Like for a medium or large table. I'm thinking so far, 1 to 4 player desks, the block insert for the table (forget the name), 2 ish of each cup holder size (want to see what size gets used more), then some token holders. Holding off on toppers for now.
      My group player a lot of red dragon inn, betrayal at house on hill, gloom haven when we can. Then a bunch of random games. With this table I was going to start some dnd games.

      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adventurestudios2121 I think it’s hard to recommend what somebody should buy since everyone has different financial circumstances but I think what you proposed sounds like a good setup! I for sure would say 1 cup holder per person minimum as we have used 2 per player at times (one for water and one for a beverage). Component holders are great and again would recommend 1-2 per person based off our use in most games.

    Hi would be nice to hear from someone who has had this table for while. Are you still happy with the size of the table? Im having a hard time of deciding if I should go up a size or of this is the perfect compromise. What Im afraid of is that a large table might feel to deep with any smaller games and with 2p games, that ppl will have to get up to reach into the middle of the vault or having to go around the table to see some game elements properly. I also prefer being closer to people on the opposite side. But Im also afraid that the medium table vault will feel to small and not practical over time. Whats your experience?

    Did you notice any wear or marks from the PD on the aprons?

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No and this is a serious concern of mine. Whenever I take mine off I make sure to use my hip so it slides out sideways vs pulling with my hands which may put pressure on the edge of the apron. So far so good with no visible damage. I’ll make sure to update if something changes.

    Would these games fit on a small table? Do you find that the desks help conserve space for the vault (not so many pieces or cards in the vault)

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only game that might not fit is scythe with the big board but the standard shouldn’t be a problem. The desks are nice for when you need extra space but are hard to reach around. I’m not sure how practical the hobby trays will be since I haven’t seen or used them but plan to try them out and am in wave one for accessories. I’ll post a video once they arrive. Sorry I don’t have a more conclusive opinion yet

    May I ask what size of table you have? I was curious about the Wargaming table vs say a medium or a large.
    EDIT: lol, nevermind, you said you have a Medium. Curious though, if you had the space/money, would you have preferred the Wargaming size with a larger vault space now that you've had the table for a while? Also, regarding games, Zombicide is somewhat of a modular map size game, don't suppose you have that to see how many map tiles might fit?

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So sorry for not responding sooner. 24” long x 14” wide x 2.25” deep according to both my measurements as well as confirming that aligns with what is listed on the Kickstarter campaign page. You can easily create wall hangers with just a little wood. I’m looking to make a video of this in the future. Another option is they fit in kallax shelves although it is a bit risky for damaging in my opinion. Currently I just lean 2 of them on their edge together against a wall on the floor. Any more and they could slide down and scratch the surface.
