    This is the kind of video I've been waiting for, for maybe a year now. Thank you so much! Also, you seem crafty! Would you be willing to take calipers/measurements of both the rail opening and the thickness of the accessories? I'm planning on making my own to save on costs but it would be awesome if I didn't have to wait until mine arrived (probably 6 months still) to start working on them.

      Rail I’m measuring 16.5mm
      Accessories I’m measuring 16.1mm
      Good luck making your own accessories and glad you found the video helpful!

    Just got our table last week and can confirm the variation you mentioned with the espresso. Our table itself is almost a black and the accessories tend to show more brown. All looks very nice together.

    Been researching for the new Kickstarter like crazy and this video has been super helpful! It was especially nice to get an idea of how my Padauk dice tray/GM Screen would contrast with a Walnut table.

    Great video. Must say I love the consistent variation of walnut. Personally the one I would choose if I could afford it.
    Also, I think Wormwood should start offering multiple maple finishes, including something red and brown in addition to Expresso.

    Very helpful video. I´m in international wave so the pledgemanager closes next week for me but I will probably get a Tavern Elm Medium.

    Thanks for the video. Going to go with the black walnut for sure. I thought we would have to go with the tavern elm, but after this I think the I have to shell out the extra money for the walnut. It's about 1k more when you go with the wargaming size. Ouch

    Thanks for the comparisons! For the older piece of padauk that is brown now - I take it that is unfinished? Do you think a finished piece of padauk would be that brown after 10 years or would it maintain more red still?

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would still turn that brown regardless of finish over time. I will say I’m not 100% on the age but if you’re wondering how many years till it turns brown I’d consider the 10 years a rough estimate since it was given to me by family who had it for some time in their garage and couldn’t state exact age (same for aged purpleheart piece).

    As Wyrmwood's MGT 2.0 gets closer and closer, I find myself still loving the idea of a Padauk table. I just will I had a better idea what the finished table color would change to. Hard to find good examples on the internet. I do also like browns like the black walnut, but I sort of suspect the brown of aged Padauk may not look as nice.

      If you keep it out of direct sunlight that will help prolong the red-orange color a lot longer. I recommend joining this discord which has a channel of exotic wood table picture including padauk. Hopefully it gives you a better idea of what it would be like to see it new and you can ask for picture of one’s that are around a year old now: discord.gg/Rrq8XZpy

    These are really pretty, I'm not sure what I would make my table out of, I really like the more chocolate tones or the darker tones but I am also drawn to the Paduk and Purpleheart as well, it's too bad you can't mix the blends to make a gradient cause I'd love a dark wood base with a gradient of the paduk and purple heart. I'd say my favorite wood they have is Bolivian Rosewood :)

    • @GreatWhiteNorth
      @GreatWhiteNorth 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One thing I believe you can do is have a base colour for the table and get toppers of a different colour. You'd have to get a full set of toppers but you could mix and match in that way at least without having to buy a whole other table.

    Thank you for showing the 10 year old Purple Heart. I love the purple colour but would really be annoyed if it would turn another colour over 10 years compared to how much it costs. Thanks for stopping me making an error.

    If you were going to pick just one wood for all your accessories to go with your black walnut table, which would it be, and why?

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a really tough question…I personally love the way Padauk has such a distinct color as it makes a great conversation piece (most people think it is a stain) so I’d likely say Padauk. Only downside is the way it ages will take away some of the uniqueness of it but that depends on the light exposure. That said, wenge or maple both contrast really nicely. I’m not a fan of maple as I feel it looks cheap (like pine) so I’d say wenge as a close second because of the complimentary darker color. With ebony being available for a limited time I’d also be very curious how that wood looks although it will be super expensive.

    Hello,
    I’m debating heavily between black walnut, and padauk. I would for sure pick padauk but I’m worried about the aging color. Do you by chance have a idea how many years before it changes? Also is it a dull brown when it’s fully aged or more of a dark red?
    Thanks a lot.

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lot depends how much natural light it gets. If it will be in shade you should be good for a very long time (10+ years). If you’re going to have it I’m direct light daily it will be under that. I don’t have a solid answer beyond that so would advise caution if it’s in sunlight daily. It looks more brown than red when at its greatest change. Black walnut is beautiful but less uniform so you have to be ok with the character that comes with this choice (even more so with rustic walnut). Padauk will be a statement piece for sure but pictures of all padauk tables I’ve seen are striking. Just be ready to educate everybody who sees it that it isn’t stained. I get that all the time with my padauk and purpleheart items I own. Good luck and hope this helps!

    How has the black walnut held up for scratching? I'm awaiting my table and was a little concerned about this for the price of the table

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t had any scratches but I’ve also been very gentle with the table. I have a spare shield apron due to shipping damage. Maybe I can do some scratch tests and film it for another video. Anything you’re worried about causing scratches you’d like to see me test?

    • @eastwoodk
      @eastwoodk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThePercOfGaming Nothing in particular. I have game components like metal coins or sliding things across the table top which I was thinking about (my kids may do that). I didn't back the block holder for the topper pieces so I have just some concern about those scratching but think in general stacking those shouldn't create any major scratches.

    • @ThePercOfGaming
      @ThePercOfGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eastwoodk I would not advise stacking these without something protective in between. If you don’t have a topper block the use of packing sheets, quilts, etc in between would be critical to protecting them in my honest opinion. Several people in the discord who did not get the topper block have acknowledged they wish they got one (sorry I know that’s not what you want to hear but would rather give you time to plan ahead to protect your investment).
