Enjoyed your video, all the little details are much appreciated as i'm just getting started on the assembly of my 94 Sonoma although it already had a small block in it prior to my getting it. It's going to have a 399 stroker with a 4l80e and Quick Performance 9". Got it as a roller with fuel cell mounted and fuel lines run. Have everything to assemble just have to get my ass in gear.
Very cool swap. I love the truck. You don’t see too many people swapping small blocks into S10s anymore. Everything is LS this, LS that. I did an LS swap in my 67 Chevelle, but that little S10 is every bit as cool 👍
Nice job on the exhaust system , i would have been tempted to put in a X pipe , i have an X pipe in my Monte and it sounds pretty kool when the revs are up going through the gears. There is also a similar mandrel bent system kit on Amazon
great video! just got a quick question, if you were to put a bigger cam in and some performance mods should you still use the Th350 trans or woulds you opt for something different? I can't find any answers on what trans to use
The TH 350 is simple , it really depends on power levels and expectations , even with another 100 hp I would keep the the th 350 in the truck. Turbo 400 is stronger and no kick down cable , also a little bigger and heavier.
Just took it on a nice drive this morning. So far so good , 3.08 so it spins pretty hard. Have an 8.8 explorer diff to cut down when I have some time or before this one goes hopefully. Thanks for watching.
@@jaysgarage3616 I would put a different gear in it or locker 8.5 Camaro would be better but lot mods I'll probably be working on a 2 gen Sonoma tomorrow but it has small gear it has 350 sbc but my self I got 89 S10 blazer I swap a junk 2.8 with 4.3 just had to couple mods with wiring harness with 700r4
With the 7.5 inch rear end taller gears (ie, 3.08, 2.73) are stronger and can take a real beating , taller gears are much stronger because the pinion gear is much bigger , the 4.11 (a gear u dont want to run on the street anyway) has a pinion more like a baby's fist and is more likely to strip itself or the crown , stay away from your lower gear ratios and don't worry about it , thats been my experience.... Krank-on !
I just did swap from 2.8 to 4.3 but cost bout same just couldn't find good 350 every time I did find 1 something was a matter with it so bought heathy 4.3 from c1500 just change manifolds and used same wiring just modded some wires
Did you use the stock Differential? I'm doing the same swap, but people say the differential will go out right away. Other say they've driven on the stock 10 bolt 7.5" with a 350 for years. I don't plan on beating mine up but want to do 4wd donuts in mud
I did , not a posi and spins easily so it should live for a while. I have an 8.8 diff I am going to have cut down at some point but the 7.5 is hanging in there!!
Hi im about to install my sbc in my 84 s10 with the same headers and trans you have an was wonder is there room to mount a cable shift conversion on the steering column to keep the factory column shift or do i have to go the route you did an convert it to a floor shift by the way awsome videos on this your like the only person on youtube that has videos on this an there awesome definitely gonna be a big help when i go to do mine
Hey Richard , I do not know if there would be room for this as the header is (was hitting the shift linkage) from the column. I appreciate the comment and thanks for watching. Let me know how it goes!
I think you laid down an excellent representation of everything you did , including parts it took to do the job . It looks super clean as well as functional. I have a two wheel drive blazer and I will use the videos and information you provided . I do have one question ?? Is there a reason you do not have your vacume advance hooked up ?
Thanks for watching and the comments! I hope your project goes well. This is a heavier spring on the advance side so I choose more initial timing instead of running the vacuum advance , for simple driving 3.08 gears and performance it seems to work fine , it was lazier with the vacuum advance.
There was a part # for the cooler in the video and I had purchased 15 feet of Summit -6 PTFE steel Braided line with PTFE -6 fittings. The cooler had -6 ends already so it made for a clean install. All fittings were dash 6.
It was one of these style of kits , the company I bought from no longer comes up (16Pcs 2.5"OD DIY Custom Exhaust Tubing Pipe Replacement Straight & U-Bend Kit) I welded some and used stainless clamps for some of it
@@jaysgarage3616 I got a S10 with shorties looking to go with these long tubes, the oil filter you went with does it clear the driver side tubes well? I was curious thanks for the video no one on youtube has a video covering the long tube install for the 1st s10 that I found yet.
I used a short filter and need to remove the header to change it , Jeg's sell a shorter filter that is supposed to work. I have the truck stored at the moment but will be going to a remote filter when I bring it back. Thanks for watching!!@@Dan-nm9bk
As soon as i saw the dash i knew the truck was a 1984 , the later dash design was not near as nice, try and score a good earlier dash to retro fit and u pay big $$$

Thanks for making this series very informative and inspiring.
Thanks for the comment!! And thanks for watching! I have been driving this truck quite a bit and its a great little driver.
That thing is a beast!
Thanks , it runs very good for what it is and gets good mileage.

GOOD JOB

I wouldn't use that type rear end for 350 swap might hold up if you don't do burnouts unless u put bigger gears

I would do locker rear than posi in my 20 plus years being in S10 I never had any problems with the rear ends
I'm having issues with my headers hitting passenger side frame. What kind of headers are those . Send my a link

Like you show me the fuel pump and lines, that would help me out with the installation of the fuel pump
I used the original fuel line and ran a fuel line to the carb.
This is a pretty good explained video. where did you purchase your transition cooling lines? Any part number? Thanks.

So u didnt show this but did u cut 2 holes in the bumper and the exhaust tips just exit that way ?
No , they are right behind the bumper and slash cut to point (almost) down , you cant see the tailpipes when behind the truck.
what radiator did u go with?
4.3 rad
I wonder what whp this puts down
It depends on the dyno , 240 ish

I’m looking at buying an 85 s-10 with a small block. Turn to the internet and watch videos to make my decision
It's helpful to see other peoples projects/experiences. The truck is fun to drive , decent on fuel and peppy.

This made me happy. I am suprised that you haven't researched "promosm"!!!
