I just love this video. No rules🙂 No ironing and ironing and ironing. Love how you have used even the teeniest, weeniest strips. Hate to waste these pretty little scraps that we collect over time. May God bless you. Best wishes from New Zealand.
I did crumb quilting for a while and people's told me they were just Scrappy old quilts. I love to use all the little pieces I sewed them all together then put a 6in ruler over it and would cut it down so I would have six inch blocks and then put them all together. You make me so happy to see the others are doing crumb quilting and it's acceptable when I started people thought I was crazy just making junk. I donated them for children and they were always happy they could play I Spy all day long under their covers. Thank you for showing me how to use a foundation piece I've never done that before just saw in the strips together iron them and then cut them out.
Material is expensive, we always have bits we can’t use, but even to make coasters it’s a nicer way than throwing good material away. You should carry on if your happy and like doing it that’s all that matters. Some folk do not appreciate things we make sadly. If you add you scraps up there are many yards after a short while. Hehe. Plus who needs an excuse for doing a bit of sewing😀👍
Wow! What a creative lady with her vibrant beautiful patchwork, she is so gifted and I am so impressed with her great talent of patchwork. I love producing patchwork and hexagons cushions from all shapes and sizes. It is a great escape with great hope in my sewing bubble and I am loving it ✂️🧵🪡🥰
( been working on a crumb quilt for 4 years🎉 using all the scraps- it’s full size🎉 gonna keep going ) If I wanted to I could make a backing 2-3 inches bigger than the front? And quilt as you go?? Maybe put a layer( of batting) in between? Humm🎉😊the ideas are endless🎉
I am so happy to of found your channel. I like your no nonsense style of quilting. It is supposed to be creative and fun! I believe you have totally shown exactly how you can really just do anything and it will turn out beautiful. Nothing makes me smile like a crumb/scrappy quilt. Warms my heart.❤ Thank you.😉
I love that you include your goofs as well and don't edit it! very reassuring for me! I've sewn upside down and back to front scrap piecing and it's a bit frustrating - glad I'm not the only one! love how you show such a great attitude to the process! NO RULES - gotta love that! xx
Enjoyed your version of making this block and your unplanned randomness. Had never thought to turn fabric under and top stitch in the funky corners. Great idea.
The thin piece at 3:46 is perfect to twist into fabric twine to use. We all have those little thin bits from every project don’t toss them. Twist them, and use them together. Or twist singles, then twist 3 together to make a thin rope.
For a dog placemat, I would put a towel on the back. Love your project idea! I have tiny dogs an just rescued 2 med/LG dogs and they are messy with water. HeeHee
Just found your channel, love your relaxed attitude about quilting. The quilt police can take the joy out of our quilting, if we let them. Also, noticed the Janome sewing machine I have two and their long arm, they are fabulous machines and such work horses. I have been using the computerized models since 1995 and yearly maintenance is all required. Thanks for a great video.
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create this crazy quilt piece for Sophie’s bowl and water. What a lucky cat 🐈 she is. I have a fur baby, and she’s a Jack Russell Terrier. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up too. Please stay safe and well too
I was a beginner quilter. I worked with some amazing quilters. I stopped going about three years ago, so I have forgotten a lot. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Your placements came out so pretty. I look forward to your next video.
How fun. I have made these using stitch glue and laying down raw edge scraps. Then I scribble stitch everything. I like them this way, also. I can see the advantage to it. Thank you, fun to watch.
Thankyou, for showing how its done. I was given a cabbage bag a long time ago still have packed away and now I’m sure this is how it was made .loved and used it. But never could part with it. I love the random patching of fabric. I might just purposely make som scraps out of a few pieces of material and see what comes out. I love junk journaling. Going to get the sewing machine out and make some journal covers. Wendy from South Africa
Here in the UK I put any left over fabric than is to small to sew in a bag and take to local charity shop, they then sell the bags to a "Rag man" who makes them into rags for cleaning
I have been doing this for hot pads, and also making 18 inch squares to make a quilt for my motorhome. For one of the hot pads my husband suggested I use the non skid, shelf liner for the back. Worked amazing well and I was considering doing that for the dog bowl.
Loved this video! Thank you for showing us that it’s okay to ‘finger press’ and use the bits even in their ‘wrinkled state’! It still turned out great! (I over stressed about the wrinkles and pressing the seams when I made a scrappy pillow!) I appreciate your videos and lives!! 🥰-darlene
Greetings, I am watching this video because I would like to utilize my fabric crumbs rather than throw them into the trash. I find a great use for long strings of fabric is to tie them or connect them and use them as yarn for crocheting, knitting, or weaving. I was thinking the best use for complete scraps like tags and bits would be to somehow shred them up as small as possible and use them for stuffing for a pillow or something. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
"Scrappy Police" - I think they've stopped by my place on occasion! They never identified themselves before. Now I know who they are, I won't give them entry. Thank you for this pearl of wisdom. 💙
Buenas tardes desde la isla de Tenerife. Muchas gracias, que proyecto más bonito. Un fuerte abrazo y cuidate mucho en estos tiempos tan duros que nos es tan tocando vivir
I love the crumb quilt.....but all the wrinkles drive me absolutely crazy 😜. I would have to press just a bit before I could even try to use. I can’t wait to try this.
You make this look so easy. I have tried but they are not a keeper yet. I will keep trying. I did some string piecing on dryer sheets that i cut in two. I made a book cover for my mom. Moms will love anything from their child. LOL.
My candy comes in a box, but my husband loves dill pickles and buys gallon jars. I save any glass jars but I have a few large plastic ones I was wondering how to use. You have inspired me in multiple ways today, thanks again.
Why don’t you press? You take time to pin, it would be easier to press and place than to try to straighten the scraps and pin. Just a thought. I have never made anything like this, it’s interesting.
OH MY LANDS, I wish I would have seen this before I did my crumb squares! It would have been so much faster! OH well now I know what to do for the next one!
I enjoy making crumb blocks but I do it without the foundation. Just sew the pieces together then use a square ruler to cut the blocks. That way I dont have to continually be taking it out from under the needle. I'm a big fan of chain piecing!
Crumbs and scraps huh! I said that crumbs were the best part of my scrap dinners. Want to make a cross stitch sampler of the phrase for my kitchen, and here you are using the same phrase for quilting.
I love this! I've made a lot of 9-1/2" blocks, still thinking what to make with them. I wanted to get some stripes fabric, black and white to frame some and others with white, and the rest with black but covid happened...
Thank you for the tutorial. I was wondering how exactly to use small pieces of leftover "bits" after making quilt mattress cover for my 4 Legged Love :-) It seemed like a no brainer but sometimes...I just get "empty headed" I can't think LOL
I love what you are doing. I just wish you would stay in camera for the stitching. Never thought of crumbing on a foundation piece. Absolutely love the idea. Much more stable.
I love this method . I just wish it was done in normal view an not set up as fast . Would have enjoyed it more . But I have learn a lot of new steps. Thank You . ⚘
have you tried using the zigzag stitch to piece together the scraps to avoid sewing right sides together then unfold then iron to flatten? (i hope you get what im trying to say.)
Very cool. I'll bet no one who looks at can figure out how you did it. BTW: you have a perfect cartoon character voice. Maybe as a side job: call Disney.

Very cute. Fur babies need pretty things, too. Thank you for sharing. God bless. ❤❤
Crumb quilting over my Old
pot-holders for practice. 🤔 Might make new crumb quilt potholders for Christmas gifts 🎁 .
Also I use my real skinny pieces and tie little bows to put on things 😍

Thank you! I haven’t seen the foundation piece technique for crumb quilting. It looks beautiful.
Very nice.
I do enjoy the relaxing nature of crumb quilting… I’m up to 65 10” squares
Watching this in 2023. Thanks for the tips! 💕
Neat project and LOVE the expert editing on this video!

My son just got a dog. Great idea for Duke. Thanks.

Cool idea to use all the scraps!
Thank you..enjoyed wstching this and learning. I never throw fabric away.
And now friends keep all their old clothes and fabric bits for me too.
I only use old shirts, pants, etc.. To make my quilts a lot cheaper.
Love the seam ripper
Such a nice personality and just the right amount of talk, with great music background. Very homey and low pressure. Thank you!

Glad it was helpful!
Love this. I's really the representative of quilting's frugal beginnings!

Beautiful quilt
That is how a crazy quilt is supposed to be put together, all shapes and all sizes.

What a great way to use up all those pretty scraps...
Te veo por primera vez y me encantó tu proyecto, gracias x compartir 👏👏👏🥰🤩🌟🇦🇷

Love it! Have been saving scraps & cant wait to start!!! I put my too small crumbs in a bag for a future doggie bed!
This was really interesting to watch... Lots of ideas running thru my head
Buenas tardes desde la isla de Tenerife. Muchas gracias, que proyecto más bonito. Un fuerte abrazo y cuidate mucho en estos tiempos tan duros que nos es tan tocando vivir
Very nice I am sure Sophie will love splashing water on it when having a drink! SCRAPS are the best.....
I love the crumb quilt.....but all the wrinkles drive me absolutely crazy 😜. I would have to press just a bit before I could even try to use. I can’t wait to try this.
it's for the Dog
Q
I would have to press also.
Très bien, pour moi le fer à repasser est indispensable.
Amazing
Loved watching this. You could call it "The Dog's Breakfast!"
You make this look so easy. I have tried but they are not a keeper yet. I will keep trying. I did some string piecing on dryer sheets that i cut in two. I made a book cover for my mom. Moms will love anything from their child. LOL.
It's only fabric and it's only thread 🧵. This is my slogan for sewing.

Great idea!
So great job! So beautiful!!! :)
i love crumb blocks i love just making blocks and save them for a raining day
This is AWESOME! Thank you - and I’m a new subscriber now!
Welcome aboard!
👍👍👍 love this. Am thinking a whole quilt, starting with 12' blocks. Could really clean up my scrape pile lol.😊

I kept thinking what a great pillow for your dog.
Do you need to use a foundation piece and if so, what type of fabric is it?
Good job

Okay sweetheart I'm a beginner and a little bit confused is this quilt project the same thing as c a l l e d the (crazy quilt?) 🙂 ty
For crumb quilting foundation, I like to use wax sandwich wrapper sheets from Sam's Club.
Do you have to use a foundation? I would be sewing a quilt if I did a crumb quilt.
Because I'm new to sewing ,the foundation fabric is of what type?
Loved it ! Would make nice placemats for humans too LOL and bathmats
I am sure you get asked often about your seam ripper, where can they be purchased and can you show it closeup? Loved both of the scrap crumb you made.

I would have absolutely no qualms about using an old sheet, as long as it's not threadbare...
Can I do one like with fancy stitches over it.
Of course! Use up oddments of thread.
Love it.. ♡♡♡ if anyone ever wants to donate stash pieces or crumb pieces I would love them!
Katie we should swap scrap bits!
