I like the fact that you show the subject matter in a small area while you painting so we can see what you painting and what you are looking at at the same time.
I was appreciating how useful your knife-tipped brush was at the 5:55 mark, in getting into the grooves of that long pumpkin. I suddenly did a reality check, as I had forgotten that you're painting on flat linen, there are no "grooves" except in my head because your masterly work tricked my brain!! I'm not a painter but really admire the draftsmanship and subtlety of colours , and truly seeing that you explore and share here.
Love your still life, you have to be one of the best, most talented artists of our time Andrew. Your paintings constantly blow me away, I don't know of any artist who is more talented. I will definitely check out your school. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Watching you paint a still life while I paint a still life. I used a cardboard box to control the light like you did in a previous video, it's been a fun project
Hi Andrew🖐... I was just at a family funeral and heard from family connections from Lawrence, that you stood up against a real touchy subject,... You are amazing artist and a true blue kiwi standing on the right side of history when so many didn’t,... my hats go’s off to you my friend 👍
Honestly your still life paintings are some of my favorites. It’s it’s own adventure, truly, the time it takes when flowers die or fruit shrivels or changes color, all of it mate. It’s great watching you work your gift thanks for sharing with us Andrew.
Andrew, I have followed you for years have learned a ton from you. I wish when I was still traveling Australia and NZ frequently with my engineering so I could have painted outdoors with you and Sam and other good artists. I truly have enjoyed both islands of NZ unfortunately many of my friends have passed on. You have been good with teaching and sharring not only the "how to do it" but equally important the "Why" you do various steps and techniques. You are young and I am old but old dogs can still learn! Thanks.
Amazing stuff! Learn so much every time I watch you! The still life’s of the old Dutch masters are just insanity. One day I’ll find me a fancy pants nautilus shell chalice to paint!
I love how you geek-out over your subject! I am the same way when I paint my random collection of sea shells and old bottles. All those various textures, reflections and personalities.... Thanks for sharing your experience!
I have watched and shared your teachings and have so enjoyed your epic journey from meager beginning to now. It was enlightening to learn the backdrop of changes and struggles along the way. You have changed my opinion the usefulness of digital art. Like you, I'm a traditionalist and I didn't see the purpose of it's uses, until now. It saves time, supplies and provides the client with a concept that they would have had trouble visualizing otherwise. You are an incredible inspiration for all of us struggling artist. Thank you for sharing your time and talent and also, your beautiful country. I look forward to seeing more.
the images do great credit to the subjects, I just, - Love the choice of autumn red orange. A course I went on was for painting an autumn leaf - We were taught that we had to mix the exact colours we saw by four degrees. eg Yellow yellow yello red. or red red yellow yellow. etc, we were not allowed to draw the maple leaf only to apply the shapes within the shapes directly as they appeared. The results were amazingly true to life. Interesting results.. Rosie Hoy New Zealand
Taking your art to the next level. You've spent years working to develop your art skills but the real way to lift your work is to depict subjects that are real to you.. or have a real depth of meaning. I always think the biggest challenge for an artist is finding a subject... Would be interesting to see how deep, as an artist you can go with creating a piece of artwork that represents Andrew and has real passion and belief behind the work!
I love painting still lifes from life for all the reasons you said. It's just so fun. Working from life with any subject is such a reflective experience that is worth knowing. I love pumpkins/squash and this is a lovely still life set-up and beautiful painting. I've been wanting to paint pumpkins for ages.
Awesome job, very nice result 👍 doesn't matter the subject, I went to an exhibition in Victoria Australia years ago, and it was small paintings of shoes, but so beautifully painted that they demanded some time in front of each one. Loved your 🎃 nice one 👍
You are an amazing realism painter, the pumpkins are mouth watering and the texture of table is so realistic, wow how gifted you are and thanks for sharing your talent and teaching tips, Maureen South Australia
The mark of a true "Master"= you can paint anything, well! Nicely done! Personal favorites are your portraits. I have enjoyed watching you over the years and I thank you for continuing to provide quality on the 'free' side of the paywall! Glazing: truly love to see how you accomplish this valuable technique. The closeups with the details are singularly appreciated! On your "new look", you are fortunate that you have the skull shape that handles the "chrome dome" look, very well, indeed! Personally, I love the look of no hair on the top, but a full, but well manicured and shaped beard on the bottom. Again, thank you for the opportunity to share your journey and your expertise. It is lovely to watch fine, masterful technique that has the same level of quality in the video production. I look forward to continuing to share your journey. The learning never stops. Just FYI, color and transparency are my personal explorations currently. Cheers, Kristine.
13:23 A Dutch Ripple Frame will look good for this painting. I see that you have framed it in golden frame, can't see exactly what type of frame that is. camera is blurred in the background. Great painting by the way. 👍👌 Congratulations for 500k🔥subs🎉.
Amazing Thankyou for sharing so much knowledge iv been a massive fan for many years now and even have my own TH-cam tattoo channel but these are amazing not just the obvious amazing result…
While I love all your paintings (and your drawings - man!!!) I especially enjoy your still lives. Somehow it's so soothing to watch them being painted and also to watch them being done, if that makes any sense. Something draws me into these pictures and makes me want to look close, then far, then close again. Beautiful vegetables, and also the one with the scull and the flowers.
Andrew, it wouldn't hurt me a bit if you would teach some of us and arranging I stay alive. For a while I thought I was the landscape painter Wildlife painter when I looked on the wall I didn't see but a few landscape I live in Western Art did see a lot of stuff. LOL as a few Magnolia which I don't like to paint flowers. I found it educational I enjoy painting old things as old broken-down boots rustic cowbells denim, and so forth. But I do struggle with placements, I don't care for a cluttered subject, very simple Arrangements, catching light I feel I struggle with. Thank you Andrew appreciative to you a master!
👋Thank you for sharing this video Andrew. You did an excellent job with this still life ! I really appreciate being able to watch and listen to your explanations, it helps immensely ! Have a great time.❤
Hi The Tish. Wondering where you are shopping for paint these days. U used to get it in Aust. Where now. What brand of white r u using. Hi Rach :). Have a great water free day. We are flooded out up here.
Amazing Tisch, in this painting I find it's all in the detail. If you hadn't put the detail in the table in front of the arrangement, the painting would have lost a lot of it's interest. Wonderful, it truly looks as if one of the old masters did it!
Very nice Andrew, you were talking archival paints, listening to Virgil on using mars black and yellow mix rather than Burnt Umber, have you tried not using Umber before?
Pumpkins are fun, sexy and wonderful subjects to paint! I can't understand how someone can find them dull? I have one lovely bluish green sitting on my desk and waiting to be captured but before that I think I need to get a dagger - it looked so handy! Well done, Andrew!
I know painting flowers and butterflys is a bit cliche but how about mushrooms? I think you should find some weird mushrooms and make a painting of it... maybe next to a raw fish 😄😄😆 I would love to see the contrast of these textures.
Congratulations on reaching 500k. You are on a roll this year, and we benefit from it. Thank you!
I like the fact that you show the subject matter in a small area while you painting so we can see what you painting and what you are looking at at the same time.

Gorgeous! The colors in this painting are so deep and rich. You’re so gifted, Andrew, as an artist and a teacher. Thank you for being so generous!
Isn't he generous though. Very unselfish talent and with his knowledge! I've not found any better! We are so fortunate to have him. Want a gift
You are like a new age Bob Ross to me. Youre so helpful, encouraging and generous with your knowledge!!

I can't wait to look for items to paint a still life. Other projects are on hold. Thank you Andrew.
It's amazing the love and dedication that he puts into it
Amazing stuff! Learn so much every time I watch you!

Love the colours! Very reminiscent of the old masters indeed!

Your work is astounding! Thank you for what you do for other artists.
You have me geeking out about them. I’ve always loved them but this is amazing.

So great! Just watched your pears-video again and realized that this painting was in the background!
You really captured the beauty of something as ordinary as a pumpkin
Awesome job, very nice result 👍 doesn't matter the subject, I went to an exhibition in Victoria Australia years ago, and it was small paintings of shoes, but so beautifully painted that they demanded some time in front of each one. Loved your 🎃 nice one 👍
Absolutely informative. Although dark tones are used throughout, the contrast is still so evident
