    Great painting and great lesson! The painted quinces are thousand times more impressive as the natural ones. Still life is a very good option for painting under the bad weather here in Germany. I love it also because we can be creative with the setting and I find drawing boring so I enjoy painting and learning forms and colors the aproacheable scale of a still life. My question is: do you wait until the first layer of burnt umber dries completely before goind ahead ? Andrew, you are a great artist and teacher, you paint with heart and brain, Thank you very much! * the children were adorable❤

    Andrew I enjoy your videos on TH-cam and other online outlets. I plan to start buying some of your videos to help improve my skills. I do professional paintings for clients but need to work on landscape and still life images. Another area I’m working on is capturing the sky. Here in west Texas we have incredible sunsets and sunrises. Our land is flat which lends help in seeing the sky without obstruction. If you’re ever in Texas you must see our skies that go on forever. Wishing you the best in your work. Blessings to you and your family.

    "Simple" still life painting - similar to Old Masters' styles, will teach you to paint what you actually see, not what you think you see. Bravo for tackling this "ordinary" subject, where skills are learned and honed. Beautifully executed! BTW, Quince jelly is quite good!

    I've only been painting for a few years and my first love is landscape painting. However, I was enthralled by this still life lesson. As a "well seasoned" person I have some difficulty with details due to my hands shaking, but this video has inspired me to try a still life. Thank you so much for your videos.

      Steve, I have an artist friend that used to paint beautiful detail watercolors but when she came down with Parkisons she found another medium that she could create in with shaking hands. She paints using cut out pieces of cloth materials! It’s amazing! It ends up looking like a painting of oils or acrylic but when up close you find she is using material and even lace. She attaches the pieces of cloth with archival glue. She mats the art behind glass in a frame to protect it. I’m not sure what she uses for her base or surface to glue cloth onto. I’m guessing some board that she has gessoed or painted with something to keep any contaminated pieces from effecting the cloth pieces. You may try doing this for fun. You can also look at cutting out pieces of papers to combine to make an image. I hope these ideas may help. Most important have fun. Life is to short to worry on many things. Enjoy it!

    • @adameddy6450
      @adameddy6450 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve you should try using a mahl stick! It's simply a dowl that you can rest your hand on while painting. You could easily make one yourself or buy one. I'm youngish but still don't have stable enough hands for tiny details. My mahl stick is essential!

We'll see tho lol I just LOVE our b. Umber/ultramarine combos, and the way Umber just perfectly de-saturates colors. God bless!
