My name is Kevin Rich. You have inspired me to pick up a paint brush again. After twenty years of discarding the idea of art, I've once again picked up some artistic juice to start afresh. For whatever reason, I do seemed to have improved.
I studied painting and design and i made my master long time ago. I tried hard the last 40 years, but i will never reach you, not even close. Thank you for sharing your skills. You are an outstanding amazing artist and inspiration, not only for me.
Never think so. Art is not about skills. It's about marketing. Cezanne, Van Gogh, Malevich and many others had no close skills either, but they are greater than both him and you.
Wow! again! Thank you for your tutorials. You are such a good teacher. Your glass "trick" is such an amazing tool. I am only a beginner (age 74) but I am enjoying my erratic little journey into the edge of art.
I'm a visual learner. As a watch your channel I reflect on how much I've discovered just playing. Watching these videos of various artists and styles. Find myself combining techniques and opposite materials. I LOVE texture. My first painting was after watching Iris Scott finger painter. 4 hours to execute with the HOBBY LOBBY oil kit for 4.99! the "Jesus" 12x16 Every thing after Jesus was difficult! Such a metaphor indeed. Then I find you! You are so opposite! I'll pick up the brush but you just made it look engaged...I've saved all my old brushes for the exact reasons you gave. Thank you! Time to paint!
Good guess! Very observent! If your looking at the painting at differnt angles, you are seeing the textures- not the color choice. you are right about the 3-D effect! I've been grappling about this subject for the last few years! What did I do? Been oil painting all my life- self taught! I have always wondered about the embossed Christmas cards of my youth! What if I applied that to my oil Painting? So I got some epoxy putty to make a " raised surface" to under lay my painting! now I have to learn sculpturing. - a "babe in the woods"! I paint in "glazes" over the " raised surfaces" . Makes a great 3-D effect with different light angles!! Especially with rocks and trees! Just beginning a new adventure! Just found a channel by Andrew Tischler. One of the best currant artist.. com bining realism with my newly discovered technique!
Yet again a painting tutorial that is made brilliantly and narrated flawlessly. As always you spare us the pontification, self-aggrandizement and cheap, misplaced humor so rampant in most other instructional videos. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your talent. Thanks to your parents (who I believe are also artists) for their part in raising such an awesome person.
I wanted to thank you, Andrew. I find your work is very inspiring. I observe and pick up what I need to learn. I'm a person that loves paint. I have a compassion. I lost it. For a little while, but now I've picked up my paintbrush. Once again in my canvas and paint. And my most interests now is water rocks and trees. I'm from down the coast, so we have very rugged rocks, sharp angles and shapes of all sorts. I'm around sea water. And lost a kelp on a rocks, but the scenery is breathtaken.
Absolutely brilliant!, I mean your painting you know. I'm now making my way to the big rock on the right I would like to sit on it for a while and just enjoy The View. Thank you for letting us be a part of your creations, truly enjoyable.
I just recreated your painting in real time. Took me 17 minutes and mine looks like an unattended toddler walked into hobby lobby and had a field day on a buy one get one free canvas. Cheers from Georgia USA 😜👍👍👍
You are truly amazing...Rambrandt can't compete with you..great video.......such realistic results with whatever you paint..thanks for sharing your methods with us
Andrew, you are an excellent teacher! You explain everything in detail - how you start off, what colors you use, how you do the color mixing, the concepts behind how you give depth to the scene etc. One innovative idea I learned was the use of a small sheet of glass to know the reflection of the mountain and surrounding objects invthe water! Really a great idea!
After 20-plus years I am still an amateur but love my “painting time”. Started when I retired…self-taught landscaper. Your videos are ‘on the mark ‘ for mr. Big thanks!,,
I'm working on a couple paintings at once right now... and this painting has helped me with both! One is of a koi pond with big rocks in background. I was struggling with the water looking realistic, but your trick using glass is amazing!! I was also using greenery on the sides and on the rocks, so you helped me with it all!!! Your technique with your grasses and greenery helped me with my beach painting as well. Thank you... always learn so much from you!
Absolutely amazing painting.I’m learning to paint in oils I love watching you paint you truly are a master. I’ll never be able to paint that good because of my age but I won’t give up ) thankyou for the inspiration John 👍
Thank you so much for the close-up! Really appreciate that closeness, especially for those of us that have poor eyesight. Really important to me. Marvelous
Very much enjoy seeing a master at work wanting to share his/her expertise with others. You continue to inspire me to reach new heights! Andrew, THANK YOU! You are a blessing! Ter
Breathtaking scenery, extraordinary painting and skills, but do you also know how beautifully God has created you, you're a painting yourself. Such a good looking painter.
AMAZING...your gift is absolutely beyond words...pure magic! You are so relatable in all you do ...your personality is a joy and I so appreciate the way you explain it all...inspiring so many like myself! You make us all feel like we know you!
Andrew, the ratio of your genius & talent is in direct proportion to your humble approach to sharing your vast knowledge 🙏😍 Your genuine enthusiasm for painting is contagious, and you possess amazing communication skills... you're literally in a class all your own! Thank you for all you are and do 🎨🙏💖
Dear Sir, The way you take care of each and every tone, texture, effects is awesome. Yes indeed , every time I see your video, I learn something new. Please keep uploading videos. Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, With warm regards, Vivek Kumar ( Bihar, India )
You are a few steps ahead of where I want to go with large landscape oil paintings...but you've given me a pathway there. I bought the Puget Sounds lesson and expect it will take a month + to go through - but that's the best thing about your large oil painting lessons. Thanks!
Really appreciate your posts, Andrew. Your attitude is always positive. I have no painting experience, but enjoy watching the process the way one might enjoy a time-lapse of a building construction. There's a real pleasure watching the elements build in dimension from an empty "lot" to a completed construction. It dispels the "impossibility" of the process and shows the logic of it's production in a way that inspires confidence that aspiring people can relate to.
I love your tutorials, as the proud owner of Milford and Painting Waves, you do not hold back! You are a rare artist who actually does want to help people learn to paint like you! I look forward to adding this to my library. You are the BEST!
Beautiful work of art! You are very talented! Having said that, it makes me cringe to see “how to paint/draw ____!” Because if we’re just taught to draw/paint what we see and get out of our own heads instead of paint/draw what we THINK we see, that is the key to be able to paint or draw ANYTHING we want to. The glass truck is neat if you’re painting something from your head, but again if you just painting from a reference picture, just paint that-what you see.
Interesting they have that effect on you art is emotional .I have only recently realized how powerful art can be although I have painted for years. I was in hospital very sick as a result of cancer as I recovered the hospital wall s in the wards had original art most donated . I would go around the wards as best I could a look at the work and I found it uplifting and healing .I now donate every 10 th painting I do to a rest home or hospital as a way of saying thank you .
Awesome work. You're one of my favorite 'teachers' (unofficially...) ... Wanted to say I bought your brushes from Rosemary&Co... and wanted to thank all of you for making a good quality brush that I dont spend 20 minutes picking hairs out of my paintings! Keep up the good work! Thanks!

Agree 100%!!!
I saw a painting here in our place and its monet like but somewhat 3d in different angles. Its the shadow and color choice i believe.
Good guess! Very observent! If your looking at the painting at differnt angles, you are seeing the textures- not the color choice. you are right about the 3-D effect! The detail... The realism... I wanna cry
Nice balance on the composition. Immediate focus is Talbot but the reprise or true focus is the reflection. So important to get the water right.
I love painting reflections and water. SO much fun. Gets me excited every time.
