That was a fantastic video!! I’ve been doing appliance repair for 15 years , never had to replace one of these. I came here for some pointers and I just want to tell you thank you so much for taking your time to make an awesome tutorial 👍🏻👊🏻
We have a 6 yr old SCCP50 and love it. I religiously descale and clean it every 6 month. In the past year we have noticed: 1) Ice is no longer clear. 2) Ice seems to be wet and melting quicker. Drain Issue? Any advice on both issues is greatly appreciated.
Check the water inlet valve, there’s a access to the filter screen on top, looks like a brass nut. That can sometimes clog up with gook and restrict the water flow. If it is clogged then put an in-line water filter on your water supply. Also check the condenser coil.
I descaled and cleaned the machine yesterday. It's still in the cabinet. Is the water inlet valve in the back of the machine where I have to take it out of the cabinet to access it?@@SubZeroSpecialists
There may be more water at the bottom than I can remember. It seems to be draining but maybe that's getting clogged too. Oh! One thing I remember is when I started to descale the machine, I took off the screen. I wish I would have unscrewed those nuts like you did in your video to get to the sprayers, but I did look at the sprayers and I didn't see any obstruction. They seemed to be spraying just fine. Now I did notice that a portion of the ice cubes were still stuck in their forms. And pieces would drop as I was descaling it. Maybe I started the descale just as ice was being made? @@SubZeroSpecialists
Did you peruse our Tech Help files on our website? There's a service manual for the SCCP30 which is basically the same. Also, if it's not draining check the drain pump.
Good video. I had the same issue. Make sure the cover over the ice cups is not allowing water to squirt up- as the cups have holes in them ( presumably to avoid scale buikdup) and this is probably the source of the water splashing on the pump. THere is a plastic cover but could easily be displaced. The manuals are minimal and poorly written in my opinion for maintenance purposes
It wasn’t warm inside but ice production was slow. There should be a part 2 to that video that shows the machine working properly. Changing the hot gas valve corrected the problem.

What is the drain issue?

Great video. Very helpful.👍👍
Holy algae and scale!. Customer has Gotta clean that thing at least once a year!
Thx. New valve fixed issue? Was it warm in the chamber after it ran overnight?

3:00 Put it in a 5 gallon bucket and soak spray heads in vinegar or lime-a-way for 24 hours.
Thanks for the input.
I'm not a big fan of Scotsman machines. Manitowoc are a better built ice machine in my opinion.
